Quillbert182··on Vodafone unveils prototype 5G network built on a Raspberry Pi computer
So that's where they all went.
Quillbert182··on Difficult to impossible travel across wide swaths of the U.S.
Meanwhile, it was 80 degrees in Atlanta today. It's funny how the weather can be so different in regions that really aren't all that far apart.
Quillbert182··on Half of Americans now believe that news organizations deliberately mislead them
I certainly agree with that sentiment. It is my belief that the modern American press is the enemy of the people, as they rarely do anything but cause strife.
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
By "provocation" I imagine the commenter means "pulled out a weapon."
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
Frankly, even if he did shoot second, which is unlikely, he almost certainly pulled a gun on the police, which would justify the shooting regardless.
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
If someone else had shot the gun, there would have been physical evidence of another person in the immediate area, which we would have heard about by now.
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
If the police shot first, he would be dead before he shot the officer.
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
It gets past an editor when the editor has an agenda.

A bullet from his gun was found in the state trooper's abdomen, and I find it extremely hard to believe that Teran shot a state trooper after being shot multiple times, especially given cops' tendencies to shoot until a target stops moving.

Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
There isn't any bodycam footage, but I find it extremely hard to believe that Teran managed to shoot a police officer after he had been shot several times.
Quillbert182··on ‘Assassinated in cold blood’: activist killed protesting Georgia’s ‘Cop City’
Teran shot a state trooper immediately before he was shot. I'd say his shooting was justified.
Quillbert182··on Plant-based meat is turning out to be a flop
I will not eat fake meat (including lab grown meat) for one simple reason: it weirds me out. I will happily eat tofu, black bean burgers, and the like, but I cannot emotionally bring myself to eat fake meat.
Quillbert182··on UT-Austin blocks access to TikTok on campus Wi-Fi networks
I would like them to treat the CCP as a malicious entity.
Quillbert182··on UT-Austin blocks access to TikTok on campus Wi-Fi networks
It seems to me like it might be a good idea to require citizenship to create an LLC.
Quillbert182··on UT-Austin blocks access to TikTok on campus Wi-Fi networks
There is no freedom of international trade enshrined anywhere in the U.S. governmental system.
Quillbert182··on ‘That girl is going to get herself killed’ (2022)
My family vacations growing up were often to National Parks, and Glacier is definitely my favorite.

On my first trip there, when I was hiking with my family on the Iceberg Lake trail, a couple appeared running back towards us with their bear spray pointed behind them. We were at first concerned that they were running from a bear, but a few moments later, a moose appeared behind them trotting down the trail. We turned around and booked it back down the trail until we found a spot where we could get off the trail behind some trees, and the moose ended up turning off.

That was quite a scare at the time, and it could have ended very poorly, but it makes for a great story now.

Quillbert182··on Lingua Graeca Per Se Illustrata
It is woefully inadequate. It uses exclusively the present tense and misses the vast majority of the language's grammar.
Quillbert182··on MIT faculty adopts “Statement on Freedom of Expression and Academic Freedom”
You keep a close eye on them and then throw them in prison once they commit an actual crime.
Quillbert182··on China stages 'strike drills' around Taiwan, citing provocation
I’m sure Lockheed Martin and Raytheon would love to replenish the supply if we ever start to run low.
Quillbert182··on TikTok banned on government devices under spending bill passed by Congress
Freedom of speech is not freedom of international trade.
Quillbert182··on Raspberry Pi 5 not arriving in 2023
The main benefit of the Raspberry Pi in my opinion is the support. The documentation for the device is spectacular, and the community support is extremely good. Now, I don't feel this warrants paying $170 for the device, but when they are available at MSRP, this is quite the deal.
Quillbert182··on New Zealand passes legislation banning cigarettes for future generations
No one is forcing people to buy cigarettes.
Quillbert182··on I liberate the ending to Minecraft from Microsoft and give it to you
It is that easy, if you're willing to pay Microsoft a monthly fee. If not, then you can also use the open to LAN button on any world, but that will also require port forwarding.
Quillbert182··on I liberate the ending to Minecraft from Microsoft and give it to you
There's an "ending" in terms of there is an event that gets the credits to play, but you can continue to play afterwords, and there is a not insignificant amount of content unlocked by triggering the event. You can also easily play forever without achieving this ending.
Quillbert182··on Tell HN: IPv6-only still pretty much unusable
I just started University, and as a result I have had my first experience of Internet without NAT. The firewall rules provided are simply On or Off, which has been very strange to me, and it doesn’t seem all that secure.
Quillbert182··on Man Alarmed to Become Only Guest at $400000 Metaverse Party
From my experience, at least among older teens, Minecraft is the game that fulfills the metaverse's role. It allows people to do just about anything they want, especially if you use mods, and it is very easy to play with friends.
Quillbert182··on Mandatory helmet laws make cyclists less safe
Yeah, I know someone who has no issue seeing people biking who look like they are going somewhere, but he absolutely hates people who look like they are biking for exercise. His logic is that roads are built for transportation, and people shouldn’t be blocking parts of the road to get a workout in.
Quillbert182··on Twitter layoffs gutted election information teams days before midterms
Don’t you mean… doubleplusgood?
Quillbert182··on I Posted on YouTube Consistently for 1 Month. This Is What Happened
I personally have found some excellent content through YT's recommendations. For example, the algorithm introduced me to LockPickingLawyer, Taskmaster, and Jet Lag: The Game.
Quillbert182··on FCC commissioner says government should ban TikTok
I think the hope is that the replacement is not Chinese.
