About Axonic:
In 2008 our company Axonic had its first international success with www.lookeen.com, which is sold in more than 130 countries of the world up to now. Lookeen is a very fast Outlook and desktop search solution.
We gained a lot of experience and concentrated all our interests on our new project called Zenkit (https://zenkit.com). Zenkit is a SaaS project management plattform. You can organize your ideas, tasks, projects or your complete business.
Time-blocking could be a help. You block a few hours where no one should interrupt you, shut down your phone and close your e-mail client and just focus on work. In the beginning, it´s a bit wired because you don´t need to do anything else while working but you get used to it and become more concentrated.
More Infos: https://zenkit.com/en/blog/why-you-should-be-time-blocking-a...
I started a startup together with a colleague. It´s a lot of work and you don´t get rich (as you said) but there are so many other points that matter. The teams are friendlier, open-minded and are more family than employees. You share time together and work is not strictly planned. Yes, you can learn a lot but you need to work hard to do so and failure is part of it.
First thing, apply for companies you like even if there is no fitting job posting. Then search for job postings read them carefully and if you like it, have a look at the company website and some rating sites for employers (like kununu). If everything is fine and you could imagine working there, apply for the job. Get to know the team and everything else at the interview. Afterwards, you know if you want this job or not.
You got used to being unmotivated. As others mentioned before, you need a bit of discipline.
But discipline alone is not the point. I would recommend using productivity techniques. Checklists might be to easy but getting things done or eat that frog are great methods. At the beginning it´s hard, but as you constantly use them, it will become a habit. And, for me, it´s a great feeling and boosts my motivation when I see what I have already finished or when I´m able to set one task to "done". I personally use getting things done and it really helps to stay focused, you can also use "time blocking" to concentrate on your tasks or to make sure you got time to do nothing at all.
If you need more info about all the methods, have a look at our blog, there are articles about many possibilities to boost productivity and enhance your motivation: https://zenkit.com/en/blog
I don't think you are a bad developer just because your focus is on two languages. Othe devs might enjoy the possibility to learn more.
With more languages, you may have better job opportunities.
If you want to track visits or conversions on your website and aren't a good programmer, I would recommend using Tag Managers like Google Tag Manager. You can organize every Tag in this manager instead of changing your whole code by your own.
I could recommend Zenkit. It´s a SaaS for project management but because of its flexibility, it can be used for almost everything and with every size of a team.
Use the List or Kanban view to organize your tasks, set labels for prioritization and set up a custom field with estimated hours. The different columns in your Kanban Board can show the sum of all the hours in this column. You can also add start and end dates and view everything in the calendar.
There is so much more you can do just have a look at the features we offer or the templates. Maybe this task planner template would be a good start: https://zenkit.com/templates/18
I would suggest writing about a problem or a method in this areas and at the end of the article, you can say "hey! I can help you solve this problem, get to know more!" or say how you would solve this problem and offer to help them do it.
Startups are great but it´s a lot of work until you earn money. You need to invest a lot of time and money, maybe you can win investors to kick-start your business. But before quitting your job, you should organize as many things as you can for your startup while you are working at this call centre. You could also step back and say you want to work part-time in the call centre and the other half you can work on your startup.
"Draw Milan"..pretty ambitious task. Obviously DaVinci didn't consider breaking down the tasks into smaller pieces. The GTD method involves this concept directly in its flow. In today's world, the breaking up of tasks is especially valuable. Here's an article about GTD from our blog: https://zenkit.com/en/blog/a-beginners-guide-to-getting-thin...
There are a lot of online communities where you can ask for feedback. HackerNews may one. Because of the free feedback, such services may only work if there is more than just feedback. On the other hand, many companies have their own graphics and web designer, so they won't need feedback.
I like your idea but as was said before, it would only work when you want to focus on special groups. You should think about offering just a few features for paying customers and the rest is for free. You could sell advertising on your website to cover the costs.
We use Kanban for several departments because our Tool Zenkit is not only a Kanban Board. You can work with multiple data views, for example, a Calendar.
In Marketing, we use it for task management. Prioritization can be used via due dates, the order of the items or by setting labels with "high", "medium" or "low". We add almost everything to the board to have a good overview of the workload or we add checklists to an item where we can see what to do within this task.
Everyone can move his items to "Done" and I get informed or we use the column "need confirmation" to check if the task is all done. And with the Calendar view, a team calendar isn´t a problem anymore.
I use Getting Things Done with our own Tool Zenkit. The most time I work with Kanban Boards and organize everything in several columns (e.g. Inbox, To do today, next actions, calendar). I work with it every day and are happy when I can tick off the tasks I already did. For appointments and due dates, I switch to the calendar view to have a good overview. In Kanban, you can see your progress by having a look at the "Done" column.
