Mo3··on Samsung Family Hub for 2025 Update Elevates the Smart Home Ecosystem
Paired with "priority support" and "cheaper" repairs for the much more frequent breakdowns
Mo3··on Texas Attorney General sues Tylenol makers over autism claims
That was the plan to begin with.

Great way to dispense a few billion of taxpayer money in settlements as a favor while everyone's distracted by the story and laughing about how dumb RFK and Trump are.

They're not that dumb. Anything that seems particularly illogical has underlying motives. Look and you'll find more instances of this. Much more.

Mo3··on A quiet change to RSA
That was literally my first thought reading the title too.
Mo3··on One-man campaign ravages EU 'Chat Control' bill
> A website set up by an unknown Dane

Next sentence,

> The website was set up by Joachim, a 30-year-old software engineer living in Aalborg, Denmark

? Is this what journalism has come to? On top of calling this a spam campaign?

Mo3··on Circular Financing: Does Nvidia's $110B Bet Echo the Telecom Bubble?
No, mostly less external compute
Mo3··on Circular Financing: Does Nvidia's $110B Bet Echo the Telecom Bubble?
> I doubt we will see unused GPU capacity

I'd argue we very certainly will. Companies are gobbling up GPUs like there's no tomorrow, assuming demand will remain stable and continue growing indefinitely. Meanwhile LLM fatigue has started to set in, models are getting smaller and smaller and consumer hardware is getting better and better. There's no way this won't end up with a lot of idle GPUs.

Mo3··on Slack has raised our charges by $195k per year
> Yeah they fucked Heroku hard

Surprisingly not as much as I'd thought when they took it over. They just never adjusted pricing to remain competitive. The experience is still some of the best you can get for RoR apps. But nobody in their right mind deploying a new application today would look at their insane 10 year old dyno pricing and be like - yup - reasonable

Mo3··on AI hype is masking recession signals in the market
AI is absolutely NOT filling any kind of SWE roles, especially not mid tier
Mo3··on Decentralized YouTube alternative adds livestream scheduling in new release
Does Peertube not have federation or similar? This will never take off if users have to visit dozens of different instances each specifically for one interest of theirs.
Mo3··on LSD shows promise for reducing anxiety in drugmaker's midstage study
Well, sometimes it's better to not be able to escape as quickly and actually have to accept and deal with it head on. At least for me personally.
Mo3··on Ban me at the IP level if you don't like me
https://github.com/topics/identity-aware-proxy
Mo3··on Ask HN: Are you comfortable uploading sensitive data to ChatGPT or Gemini?
I usually try to anonymize whatever is going on. Personal conversations key details removed or slightly modified, no real person or company names at all, etc

Code I only run through the zero-retention API accounts anyway.

Mo3··on [dead]
> Our Customers Got Happier

They absolutely didn't.

Mo3··on One Dataset. No Warning. Google Took Everything. You're Not Safe Either
I still wonder why they literally don't seem to care in Europe. I've overdrawn billing accounts (by accident) two times, one 10 years ago, one a year ago. Nothing happened until I remembered about them months and months later, I went to check and both times the accounts were just sitting there closed. Checked my email and they sent like two payment reminders in the first 2 weeks and then nothing ever again.. the one 10 years ago is still sitting there.. it's not like they couldn't have sent it to debt collections, that's also a popular thing here lol.
Mo3··on I hacked my washing machine
> As mentioned in one of the opening paragraphs, this washer has a tendency to take longer than it says it will.

I feel like that's true for every washing machine that has ever existed

Mo3··on Launch HN: Morph (YC S23) – Apply AI code edits at 4,500 tokens/sec
Yup, same. My Google API costs were way too high. Sonnet and Opus 4 are much better now so they take care of most of my "easier" tasks. Gemini 2.5 Pro is still somehow better for larger scopes so I have it do all the pre-planning and larger tasks
Mo3··on Jane Street barred from Indian markets as regulator freezes $566M
Given the intraday patterns in the US and other stock markets I doubt this is limited to India
Mo3··on JavaScript broke the web (and called it progress)
So how did JavaScript break the web then?

It didn't. Badly engineered sites suck. Nothing new.

Mo3··on What happens when clergy take psilocybin
These are not normal reactions to being under the influence of psychedelics but latent mental illness being activated.
Mo3··on SSRIs induce cardiac toxicity through dysfunction of mitochondria and sarcomeres
I had to get off my SSRI because I'm apparently prone to prolonged QT interval and the SSRI could cause sudden cardiac arrest. (I am not a fetus)
Mo3··on VPN firm says it didn't know customers had lifetime subscriptions, cancels them
I never got lifetime subscriptions even when it would've made financial sense. What defines a lifetime? Definitely not my lifetime... Offering them is a way to raise quick capital in my mind, it's not an economical benefit to them, it's a company in need of cash. And that possibly implies something about the expected lifetime of the lifetime subscription.
Mo3··on How your mouth could be killing your heart
It's totally possible to do a test and see which bacteria are causing havoc in your mouth, and then target them specifically with antibiotics and such. Granted you'll have to pay good money for it even here in the EU, but I'm considering getting it done too because like you said the other option is completely untargeted mechanical treatment..
Mo3··on Psilocybin reduced depression symptoms as much as leading antidepressant (2021)
Ad aside, what's wrong with that? Ketamine is proving to be extremely effective at treating depression
Mo3··on Amazon Web Services dark patterns (2024)
While I absolutely agree on the topic of hand, Aurora isn't necessarily the best example.. for what it offers it's "relatively" cheap.. and please don't mention Hetzner now, we're talking fully managed extremely reliable, redundant and multi-AZ databases
Mo3··on The Trump Tariffs Just Got Even Worse
It's been about China all along.
Mo3··on AI scrapers from Claude, etc. are incessantly hitting my poor little home server
I absolutely love the AI labyrinth Cloudflare implemented recently. Wasting their time and resources and feeding them more and more garbage. Wonderful.
Mo3··on Do viruses trigger Alzheimer's?
My girlfriend has Crohn's disease that can be directly correlated to food poisoning while on vacation. Now years later I can't even count the times I've read and heard exactly the same story from other people with Crohn's disease. A simple search for "Crohn's food poisoning" turns up hundreds of results. I can't believe this is not being investigated with higher priority
Mo3··on EU confirms Apple can make a portless iPhone without USB-C
And also not if you value your battery life and good charging speeds.
Mo3··on The Burnout Machine
I'm sure many of us have figured this out, it's just that there's no alternative for most.

I live in Europe and we are all unionized and I hate to break it to you but we're still creating much more value than we earn for someone else. Our work conditions may be significantly better - I work 40h/week with unlimited vacation (within reason ofc) and sick days - yet still burnout happens frequently and necessitates costly rehabilitation trajectories.

We deal with the consequences better, and I'm grateful for the conditions here, they may well be much worse elsewhere, but the core issues remain. Humans aren't built to work mentally straining jobs for 8 or more hours per day, and the fruit baskets and vacations only do so much. I believe a four day work week would help some of it.

Mo3··on Stripe adds yet another additional $15 dispute fee, unless you use their AI
Man this sucks, just as I spent months integrating it into the payment pipeline of my side business app. Maybe I just shouldn't accept cards, or only through PayPal or something.
