Interesting how MSFT gets the bad press, yet it's not clear they're the primary buyer of parts from these factories. They're just the "biggest."
The subtext of that message is that specific groups (homosexuals, girls, etc) shouldn't have the freedom to use the latest technology to communicate in the way others do.
There are bad people out there. The iPhone won't change that.
All I'm saying here is that anything I get will go back to the team/applicant.
I'm not sure how that's shady.
I'd take down the glass door link if I could to appease you. Personally, I think it's better that all photo team applicants see it rather than the few that find it through some cursory pre-interview research.
It's pretty standard practice for fb employees to give part of their referral bonuses back to their friends. Are you suggesting that I keep it for myself?
And they're beginning to act the part.
If you're not going to implement something tell the community. Let us vote it up if we think it's good.
Some suggestions: 1) @wtf t=24hrs; Allow me to adjust the frequency. 2) @wtf -mashable; Allow me to add/remove sources. 3) @wtf "(facebook|twitter) down"; Allow for more advanced searches.
I can't promise that I'll be able to do anything but I'll try to be your advocate within the company.
Email me if you're interested. I paid $550 (incl. sales tax). first_name@last_name.com
Another note: I was just told that our pagerank fell from 5/10 to 0. Probably happened a few months ago from wiki spam that we've been strugling with. If you implement a captcha you can might convince google to restore the PR.
Of my web projects, BluWiki is Divvyshot's ugly sister. The site has always been much larger but has received a fraction of the attention. This would be a great move if you're looking for an instant source of traffic.
Thank you for all the congratulations. We're thrilled to be joining the Facebook team. Frankly it's still taking time for everything to sit in.
I'll admit that it's bittersweet. When you spend 18 months obsessing over your company it's hard to see it go. It ultimately came down to the decision that we could touch more people's lives at Facebook...and that's what we've been in this for all along.

Since this post is going to get a lot of eyeballs I want to take this chance to solicit any suggestions/feedback/complaints HNers have for Facebook Photos. I can't comment on exactly what we'll be doing at Facebook, but I can promise whatever you tell me will get in front of the "right people." :)
If you want you can email me directly: sam@divvyshot.com

Since their legal department might read this: I'm not yet a Facebook employee and I'm not speaking on behalf of Facebook, anything you tell me is going to be placed in the public domain, you waive all rights to ownership over any IP that Facebook ends up implementing, etc.

I stopped buying cables retail a long time ago. My favorite supplier: RiteAV. They're (IMHO) the Amazon of cables. Huge selection, modest prices [2], and great customer service [3].

2. HDMI cables start at $3.50 - http://www.riteav.com/hdmi-cables-c-141_147.html?osCsid=cjmg...
3. I've never seen another retailer with as high a satisfaction rating: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/RiteAV
I don't mean to be snarky. I don't actually understand why this is a "mind blowing" release (other than the fact that it was released by Apple).
Even if, at 200,000 miles, the Earth's gravity was stronger than that of the Moon's, the pen would still fall to the Moon.
Think about it.
Also, I've been careful to only reveal information about my friend that was already public. See Daniel's mixergy interview: http://mixergy.com/daniel-brusilovsky/
It's already known that Daniel received an iMac and who he received it from.
I'm trying to respect Daniel's wishes by not releasing transcipts of our conversations.
However if Daniel feels that I wasn't fair or accurate then i'll release transcripts. I'll leave it up to him.
Where did you get 95%? I've heard this before yet I don't know of anyone (besides us) who's actually taken the time to ask users if med-res is good enough.
When founding Divvyshot I used Amazon mechanical turk to conduct a quick market survey (with hundreds of respondents). A few highlights:
77% of respondents knew what hi-resolution photos were and preferred them.
43% had manually increased the resolution setting on their camera.
77% had been promised photos from a social event within the last few months and had never received them.
In the meantime we just have to take heart that the population of the liverpool metro area (850k) is 0.01% of the world's population.
