Mouvelie··on I built a light that reacts to radio waves [video]
What an excellent video.

Depsite visiting Hackernews multiple times a day, I am not a tech person. Seeing people creating such thing in a way I can undestand (which is maybe...10-15 % of the posts here ?) is so refreshing !

The editing is sharp, the setup looks so cool and the channel !

Thank you for making this !

Mouvelie··on Michelangelo's first painting, created when he was 12 or 13
Fun fact ! Michelangelo hated doing the ceiling thing.

Et bah c'est bien !
Mouvelie··on Murder-suicide case shows OpenAI selectively hides data after users die
The Ministry of Peace concerns itself with war, the Ministry of Truth with lies, the Ministry of Love with torture and OpenAI with closed data.
Mouvelie··on All AI Videos Are Harmful (2025)
No, you are given someone else vision of anything you want. If you are being 100 % honest with yourself, the output of a prompt would never be exactly what you imagined. This is where YOUR creativity dies. Yes, you create, but you create through the filter of someone else. If this ceiling of creativity is enough for you, good. You will never break through it anyway, by design.
Mouvelie··on I'm Kenyan. I don't write like ChatGPT, ChatGPT writes like me
A nice metaphor, really. I always compared it to food but clothing works more in that case, it seems.
Mouvelie··on Roomba maker goes bankrupt, Chinese owner emerges
How does it work then ? Explain us how the US, China, and India don't abuse of surveillance on whoever they can, please.
Mouvelie··on New Kindle feature uses AI to answer questions about books
Good lord, at this point just drone off in front of a Netflix show. How bad has it gotten that you even suggest that one can "forget what happened chapters earlier" ? This is not normal.
Mouvelie··on New Kindle feature uses AI to answer questions about books
"Amazon DID NOT answer PubLunch’s questions about “what rights the company was relying upon to execute the new feature was not answered, nor did they elaborate on the technical details of the service and any protections involved (whether to prevent against hallucinations, or to protect the text from AI training).”
Mouvelie··on New Kindle feature uses AI to answer questions about books
So...Are all Amazon books available on Kindle ? So...All books are content for the LLM behind it, I suppose ?

Welp. Seems perfect for a poison data effort !

Mouvelie··on I wasted years of my life in crypto
I'll do you one better in your prediction : there will be a global decentralized 24/7 multi assets marketplace built on something like Hedera in the next 10 years.
Mouvelie··on The New AI Consciousness Paper
My first start would be something like Earth itself or the Sun. Imagine the payoff if you survive !
Mouvelie··on Why aren't smart people happier?
Are smart people even fulfilled ? How many smart people work on industries they can't wait to quit ? On problems they don't even care ?

I feel like everyone within 2-standard division of the IQ mean is still susceptible to the never-ending that being rich and having money is all that matters instead of, I don't know, supporting life on the only habitable planet we know.

Mouvelie··on ChatGPT's Atlas: The Browser That's Anti-Web
Many thanks for that suggestion. I did not know the blog/article, and really, it was the most interesting hour of rabbithole I found in a while.
Mouvelie··on Claude Skills
You'd think so, eh ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_purpose_of_a_system_is_wha...
Mouvelie··on The brain navigates new spaces by 'darting' between reality and mental maps
A curious thing happened with the link of the article :

Clicking on it brought me to a 404. I found afterwards that the "correct" article does not mention "darting" but "flickering", even in the url. Why are some people mentionning "darting" when it appears nowhere in the text except on HN ? Am I having a mandela effect ? /S

Mouvelie··on Don't avoid workplace politics
What you wrote resonated with me, I think the same way and so, allow me the pushback. :) Does it have to be that way, a severance type of scenario where the work life is opposite of the "life" life ? I feel that it should, perhaps could, be different. Yeah, it depends on what you do for a living, your need for money and so on, but do people that win at career always lose at life ?
Mouvelie··on Why friction is necessary for growth
> In a world where one could snap their fingers and magically have everything, would "growth" be impossible?

