ParksNet··on Walmart aims for 65% of stores to be automation serviced by 2026
Wouldn't it be easier to enforce the laws and imprison criminals than to entirely reinvent retail?
ParksNet··on Binance has Australian financial services licence cancelled by ASIC
Clearing the decks before CBDC.
ParksNet··on Adding capacity to the electricity grid is not a simple task
Functioning electricity network + DEI = South Africa.
ParksNet··on E3 Has Been Canceled
AAA gaming - as we have known it - is dead as long as major platforms continue with 30% commissions. All of the profits accrue to the platform owners, with studios either failing or being acquired by them.

The end result is a weak industry mostly dominated by skinner box free2play games or gambling apps.

ParksNet··on Intel graphics chief Raja Koduri leaves after five years battling Nvidia and AMD
Intel should scour Jensen Huang and Lisa Su's family tree to find more GPU Executives.

(Jensen is the CEO and founder of Nvidia and the uncle of the CEO of AMD, both are from Taiwan.)

ParksNet··on France’s President Macron overrides parliament to pass retirement age bill
If my parents-in-law didn't receive social security, it would be easier to convince them to sell their house and move interstate closer to us and provide babysitting services (which would encourage us to have more kids).

Unlimited welfare for the elderly is anti-natalist.

ParksNet··on Studies Link Marijuana Legalization to Positive Public Health Outcomes
What about usage levels for all other age groups?
ParksNet··on Three Million U.S. Households Making over $150k Are Still Renting

ParksNet··on Online tests suggest IQ scores in US dropped for first time in nearly a century
Probably reflects demographic changes within the US over the past several years.
ParksNet··on Arkansas Gov. Sanders signs law loosening child labor protections
Many children are unsuited to full high-school education. It would be better for everyone to send them into the workplace.
ParksNet··on Maybe treating housing as an investment was a mistake
Simpler than that: just enact State, County, or HOA bans on corporations from owning single-family homes. Let them pour money into apartment complexes.
ParksNet··on Why Most Gun Laws Aren’t Backed Up by Evidence
Its an easy topic: demographics.
ParksNet··on Louisiana now requires a government ID to access Pornhub
I fear this will be a stalking horse for full digital identity, and eventually squashing all anonymous speech.

The best solution here would be to force all adult sites to require a minimum monthly payment from a credit card. Blocks underage users and helps tackle addiction.

ParksNet··on Alphabet Earnings Report Q3 2022 [pdf]
How much do DEI initiatives, directly related staff (Director of 'Belonging' etc), and non-meritocratic hiring practices impact profitability?

What about the alienation of staff and users considered part of 'legacy' demographics?

ParksNet··on Man says he lowered his town’s water fluoride for over a decade
People rebel against fluoride, but ignore pesticide residues, PFAS contamination, leachates from plastic piping...
ParksNet··on Google is “concerned” that Samsung is losing customers to Apple
Apple has an entire ecosystem it can charge commissions for: Apps, Wallet, Arcade, iTunes, Music, iCloud, etc.

Samsung has none of that - AND doesn't control the operating system.

Apple has a long-term incentive to support devices through software updates and hardware upgrades. This is reflected in used prices: an iPhone 12 still sells at about 50% of original launch price, whereas a Samsung Galaxy S20 (both released in 2020) sells for 25%.

ParksNet··on White House is pushing ahead research to cool Earth by reflecting back sunlight
We need to strip CO2 out of the atmosphere too. CO2 is a known cognitive retardant [1], ocean acidifier[2], and plant nutrition degrader[2].

ParksNet··on Netflix’s ad tier will cost $6.99 a month and launch in November
Spend more on licensing back-catalogues.
ParksNet··on Netflix’s ad tier will cost $6.99 a month and launch in November
Netflix should have just doubled their prices and 'doubled' the content they offered. Would have smothered all these other streaming services. The horse has bolted now.
ParksNet··on Geothermal may beat batteries for energy storage
How effectively does the ground maintain this heat, and how much of it dissipates up and out?

As a side effect: using a heat pump to heat the ground during summer also cools the building on top! (When its at the other side of the heat pump loop)

ParksNet··on Microbes that cause cavities can form superorganisms able to ‘crawl’
Its difficult to find Xylitol gum that uses traditional tree sap and not plastic resin (and also doesn't contain added sugar). Any suggestions?
ParksNet··on California pledges to cut use of the Colorado river
Hopefully we can eliminate lawns as a mainstream American concept. Landscaped pollinator gardens are so much easier to maintain, require less fertilizer and pesticides (and runoff), require less water, and are better to look at!
ParksNet··on Israel, Norway and Sweden central banks partner with BIS to explore CBDC payment
Great Reset proceeding as planned. Wrong-thinkers can be more easily un-personed when Government and global entities control and monitor all transactions.
ParksNet··on The crisis of England's rural homelessness
> Although 71 percent of our respondents work with migrants experiencing homelessness, there are no targeted organizations that provide specialist support for this group

The specialist support provided should be a one-way flight back to their home country, and for the UK Military to patrol the channel to prevent people smuggling, copying the strategy of Australia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Solution

ParksNet··on Ask HN: Have you experienced “hiring fraud?”
What was the national background of the candidate?
ParksNet··on Charging cars at home at night is not the way to go: study
Each car is typically driven 35 miles daily in the USA. Against a capacity of ~250 miles, this represents many days of non-charging, and thus a lot of flexibility in when charging occurs.

EVs can potentially strengthen the grid: if they are charged smartly, to balance demand.

We need manufacturers, regulators, grid operators to align on how to figure this out.

At the least, grid conditions/pricing should be sent to the car for smart charging.

Mandating 240volt connections in all garages and a large portion of apartment parking lots would also enable the solar excesses of the day to be quickly utilized.

ParksNet··on British pound plunges, bonds sink after government announces tax cuts
Given the demographic challenges of Europe (sub-replacement fertility of the most productive and the vast influx of net-negative aliens), it is wise to crash the system: Abandon welfare, pensions and subsidized healthcare.

With those shackles thrown off, countries have a chance of regrowth. The nation state can maintain national (and border) security, run natural monopolies, regulate pollutants, and that's it. Fund those services with Land Value Taxes.

The alternative is endlessly raising taxes and throwing the country into a deaths-spiral.

ParksNet··on Video shows GOP fake elector giving 'unauthorized access' to voting equipment
Why use voting machines at all? Just stick to pen and paper.
ParksNet··on The anti-inflation pivot of 2022
The USA is emptying the Strategic Petroleum Reserve at a rate of 1 million barrels per day. Crude is typically extracted from the ground at about 15 million per day by that country.

When the SPR draining is finished (for midterms), upward pressure on energy prices globally will resume.
