Slightly modified so that it runs either a Ruby file or a Python one:

  (0 and eval(IO.read("ruby.rb"))) or eval(compile(open("python.py").read(), "", "exec"))
Granted, this doesn’t close the Python file, which is delayed until garbage collection or program termination.

Interesting article. I thought this was a really good metaphor:

Ah yes, the programmers blame the engineers, and the engineers blame the programmers
SeekingMeaning··on What is Rust and why is it so popular?
Rust newbie here. How do you fix the compile error for the example given? I imagine it has something to do with transferring ownership, but I’m not too sure.
SeekingMeaning··on Ask HN: Do you ever contact people who have had a positive impact on you?
That last sentence... As a college student, I’ve never thought about that. It’s crazy to think that the percent difference in age gets smaller over time.

> Philip M. Parker, by one measure the world's most prolific author, has an entirely different approach. Parker has over 200,000 titles listed on Amazon.com, having developed an algorithm to gather publicly available data and compile it into book form.

Wow. That goes waaaaaaay back. It’s crazy to think that 1980 was to him at the time as 2000 is to us _right now_.

Ah, yeah. In that regard, I agree, Ruby could use some improvement.

Genuinely curious, what makes Python look more like pseudocode? The use of colons?

Regardless, I’ve always thought that Ruby is more like pseudocode because with Ruby, I’m able to worry less about syntax and more about what I’m trying to do. Maybe it’s just me?

SeekingMeaning··on Pony 0.33.1
Does Pony still work on Windows? There’s an issue about it[1] from 2015 and the one developer who uses Windows hasn’t committed to the repo since 2016.
