Separo··on Copilot sells code other people wrote
GitHub provides the repo hosting and tools for free on public projects. I'm happy with this deal.
Separo··on Djinn Split Keyboard
I've found that the annoying thing with these floating split keyboards is that you don't develop the muscle memory because the keys are always in a slightly different position each time it moves around.

You need a bracket to keep the halves in exactly the same spot every time when you're in split mode in order to get that muscle memory.

Also on the UHK v1 and have since not been able to use anything else. Especially because of fast layer switching, home row arrows and mouse layer. Although checking out the Dygma Raise now :)

Separo··on Harvard CS professor David Malan built a distance-learning empire
I took CS50 in 2013. Malan was a phenomenal teacher and presented complex concepts with a pace and clarity that made them easy.

I knew there would be these petty comments in here. For people who in general work in such an intellectual and ephemeral pursuit there is so much pathetic clinging to meaningless terms. The computer does not care. It's only the human beings in the community that do.

And it's our choice whether to be neutral and inclusive or miserly trolls clinging to meaningless out of date terms coined in times when these weren't considerations. Rise above it. Embrace other people's experiences that maybe you have not had and have no idea about. Just appreciate that it may have happened to someone and not you and you do not have to reject them by posting a petty comment. Call it Big Cantaloupe / Little Cantaloupe. It doesn't matter. At least then nobody would be reminded of a murdered ancestor or the nature of the person who named it when all they wanted to do was use a stupid file system.

Don't be a dick. Be nice. x

Feels like you've never really read that book.
Separo··on Ask HN: Does anyone have or know someone with Covid-19? What's it like?
Thanks for your account. How was the general anxiety around it when you found out or were getting worse. Were you worried?

It sounds for your cases like relatively "normal" flu-like symptoms apart from the intense sinus pain. I'm assuming it didn't "get into your chest" like some cases are describing. I've heard those accounts call it an absolutely harrowing experience. Sounds like you luckily avoided that?

Separo··on Matias RGB Backlit Wired Aluminum Keyboard for Mac
So if you are switching keyboards all the time say from the UHK on your desktop to your laptop keyboard then your muscle memory is going to get a bit confused and keys aren't as easy to subconsciously hit. The mouse layer on the UHK is incredible and I find I try to use it all the time on other keyboards which obviously don't have it. Also function keys and escape haven't been as big a problem as I thought they would. Your brain just adapts quickly. One thing is that I do have trouble getting used to split mode because the halves move around slightly and my muscle memory doesn't know exactly where keys are. I tend to leave the halves together.

I've recently bought a split mechanical keyboard, the UHK. No backlight but it's a productivity beast. http://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/
Separo··on Building a better gov.uk, step by step
Absolutely one of the best websites in the world in terms of user interface and usability. I'm always surprised that using this site actually feels rewarding even though I'm doing administrative tasks with my government.
Separo··on Astronauts escape malfunctioning Soyuz rocket
It's worrying that there isn't an escape system on SpaceX BFR.
Separo··on A Conversation with Paul Graham [video]
It's ridiculous to say that to speak off-the-cuff you need to use "umm" or another filler word incessantly. Go to any good, spontaneous, unrehearsed conversation anywhere on the internet and you will see how much time was wasted trying to construct this argument.
Separo··on A Conversation with Paul Graham [video]
I feel that PG needs to make a concerted effort to use "uhm" less. It negatively affects his ability to eloquently communicate an idea.
