Sublime text for me takes too long to load. It's also too heavy for what my use case is. I just want a simple text editor, not an entire development app.
I attempted to use this, entered my email, was prompted with a "create your account" page, laughed out loud and closed the tab. This is a comical misunderstanding of what the product even IS or DOES.
So is this truly its own search engine / crawler / etc... and not using anyone else's searchs? I know ddg / kagi often use results from bing and other places, so just want to make sure.
also, how can I add this to my firefox search inside the address bar / search field?
I'm frankly astonished it took people 3 hrs to smash the windows and get out. I'd have politely asked the operator to open it up and let us all out after the 1h mark and if they didn't I would smash the shit out of a window and crawl out. No chance I would sit in there for 3 hours.
I so do too. Because apple does NOT have this, I'm wary when purchasing stuff on the app store. I was burned a while back buying a game that was a blatant lie, it was an idler and literally didn't have the gameplay elements it said it did, but I could not return it. I love the steam style return policy. Wish everyone adopted that.
In your future, do households with more than one person exist? Because no matter what the tech is that'll never happen. We have a family, and after dinner if we want to watch a sitcom and laugh, we ... what .... go put on our own individual headsets and lay in bed? What happens on Sunday and it's icy outside, and we want to put a james bond movie on with the booming sound, have a glass of wine while the kids make hot chocolate, how do we do that? If I'm a single dude with disposable income I can see the vr headset with insane quality being pretty awesome, but for ANY kind of household with a family or roommates, I just can't fathom that kind of dystopian nightmare.
Was there a legal change recently that has allowed these predatory life/society destroying apps to suddenly explode everywhere all at once? Maybe state by state in the US? In Kentucky, I have very suddenly noticed these sports gambling and online fake casino apps are now EVERWHERE. Tv ads, physical billboards all over town, in-app ads on my phone, etc etc ...
I'm astonished that after WD bought the SanDisk brand they kept it alive. You couldn't pay ME to use anything under that name, it's so negative. Maybe now with this critical failure they'll just slowly start branding things with any of the other myriad of brand names they've bought "hgst" for instance and slowly kill the brand.
This seems like Toyota spent some time with a cgi artist just to release some pics so they can say "see we are doing cool stuff" and nothing else. No specs, no price, no timing / dates, basically this is just a bunch of nothing with some images.
I really like it ... the ios app is great, it syncs super fast, I love how easy it is to switch between plain text, markdown, todo list, etc... It's perfect for my workflow, I just find it odd that nobody else was mentioning it.
So here I am doing so! If you don't use it, check it out.
I absolutely love plain text notes. Maybe you could understand that just because you think something is unpleasant and ancient, the rest of the entire human race might not agree? Shocking I know.
I can't stand any formatting whatsoever on my notes. I love plain text because it stays exactly as that: plain text. I don't want my dashes to be turned into spacers, I don't want my asterisks to be turned into lists, etc...
I've been using StandardNotes for years and been happy with them. Is there a reason I should look elsewhere at these or other alternatives? It's just interested I am not seeing this product mentioned anywhere here!
my wife and I share stuff within icloud and we both HATE IT SO MUCH. It's truly mind boggling how bad it is, and continues to be, in 2023. Photos sometimes sync, sometimes they don't. Cool. Sometimes rebooting the phone makes them sync, other times not. Awesome. Sometimes shared notes get updated, other times they don't. Sometimes shared note invitations just never arrive at all, for no discernible reason. Sweet. It took us 4 attempts to do a shared Home app invitation. The first 3 times it just never showed up.
We HATE HATE HATE icloud so much but our only other option is to switch everything to Android and I hate Google more than I hate Apple, so ....... we just stick with icloud and its absolute shittiness.
It's sad to me that dropbox still exists in 2023. I was hoping many years ago that they would have died a slow, painful, miserable death ... that they very so much deserve. But here we are.
This is exactly why I cringe when any company support or communities say “check out our discord!” Which equals to me “you’ll never find anything and we don’t care!”
"Maybe we'd all be happier with just a nice plot of land and some plants to tend to and perhaps some hobbies to keep us busy. And maybe it would keep us healthier (both mentally as well as physically) as well. "
And where is the fantasy world where "we all" have enough money for this?
ENTIRE vinyl villages of McMansions will be unlivable. They aren't even built to last the standard 30y mortgage because the builders know the initial buyers will sell and move on. Cheapest possible 2x4's with worst insulation ever known, all covered up in plastic siding. But hey, it's 10k sq ft right?
This is great! It really makes me yearn for a VIA like application to rise to popularity for mice. I still have trouble doing any kind of software anything with almost all popular modern mice on linux. There's an open razer app that's popular, but I think that's maybe it? I had a Glorious mouse for a long while I loved, but couldn't do a thing with it software wise.
Thanks for the info, and the link. I will read it over. I'm thinking I'll probably move back to PopOS when they release their DE Cosmic. I used to run pop and loved it, but really wanted to try an arch distro. Endeavor looks great, but I'm not interested in anything "terminal centric" which is the first sentence on their site. But thanks for the suggestion!
Not bad at all even when on full - if you have sound up or headphones on you won't even notice. The one thing that does bother me though about the fans is that sometimes they repeatedly go on/off in rapid succession over and over and over. I think whatever game is running must just be RIGHT at the thermal threshold so it keeps going under/over and triggering the fan to turn on and then shut off. I wish in these cases it would just switch on for good and stay on low rpms instead of all the on/off.
I'm running an up to date Manjaro system, and although I have kernel 6.1.9-1 available as an option, it's not installed and it's not listed as LTS nor is it "recommended".
Does this mean that'll change soon with an update, and I should start running this kernel?
Looks like HGST continues to rule the pack, similar to prior years. Though, I thought the entire brand of HGST was set to be discontinued and Western Digital just taking over all naming / marketing / etc... I even see when I search for "ultrastar" or similar, it's all currently branded Western Digital. Does backblaze get some special enterprise gear?
I don't know ... Neuromancer is amazing and groundbreaking. Will they do it justice? Having the show creator being most known for writing on Lost is .................. not inspiring to say the least. Plus the adaptation on Apple TV+ of Foundation was god awful. I'm not holding out much hope for this one. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised.
This is what it was for me as well. Which was tough to diagnose, since I would hit "download" in a random gdrive folder, and just literally nothing would happen. It would just sit there. No message, no error, etc. So frustrating. Once I figured out you had to turn 3rd party cookies on, it worked fine. I quickly moved all my work stuff to box.com and personal stuff to protondrive and just stopped using gdrive altogether.
