MrGando··on Comparing a recurrent neural network with a Markov chain
No, I don't think it is (just reading the title here)
MrGando··on The Weird Global Appeal of Heavy Metal
As a Chilean, I can confirm. I played in 4 metal bands while being between 15 and 26. And enciclopedia metallum is crazy, even I am there! (And we were pretty underground)

Today I still play my instrument (piano) and enjoy metal, jazz (which is also big in chile) and classical music mostly :)

MrGando··on The Secret Ingredient in Orange Juice
I'm not talking about GMO being more harmful than regular foods. I am, indeed, making a point about Montsanto.

There's much, much more than meets the eye about GMOs, how Montsanto is using the seeds and the actual repercussions of it. The debate, is not around 'GMOs being more harmful', at all.

MrGando··on The Secret Ingredient in Orange Juice
There's no such thing as "take out all the oxygen". You can take a bunch, but after a point it get's hard and expensive to keep reducing oxygen concentrations to super low (not zero) levels.
MrGando··on The Secret Ingredient in Orange Juice
I concede that it's very unlikely to taste the difference between a GMO/non-GMO tomato.

But are you okay with Montsanto's practices?

There's good science that basically explains that their business model is not doing the best for the planet or the people living in it. It is, indeed reducing bio-diversity as far as I know. Also, their practices are super shady, having lived in latam all my life, I saw the way they got into several countries there and it's disgusting.

MrGando··on Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer Faces Morale Challenge

MrGando··on Mark Zuckerberg Will Take Two Months Off from Facebook for Paternity Leave
I'm glad to see this.

I can't believe that in the US, paternity/maternity leave is something that is left for 'the market to decide'. I was hoping for Marissa Mayer to lead and set the example for maternity leave... but she took two weeks... I couldn't really believe it, I was pretty disappointed. In my eyes what she did, sent a pretty sad message for women, her employees, and other companies.

I think Mark taking two weeks off, is an example, for everyone. His employees (male, female, etc) and other companies. Hey, maybe even the Government can learn from this.

TD;LR, glad Mark did this. Kudos.

MrGando··on iFixit App Pulled from Apple’s Store
Some devs that actually wanted those for good didn't get any because asses like these guys wanted them to get more page views (thus taking slots).
MrGando··on Things I was unprepared for as a lead developer
You can be both.
MrGando··on Things I was unprepared for as a lead developer
I totally agree. Lead developers write code, also remove real, tangible and hard roadblocks in the code for the team... this sounds like a bureaucratic nightmare. I think he was turned into a manager without him realizing it.
MrGando··on Things I was unprepared for as a lead developer
I think he's more manager than team/tech lead. Team/Tech leads code quite a bit as far as I know

MrGando··on Handling App Transport Security in iOS 9
Can you imagine how many servers would they have to actually add exceptions for?
MrGando··on Handling App Transport Security in iOS 9
No, they won't be rejecting apps based on that setting. They know this is a progressive measure, and maybe some day in the future they will... but if you watch this year's WWDC session on this topic, it's pretty clear that they won't be rejecting anyone.
MrGando··on Handling App Transport Security in iOS 9
I'm pretty sure Google will eventually enforce HTTPs for their third party ad-networks. The problem is that a lot of those guys live in the Paleolithic era regarding security, google needs their inventory, so it's not as simple as just saying: "dude you're going down if you don't do HTTPs now".

And it's also easy to just say "google should just suck it up and take their losses and just do HTTPS". You have to think that a lot of games rely on Google having a big ad inventory to monetize (and it's their only revenue model).

I don't work at Google, but do work in ad-tech. The HTTPS only move by Apple is great and will make a lot of things better... But it's going to take a while.

PS: Check prices of CDNs with SSL... They are also expensive.

MrGando··on Vim is moving to GitHub
Sweet!

Hopefully this will give the project more exposure :)

MrGando··on The History of Magic: The Gathering Online
Totally agree with you, this is not an easy task at all, totally the opposite. And that's why I state that Worth is completely underprepared to tackle such a challenge.

And still, it would make a great case of analysis... I see it as one of the biggest -and saddest- failures in Digital Gaming (if not the greatest), of the last 20 years.

MrGando··on The History of Magic: The Gathering Online
I've been playing MTGO since the end of v2. Someone should write a book about how badly managed this game is. The guy in charge of the thing "Worth" has o real technical background whatsoever, and you can see how that affects the vision and goals of the product.

It's a disgrace. And should be a software case study.

PS: been playing MtG since 1995

Hello xanadohnt!

I apologize, I honestly think this might have been a mistake/confusion :)

Would you mind if I get in touch with you (or you send me an email) to figure out what happened?

Cheers!
