Rmilb··on Ask HN: Why is Bitcoin surging in Price
Don't forget about FOMO.
Rmilb··on Boost – Your personal advisor and career coach
I think impostor syndrome can be a huge self imposed mental barrier for some software devs. Unsure on the right price point to help over come it.
Rmilb··on Boost – Your personal advisor and career coach

Rmilb··on A Farm Grows in the City
Just because something is natural does not mean it is healthy, safe or effective, but dismissing all types of herbal medicine that some people have been using for thousands of years seems too dismissive. I hate to be that guy, but the science is starting to pile up for the medicinal pot group.
Rmilb··on Human rights activist risks prison over refusal to disclose password to police
What would be the legality of stating " My password is not XYZ", when XYZ is the destruct password. Can you get the obstruction of justice charge if they try it and it destroys evidence?
Rmilb··on Will Initial Coin Offerings Fund the Future?
Hard to regulate it because it has properties of a scarce commodity, currency, speech, token used to access service, plus more.
Rmilb··on Will Initial Coin Offerings Fund the Future?
Who has jurisdiction over a functioning DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Corporation/Organization)?
Rmilb··on Root – Programmable bank account for software developers
As far as the US IRS is concerned, every time he makes a purchase with bitcoin, it is a taxable event where he must declare any gains/loss from the time he purchased the bitcoin. This type of regulation is hindering BTC adoption in the US. BTC also doesn't solve any problems the average person has in a developed country, but that is another story..
Rmilb··on To deflate the cryptocurrency token bubble, fix the market cap indicator
Lots of people are seeing these ICOs as easy money. It is unbelievable how many people will invest their money (mostly bitcoin gains) into unproven teams without a product and barely a white paper. Unhappy investors from events like this may draw more attention of the SEC or CTFC.
Rmilb··on Tradable and scarce digital assets on the blockchain
Another blockchain governance issue... We need new social structures to make any valuable use of this new technology.
Rmilb··on How the Airlines Became Cartels
Does anyone else see an added benefit of a universal basic income, is that it could in a small way help disincentivize the revolving door between the public and private sector that sometimes results in regulatory capture?
Rmilb··on Princeton’s Ad-Blocker May Put an End to the Ad-Blocking Arms Race

Rmilb··on Princeton’s Ad-Blocker May Put an End to the Ad-Blocking Arms Race
7 trans actions per seconds. But there are several changes in the pipline to fix this. One solution is having "off-chain" transactions not on the main blockchain, this would allow us to not record every coffee purchase made in bitcoin to be stored on the main chain. Look up Lightning Network if you are interested in how this is being done. Your main point is correct that Bitcoin can only handle 7 tps while Visa can handle 20,000 tps.

Rmilb··on Reddit is being manipulated by big financial services companies
Financial services account for a substantial portion of the US GDP and some may argue has big sway in the way our laws are written, and now in steering conversation about them on a popular site.
Rmilb··on Bitcoin hits 3-year peak, nears record high on U.S. ETF approval
Ethereum's currency (ether) is not finite and is predicted to not hold value like bitcoin. Ether is needed to power smart contracts not built to hold value.

Bitcoin wants to be digital gold, ether wants to be digital oil that is used to power smart contracts. This is a good way to explain it to the average person.

I live in a 126 sqft Tiny house I built my self with my partner. Saves an incredible amount on rent.
Rmilb··on LAVA: prevent ticket fraud with Ethereum
Blockchain all the things! They don't describe how they will track 'fraudulent' ticket sales. This just seems like a closed source platform for trading tickets. Since it's not open, I don't see any real use case for a blockchain. Please correct me if I missed something on the website. Seems like another instance of people with a tool looking for a problem to solve (like most blockchain apps so far). This is from a big blockchain fanboy.

Also, why do hip new companies love hijacking scroll?

Rmilb··on Steam now accepts Bitcoin for purchases
And those miners know the minute they start to censor transactions the price of BTC would probably suffer greatly.
Rmilb··on Steam now accepts Bitcoin for purchases
That's very true, Bitcoin doesn't solve many problems for people with access to credit banking. However, billions of people don't have access to Visa or a bank account. They only need a phone to send payments internationally.
