PrgsvThgt··on Proposed Tax Reform Stands to Impact Equity and Performance-Based Compensation
Personally happy to see that the new tax code appears to reduce the inequality between staff and executives, with regard to compensation and taxation. I'm a strong advocate for leveling the playing field for EVERYONE; because it eliminates (or reduces to the extent possible) the ability to negotiate these special options for "deferred" compensation.... for which the vast majority of us will never qualify.

I was trying to bring into focus some key challenges. I've personally known two people whom overdosed on heroine. It's a tragedy, for certain. However, I'm just trying to indicate that we have tragedies happening, all over. I think everyone has a very emotional reaction to this issue. I'm just asking people to think about the data...

As for this company, maybe they are guilty, I don't know. If they are, shame on them!!

My uncle eventually died of bone cancer (metastatic). His last few months were awful. They were less-awful, because he had a fentanyl patch, that we replace every 24 hours.

Please be thoughtful, that's all I'm asking.

Does anyone struggle with the fact that 1) people who are very sick or injured need pain control and 2) the only tool in a doctor's bag is an opoid and 3) we are somehow going after the people that produce the opoids that patients need, to live a less-painful life?

Far more people die annually of alcohol related illnesses, than do opoid overdoses. This is the "crisis" is not a crisis at all. In fact, if you review the CDC's numbers, the rate of increase in opoid related deaths and the total number, relative to other more significant causes of death, are unremarkable. [link] https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/leading-causes-of-death.htm

By the numbers, we should be tripling and quadrupling the amount of money for mental health treatment to reduce suicide and alcohol dependency.

Please, before you vote down or troll me, review the numbers yourself. The numbers speak for themselves [link]https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hus/hus16.pdf#019

I lived in NYC when Crazy Eddie was big. Never realized he ran such a scam. Thanks for the post. LOL

Conflating volatility with "problem causing" is an error of logic.

Water boils at 212F, melts at 32F. It is a sufficient model of evcaporation. For dicamaba to have a sufficient concentration to harm (even targeted plants) it must be rather concentrated, compared to what one might find in concentrations produced by condensation (one field over). Having a degree in organic chemistry and thousands of hours of bench chemistry, I can speak with some authority on the matter.

Where is the evidence to suggest that evaporated dicamba is able to condense in sufficient quantity to effect plants at a distance?

I've lived among large production farm, much of my life. The application of spray products (keyword: sprayers that produce mists of liquid products) are easily caught and carried by the lightest winds.

Dicamba does not "evaporate" in any appreciable amount. It is highly soluble in water and has a melting point 237-241 degrees F.... The water would evaporate, leaving the chemical behind.

That disparity is confusing to me, too. My interpretation is that the spread between the actual value of the "items as-delivered" and the "paper cost of the items as-described" was the method used by the defendant to collateralize the liens of credit?

This sounds similar to check "kiting" [link]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Check_kiting , that was popular before electronic checking transactions made it nearly impossible. "Kiting" was the art of having multiple checking accounts and passing ever-increasing amounts of money, from one account to the other. In the old days, it took a couple of days to process checks, especially when the back accounts resided in distinct federal reserve regions (which means the checks would physically traverse the federal reserve banks... which took days for delivery).

This article seems to reference a personality trait that seems to be lacking in modern society: grit. Just my person opinion. Heck, I've lacked grit, in some situations.

For a good (motivational) read about the definition of grit, who's got it, and why it matters, I recommend Angela Duckworth [link]http://angeladuckworth.com/
