I've actually been documenting stories of self-taught and bootcamp developers on my website for 3 years. It's amazing the variety of backgrounds that people have had before getting into programming. Just last week I interviewed a woman who was a Beauty Therapist until Covid hit and they wanted a career change. I also have a job board for self-taught and bootcamp-friendly positions: www.nocsdegree.com
If anyone in this thread wants to be featured, let me know.
Startups can be making millions but won't get any news coverage unless they raise venture capital.

In many ways TikTok re-creates the best part of myspace - being able to express your personality. You can dance, make fun of yourself, post a thirst trap or make history memes. You can't do any of that on Facebook and I'm sure the fact your videos can go viral is way more appealing.
You're doing great things with Slip and I think there is a big gap in the market here.
If anyone wants to know more about Kenneth, I interviewed him recently: https://www.nocsdegree.com/six-figure-software-engineer-sala...
Indiehackers has a very active forum.
There are also telegram communities like wip.chat (paid) or makerlog (free)
There are also millions of pages on things like python vs javascript, react vs angular . Developers have lots of opinions so you shouldn't find it too hard to find out why languages have different features.
I have some hobbies still like reading (non biz) and fitness but work dominates a lot of my time.
A self-taught developer AND a solofounder AND self-funded.
I would re-think talent. Pieter works hard.
Talent can lead you to think people are born to be successful.
Pieter just works hard. Work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Thanks