Think this one through. Would growth even make sense ? What would be the meaning of getting everything you want ? Would such a life be worth it ?

If you ask me, I'd say that such a life would have no meaning for anyone involved and as such, maybe the universe would not even care to have that experience. I don't know, just spitballing there !

Mouvelie··on Why friction is necessary for growth
I always say that time is the best filter.

In the moment, you can be easily mistaken that something is good, or the best even if the marketing team of that something is really going hard at your wallet. But the only way, and they know it too well, to assess quality is to simply...wait and see later.

If you need a proof, here's one : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bookshop_Memories The "it was better before" is not a recent phenomenon, I think.

Mouvelie··on The treasury is expanding the Patriot Act to attack Bitcoin self custody
I feel like growing up is realizing that the government is just a big gang. They do what they want and will enforce with menace what they want. They can change the rules, take your stuff and it ain't stealing because they said so. Sigh.
Mouvelie··on The treasury is expanding the Patriot Act to attack Bitcoin self custody
Good for Bitcoin, then ? Is it becoming a form of Gold, for real ?
Mouvelie··on The treasury is expanding the Patriot Act to attack Bitcoin self custody
Which, I believe, would make it even more prevalent. It would be the confession that they cannot control it, and while most people would be deterred by this, I can see a shadow economy growing because (or thanks ?) to this.
Mouvelie··on Writing with LLM is not a shame
Using that way already reflects a great understanding of the technology bias, and a confidence in your own skills, that you just ask the feedback and not the output of the machine.

I think you could only develop this point of view because you grew up without it. I fear for the young generation, truly.

Mouvelie··on Making games in Go: 3 months without LLMs vs. 3 days with LLMs
Could never prove it, but would bet money that Marvel Snap for example is doing it right now.

Edit : oh yeah. A quick google search proved it : https://marvelsnapzone.com/bots/

Mouvelie··on Study: Social media probably can't be fixed
Yup. Knowing the exact percentage of those people would be hurtful to my soul I think, but I suspect they drive a meaningful percentage of business. Like that time when Netflix displayed shows on, because some people couldn't be bothered to actually choose something to watch ?
Mouvelie··on Study: Social media probably can't be fixed
Genuine question : are you scared for your job ? I see this tendency to use "synthetic personas" growing and frankly, having to explain why this sucks is insulting in itself. Decision makers are just not interested in having this kind of thought argument.
Mouvelie··on Genie 3: A new frontier for world models
Why even be sarcastic about it ? There is no human invention that has not exploded thanks (or because of) pornographic possibilities. HD-DVD vs Blueray, Internet...I'd even argue that XR is not as big as it could be because it is really clamped down to deviant usage !
Mouvelie··on Genie 3: A new frontier for world models
I don't know if you had the teenage years I had, but there would be A LOT of NSFW content made on that thing.
Mouvelie··on Face it: you're a crazy person
I like what you wrote, thanks for that comment.

>because I'm drawn to the project of creating a certain kind of space in the world, and having control over it so that it can stay close to my vision.

So you have multiple success conditions. You just want a space, maybe it's a restaurant ? A bar ? A pub ? Maybe it's actually just decorating it, not owning it ? Co-managing it ? Could be as well a hackerspace ? A school ?

> it's much harder for the meaning in your life to come from the work itself, because there are so many things waiting to punish you if you try to live that way. But there are still certainly ways to do it.

I'd say untrue. I see many colleagues identifying with their job even though they are "just" employees. The global economy, to some extent I'd say, run because of such people. Managers, directors, lead whatevers...

>In my opinion it should be a major goal of society to remove as many barriers to doing meaningful work as possible.

I'd argue the barriers are a feature, not a bug : how do you know you truly want something ? Make it hard to get. So only deserving people will get it, and we will have the best of it.
