Seriomino··on Tesla to Cut 10% of Jobs
Yes that what I meant. Using it as an excuse
Seriomino··on Tesla to Cut 10% of Jobs
Smart right?

Should be enough time to evaluate whom to keep and not offending anyone directly by stating economic issues

Seriomino··on Ask HN: How do you record your personal finances?
I only have one excel showed which contains all our bank accounts including brokering.

I don't live over my means so I stoped trying to record everything but because I'm saving for a house, I need to know roughly how much I have across different accounts.

And for everyone curious about why I have more accounts: I have my account, we have a shared account, my wife has one, 1 company brokering account, private brokering account and most critical an banc account for reserved funds/emergency/maintenance.

I assume that when we buy a house that we will throw everything together to get the best quote.

My mane bank account actually has this analysis feature but I disabled it again because it did not add any value.

I always wire money every month out of my account. Everything I have in there is money I can just spend if I wanted to.

Seriomino··on Ford CEO says EVs will be sold 100% online with nonnegotiable price
The dealership has to change anyway.

If banking and Everything else is a good example, people are getting used to buy online.

I bought even my current car without seeing it before.

I bought my bike online as well.

If more and more do that dealerships might loose too much revenue anyway to keep them afloat.

Interesting idea.

Never came across of it, tx.

Seriomino··on Italy Is Held Back by 2.6M People Who Have Given Up on Work
Just a train of thought because that's what I'm doing:

Why not trying to buy your own land and build a small community around it?

Might be much more fulfilling with very little money required.

I live in Germany and everything just costs money but if you are in the USA, there are plenty of very cheap areas were you can easily life self sustainable?

Seriomino··on Italy Is Held Back by 2.6M People Who Have Given Up on Work
You get sanctions if you don't try interviews.

And you only get it after all your riches are gone.

After that your Rente/retirement money will become a real struggle.

I don't envy anyone going this road but I also don't mind it.

Seriomino··on Italy Is Held Back by 2.6M People Who Have Given Up on Work
My company allows you to save your working hours and spend them in your sabbatical.

It's primarily a good thing in regards of taxes as you pay less in that time.

Do you mean something different? Haven't heard a free sabbatical from spd

Seriomino··on Italy Is Held Back by 2.6M People Who Have Given Up on Work
I'm still working as long as I can (I'm 35) so I have enough money to not work and spend a few years on building my own house/farm/greenhouse.

On the other hand I know the story from a few people getting rich fast (crypto and fang) who just sit at home and play the same game for years now.

Good for them (if that doesn't make them depressed) but normally not having any money makes life quite different.

I also think it's unfair for me to have this plan and being able to achieve it while on the other side of our planet people still work like 6 days a week for consumerism.

Seriomino··on Angular v14 is now available
Independent from politics: I like main much more. Shorter and better sound than master
Seriomino··on Show HN: A friend and I spent 6 years making a simulation game, finally released
Cool!

How did you handle it between money, work and your spare time?

Are you happy with your work work life balance?

Have you tried a publisher?

What financial expectations do you have for being able to keep on it?

How do you balance family and friends?

Seriomino··on Sheryl Sandberg stepping down as Facebook COO
Meta became what tv channels like history channel became:

Cheap entertainment for the masses.

Does it make money? Obviously.

And funny enough they have so much money and what do they do actually with it?

Nothing someone can actually name besides: the feed, messenger, occulus and stuff they bought up like insta and Whatsapp.

Congratulations to Facebook and basically no real innovation in the last 10 years.

Besides optimizing the addictiones of garbage which got easily trumped by TikTok.

Seriomino··on Terraform Labs Caught Moving $4.8M Through Shell Company
There was an interview on the radio with a woman who can see in the future.

As long as media is somehow seen as normal and people don't question e everything, you need consumer protection laws.

It's that easy.

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
Zimbabwe apparently has 50% smartphones.

Btw. You should read up more on how well Bitcoin works in El Salvador.

And of course all the other points I brought up are still valid as well.

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
They are not collapsing just for fun without a reason.

The normal people of that country are btw not able to just buy crypto. After all someone still needs to take their money to exchange it and they need hardware and knowledge.

You sound like crypto would just solve those issues just because it's there.

Seriomino··on Ask HN: If Kubernetes is the solution, why are there so many DevOps jobs?
As one person with kubernetes I can build and operate quite a big platform more secure and better than ever before.

Our current platform is much more stable, has more features, and bigger than what the prev team did.

There are plenty of things you can't see like security or backup or scalability.

Backup were done app by app basis. Now you can do snapshots in k8s.

Security still is a mess. But now you can at least isolate stuff.

Scalability meant installing your application x times manually and configuring load balancer etc. Now you set it up per cluster.

Additional features you get with k8s: Auto scaling, high availability, health checks, self healing, standardization.

A lot of things got invented which lead to k8s like container or yaml.

Now with the operator pattern you can also replace admin and embed operational knowledge I to code.

Infrastructure was not ready to be controlled by code like this ever before.

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
I don't say that.

I only argue about wrong crypto bro arguments.

Feel free to invest in whatever you want but in these discussions cryptobros argue from crypto is the future and is better than fiat.

Be aware though about the energy consumption of BTC. The GPU shortage and Asics garbage it creates.

I would have loved to buy an rtx GPU over people gambling on the side.

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
They also can just buy euro or dollar.

Nothing new here.

And yes sanctions against north Korea or Russia are more important than the inflation of Lebanon, Zimbabwe or Turkey.

And I still bet that the people in Zimbabwe in avg have more from less co2 than from bitcoin

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
You used 'privately owned' to indicate it being shady.
Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
Trustworthy source you have: "The Cato Institute is a public policy research organization—or think tank—that creates a presence for and promotes libertarian ideas in policy debates."

I'm totally against money laundering. It takes the money away from us people for streets, school and healthy care.

And crypto is not providing any solution to this at all. So why not fixing that issue inside the crypto bro fan club first and than trying to replace our current fiat with it?

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
And Bitcoin automagically fixes that?

How? Due to it being a PoW system?

Suddenly fraud is no longer possible? (It still is)

Money laundering is no longer possible? (It still is)

Inflation/Deflation save? (It still is)

So tell me, what is crypto fixing?

That instead of experts in the central bank the market itself just does what? Definitely nothing pro consumer.

There are reasons why banks get requirements from the state on how they need to run and it's most of the time for us consumer/small people.

Seriomino··on Tech experts urge Washington to resist crypto industry’s influence
So you also believe that a crypto system is inherently better than what we have?

Just because you believe money is printed as much as the dark secret super elite group wants it be printed?

Ah yes the sseg.

But yes we are still living in a democracy (a lot on hn at least) and the solution to all of these problems definitely are not getting solved by crypto.

You as an avg joe you are much better off with our current fiat system. The money they collect is used for a lot of things you depend on.

You might be totally ignorant to this but just switching to crypto doesn't solve a single problem.
