NetMageSCW··on Tesla takes on $30B in credit as it approaches unprofitability
They (Elon) gambled they could reduce the price of the rest of the truck enough to make an “affordable” BEV by radical changing how it was built - turns out that wasn’t possible.

Ford gambled they could build a BEV truck like an F150 and make it affordable enough to attract their normal buyers. Turns out that wasn’t possible.

I’m not sure I see why one failure was better than the other.

Perhaps you should be taking his keys instead. Though tire rotation is just an economic decision (I haven’t had a car that could have its tires rotated in decades) not a safety decision. Just means tire will need replacing sooner.

When you bought a BEV and need to recharge on a road trip. And have the car prepare the battery for charging. And make sure the charging station will be working and available when you arrive.

I guess they were all written by teenagers.
NetMageSCW··on So long Google, and thanks for all the nudes
The iPhone 1 only allowed web bookmarks. They aren’t as capable as real apps in dozens of ways. The fact that lots of Apps are just glorified web site browsers doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of apps that aren’t, and some that couldn’t be done with a web site at all.
NetMageSCW··on So long Google, and thanks for all the nudes
There are very good reasons, starting with the fact that there was no good mobile app experience before Apple created one. And they created one that was half the cost of the terrible stores that existed before.

And they created the hardware and software to make all this possible.

Cost of settlement is not proportional to work required.
NetMageSCW··on Automattic has a new board after failed attempt to put CEO on leave
Only if you believe it is their fiduciary duty to remove him, and that is a long stretch unlikely to make it though the lawsuits.

What was the abuse?
NetMageSCW··on Finally, A True Blue Rose Exists
Seems like they need to remove any of the Red genes?
NetMageSCW··on Finally, A True Blue Rose Exists
Why not? You have something against violet blue?
NetMageSCW··on Ten lines of code that changed my world
I disagree as that doesn’t introduce using the B environment with a Hello, world program which is the whole point. After K&R it was the canonical first program.

Yes?
NetMageSCW··on Excel now supports multiple values in a single cell
LOL

That should be were difficult to work with - that changed drastically with a new calculation engine. This just makes arrays more of a first class cell type.
NetMageSCW··on Excel now supports multiple values in a single cell
Most of those were updated with the switch to the array first calculation engine (with a few glaring exceptions) so this capability should already be supported.

You can switch to the 1904 date system to be Mac compatible and avoid the bug as well.
NetMageSCW··on Excel now supports multiple values in a single cell
Having used Framework very extensively at one time, I would say that is one of the best thing about Excel.

OTOH, LAMBDA and LET enable moving the core of some calculations into user defined functions in the Name catalog. And Tables fix a lot of the cell reference issues though they need a lot of improvement to handle array spills.

NetMageSCW··on Excel now supports multiple values in a single cell
I would say the replacement of the calculation engine with an array first engine with spill, and array functions was even more powerful.
NetMageSCW··on New Satellite Engine Could Use Earth's Atmosphere to Stay in Orbit Indefinitely
Feels like someone SpaceX would be very interested in hiring.

Too bad this wasn’t available for SWIFT.

NetMageSCW··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
It would take more energy than all the satellites put together to drop heat pellets into the sun.

The movie Gravity was not a documentary. It broke more laws of physics than the claims about data centers do.

I suggest talking to people in Ukraine or Africa or even rural US or Europe before you so blithely take away their access to healthcare, education and communication.

I think the failures of most rocket startups to launch even with billions of dollars and thousands of real engineers shows how unlikely this is.

And say you do build an orbital class rocket and manage to launch it without anyone noticing before you do - how many of e.g. Starlink’s 11,000 satellites will you be able to damage? What real impact will that have on Starlink?
