Thankfully it's a demo account, and it's costing me a fortune but I thought a worthy experiment. You can see the logic, votes and thought process behind each council decision on the page. Aggression is set to max for this test
Monotoko··on Universe Pro appears to be a Ponzi-style crypto investment scheme
I've reached out to various news orgs and their investors and received no reply so decided to publish myself
Monotoko··on Universe Pro appears to be a Ponzi-style crypto investment scheme
Already has 5 million in investment from various funds and VCs
Monotoko··on The vintage beauty of Soviet control rooms (2018)
> It's not colourful but everything is well made because it's made for professionals.

Nuclear plants, planes, etc use colour so you can differentiate very quickly under pressure. Much easier to shout "THE RED BUTTON!!!" than "The second button five down from the left!"

Monotoko··on Ask HN: Would you play AI developed games?
I did too, and I'm pretty sure you're right... it won't be a profitable venture itself... but if you make a few games and keep players then perhaps you can sell that side to others as a development 'studio'

Or just be in it for the love of the game.. :)

Monotoko··on Train sim created by just one person is being called the best ever made
If you're flying a larger passenger plane into basically any major airport, ILS should get you most of the way down - you just need to control speed (you're looking for landing speed +10 by the end)

Depending where you're flying, some arrivals have gaps which threw me off massively when I first started - it's because IRL there's ATC there to guide you to the final intersection for the runway, usually 10NM out... so aim for that and capture ILS, it's quite a wide margin for capture.

If you're going manually, 10nm out you want to start descending at around 600-700fpm from ~3000ft and you should have visual on the runway at this point

Monotoko··on LLM Paper Trading
We've been running experiments and refining our trading harnesses for the past 2-3 months, another thing that affects it is the amount of money it has available - you can also build in personalities beforehand with different agents such as aggressive, moderate, wall street, etc

I'll keep an eye on your experiments and take notes!

Monotoko··on LLM Paper Trading
Interesting - do the models know they're paper trading without real money? I've found if they know that it affects their decision making
Monotoko··on Neanderthals survived on a knife's edge for 350k years
It was the cat, those little fluffy bastards walked into a human camp about 10,000 years ago and kicked everything off. That's why the Ancient Egyptians revered cats as Gods /s
Monotoko··on The Claude Code Source Leak: fake tools, frustration regexes, undercover mode
There's some repos I'm unashamedly keeping alive with Claude alone and he gets co-authorship - basically stuff in "maintenance mode" that I still use that I've forked and had Claude drag it into 2026

A quick PR where I've found the bug myself in the code, and ask Claude to write the fix because it's faster, and verified it - I don't include Claude's co-authorship.

Monotoko··on Claude Code's source code has been leaked via a map file in their NPM registry
Very easily these days, even if minified is difficult for me to reverse engineer... Claude has a very easy time of finding exactly what to patch to fix something
Monotoko··on Why Semi-Autonomous, Not Autonomous?
Very strange, I put the title of the article but HN seems to not like the word "fully" and removes it after I click submit...
Monotoko··on OpenAI agrees with Dept. of War to deploy models in their classified network
Anthropic vs OpenAI will probably be The Machine vs Samaritan

(Person Of Interest for those who haven't seen it, watched it a decade ago and it's actually quite surprising how on point it ended up being)

Monotoko··on OpenAI agrees with Dept. of War to deploy models in their classified network
I don't even think Anthropic balked at being used to assist, as long as a human has the final say.
Monotoko··on Framework Laptop 16
Aye that's not a bad plan, to be honest I think my Strix still has a few years left at least but we'll see.
Monotoko··on Framework Laptop 16
I built my ideal laptop... 4TB storage, the 5070, all the mods I would need, and it comes to $4000+ :(

My ASUS ROG Strix cost me $1500 back when the 3080's were new and has a 3080. Have prices risen that much?

Monotoko··on I don't like traveling anymore
I wouldn’t say sour grapes, just that people have a certain budget. Forgoing Business/First i used to be able to afford more days away, maybe an extra city, etc

As I get older I take business class more, because I prefer the comfort over having a few extra days. Ask younger me and he would have taken the extra holiday days

Monotoko··on Multiple Planes Cross Runway While Another Is Taking Off [video]
You could always log onto VATSIM as an observer
Monotoko··on Ask HN: Who is still programming directly on a server?
We've all been there
Monotoko··on Your last name contains invalid characters (2010)
Same in China, the amount of issues I’ve had at banks, airports etcwith 4 names is unbelievable
Monotoko··on Show HN: FrameOS – operating system for single function smart frames
Can you give me an idea of what a png/jpg would look like on one of these? I only see the calendar on the page...
Monotoko··on Reddit Strike Has Started
Sideloadly and a lot of messing about, it doesn't need to be jailbroken though.

While it's still here: https://old.reddit.com/r/jailbreak/comments/145y787/tutorial...

Monotoko··on Reddit Strike Has Started
You can, I've already made a modified version of Apollo and sideloaded it onto my phone with a tweak to set my own key instead of Apollo's

However there is a line on the developers page now that says all apps need to accept terms and sign up for a developers program, so I have my doubts it will continue to work either

Monotoko··on Reddit Strike Has Started
Apps were always willing to pay money for their usage, but not the insane pricing Reddit put in front of them ($12k for 50 million calls)
Monotoko··on Google search was giving errors when searching “how many emojis on iOS”
Seems to be working now, not sure if it's just me or whether it's working for everyone?

Monotoko··on An Account of the Shanghai Lockdown
This was posted a week ago in /r/china and we removed it for the same reason, it was cold in Shanghai yet in that video everyone is in T-shirts and it's cloudless. We reckon it to be from the north by the accents

Can't date it though.

Monotoko··on An Account of the Shanghai Lockdown
Issue is, bribe them for what? They don't really have any means to get food either and if they were to look the other way while you slipped out of the community you'd find every shop closed.

They don't take monetary bribes, but favours, cigarettes etc

Monotoko··on My own phone number is now spam texting me
I almost forgot about this rule, the receiver and the caller both pay for calls.
Monotoko··on Tell HN: Airbnb just stole me 5 minutes of my time adding dices
Chinese captchas can be much worse when you're on domestic websites, to the point where I need to get my wife to solve it for me because I'm not sure which character doesn't have a specific stroke