At first, I organized everything with pen & paper but I always forgot to take my planner with me, so I switched to our online tool.
We use Zenkit to keep track. It´s our own tool and simple to use.
You can use the Checklist-feature in every data view. To get back to your question, we normally use the Kanban View and assign team member to each task. Once a week we meet and go through the tasks - What is done? Do we need a follow-up? What do we have to do now? Priorities? And so on... You can think of it as a mix of the methodologies of Kanban and Scrum.
For more instructions, you could have a look at our templates or the documentation: https://zenkit.com
As many others, we build our own tool and by now we are named as a "Trello-killer" by Make use of. https://zenkit.com can be used to organize anything in the way you want it. You can choose between several data views and switch whenever you want. Use a lot of customization features to show your data as you need it. From a simple list view through kanban and databases, everything is possible.
It´s available for every device, without limitation. There is also a Snap for Linux.
Why are drugs so in common these days? I think everyone is able to reach their goals with other methods as well. Train your brain, get enough sleep and try meditation for example. You just need the right plan and the ability to really do it instead of procrastination.
We use our own tool https://zenkit.com for project management and it works great. You need one person who overlooks the tasks and reorganizes it when there is something wrong. The person organizing the Tech Team (like you) should know at least the basics of the technical stuff you use or what you (can) do.
Is some info missing, you can just ask other persons via @mentions. At Zenkit there is a rule, that we need to answer to such mentions as fast as possible. The whole work becomes easier because you don´t need to call someone and you and the whole team can see what everyone is up to.
For all these tasks we use the kanban view (like to-do, in progress, done) and many companies set a rule, that one person should only have for example three tasks assigned to him on to-do.
It´s not easy to distribute on the bigger App Stores but the biggest challenge would be to become known. You need to get covered in Magazines and blogs, reviews are also great and maybe, if you have enough money, you could pay to get featured on the main page of the app stores. You need good pitches and a lot of work to get in contact with authors.
We want to build Zenkit as an Allrounder for your private life and your Business. At the moment it´s a tool which combines project management, task management, collaboration and many more. You can organize almost every department of your business with Zenkit. The best thing, you can switch views, personalize and customize it just the way you need it. If you need just a simple to-do list, no problem. You need to build a database and connect it to different tables, you can do that too.
Every business uses a lot of different tools which don´t "talk" to each other. Different departments are separated by different tools and data silos, not up-to-date files and a bad project overview are the problems. With Zenkit we want to build a connection between every team and department.
There is so much more to say about it. So if you are interested you could visit our website here: https://zenkit.com
With cloud-based Software, it´s easier to work with a remote team or share things with your customers. I know that in the future everything in business is moving into online storage with a backup somewhere. If your PC is damaged, the data and files are mostly gone forever but with a cloud-based memory, it´s not a problem anymore.
A CEO should love the company and the products or services which you offer, so ask questions to find out about his opinion and his passion. You could ask directly or with some indirect questions to get a glimpse. I also would recommend talking about not job-related topics to build a friendly connection between the potential CEO and employees. A good CEO is also interested in his employees and should be on good terms with them, not a real friendship maybe but a respectful connection.
Working out improves my life very much and is a good balance between life and career. I go to the gym and do cross fit once a week in the park.
Another good decision was to join Zenkit (a project management tool) as COO. This tool is amazing and I´m so proud what it became in about 1,5 years and I´m curious what it will become in the future. It´s a lot of work but I love what I do.
I think it´s not only GDPR and the problem who would be responsible for support, technical failures and other problems. It´s most likely that large enterprises don´t want to use a SaaS because it needs time and resources to get all information from your old system into the new one and get everyone trainings with the program.
We have some people working remote and it´s difficult to include them. But we skype with them for face-to-face meetings and at the beginning, everyone is saying something about himself. I would also recommend communicating via Chat like Slack or something similar. If there is an upcoming team event I would also consider to send them an invitation regardless if they are able to come but they might feel more like they are welcome. We also give them a briefing with some research tasks to get to know the company and the new job. Afterwards, the team leader will get in touch with them, explain everything and help them settle down into the team.
For collaboration, task management and project management we use our own tool Zenkit (https://zenkit.com). It´s easy to get started because you can use different views. If you used another tool, it´s more likely that you want to use the same view in Zenkit to get started.
There are a lot of online platforms to communicate and share your ideas. But I´m not sure if you want to share your idea before it´s implemented. Visit some events and conferences about similar topics and get in touch with the people there or try to communicate via such platforms I mentioned without getting away too much info about your idea.
It´s possible founding something on your own and try to find someone afterwards but this might be hard work until then.
I would recommend books like "eat that frog" or "getting things done". They show great insides of productivity methods and gave me something to think about. I can establish them in my daily business life and enhance my productivity.
