Mo3··on 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' author Robert Kiyosaki reveals he's $1B in debt
He is in debt, in US dollars, to buy cash flow generating real assets like rental property. He is effectively shorting the US dollar, inflation corrodes the debt value and at the same time boosting the asset value.
Mo3··on 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' author Robert Kiyosaki reveals he's $1B in debt
He's talking about debt to purchase cash flow generating assets, not consumer debt.
Mo3··on Los Angeles police flights cost $3k an hour, audit finds
Having watched a lot of bodycam videos of LAPD officers requesting air backup and it being overhead only minutes later, I think there could be reasonable justification for these expenses. Even if used for other purposes like transportation most of the time, the availability if needed is worth something.
Mo3··on Germans among the unhappiest people in Europe
As a German living in NL: Same level of complaining, just much more attention to socialisation in general. It's more of a we mentality, in Germany you can live next to your neighbors for 10 years without ever having talked to them and the workplace can be a completely impersonal space. In NL everybody knows each other, private matters are shared freely even in the work environment, transparency, group responsibility and team building are highly valued.

Mo3··on Google launched a new AI, and has already admitted at least one demo wasn't real
Now I'm curious which part wasn't real. My best guess would be on the video interpretation
Mo3··on Steve Wozniak suffers minor stroke
You act like we are limiting ourselves to earth on purpose. We're just not there yet.

Mo3··on On the 10th anniversary of the Snowden revelations
Hollywood has been influenced by the Pentagon for a long time.
Mo3··on ChangeDetection, monitor any website change
Kudos, this is a very feature rich solution. I like it. 8.99 seems a little bit much, but I guess it's probably the sweet spot on the curve.
Mo3··on Family rescued from wildfires thanks to iPhone’s Emergency SOS via Satellite
This is just so extremely cool and makes me happy to see within my lifetime.

Btw, which satellites are being used for this functionality?

Mo3··on Remote workers are increasingly less productive, anxious, depressed and lonely
We run a hybrid model at work and it's absolutely wonderful. Go to the office when it feels like to be social and connect with your coworkers, the real work mostly gets done at home. No obligations to show up at certain days or a certain amount of days, just whenever we want.

Different people with different social energy levels and so also different presence intervals, still see each other from time to time. Sprinkle in some nice fun non-obligatory team building activities.. everybody happy and productive.

Mo3··on Deutschlandticket: Germany’s €49 ticket pushes passenger numbers up 25%
That's the typical Deutsche Bahn experience. Haven't seen anything else for the 27 years I lived there
Mo3··on Apple stole $100s from me, Customer Service says there's nothing they can do

Mo3··on Zero Click Facebook Account Takeover and Two-Factor Authentication Bypass
Yeah wtf.. 3k is a disgustingly low amount for such a high-profile vulnerability, if true.
Mo3··on There Has Never Been a Better Time to Be Short
Same here, would've not been the worst advice ever.
Mo3··on US Government demands direct police access to European biometric data [pdf]
I can assure you almost nobody here has any interest in ever visiting the US for prolonged periods of time.

You pay your internet and electricity, no?

Mo3··on Show HN: Software for Remote GPU-over-IP
Damn, this is cool. Nice work.
Mo3··on US annual inflation declines to 7.1% in November vs. 7.3% expected
This is it, the economy is grinding to a halt. Not good either.
Mo3··on EU-wide maximum limit of €10K for cash payments
European here and I can assure you that more and more people of all walks of life are becoming acutely aware and critical of what's happening right now. CBDCs, the WEF, ongoing attempts at financial repression, etc.

Personally I am looking into immigrating into non-EU countries in South East Asia right now, but that has a lot to do with a desire to explore other cultures and a deeper ongoing dissatisfaction and is definitely not on many peoples' minds. I do believe however that there could be civil unrest soon if it gets worse.

Mo3··on Telegram: No-SIM Signup, Auto-Delete All Chats, Topics 2.0 and more
Are you implying Telegram is being run by the Russian government?
Mo3··on Building a Virtual Machine Inside ChatGPT
This whole thread and matter at hand is so extremely trippy I was just waiting for this. Thanks.
Mo3··on Why America’s Railroads Refuse to Give Their Workers Paid Leave
Yeah, no wonder workers are striking. This is absolutely insane and at some point one has to wonder if creating a good working environment and healthy, happy employees would do the profit line even better than this fascist structure.
Mo3··on Ask HN: Why do some people not communicate clearly?
In my case it is simply (unmedicated) ADHD. I can communicate in writing well in most cases, but am not able to communicate clearly in real-time because my mind is running faster and in more directions than I can speak. On medication I am suddenly 100x more eloquent and structured in my communication and can convey even complex problems with relative ease.

It is literally a difference between night and day. Without medication, I stumble over my words, have problems finding words, and it's very hard to not get distracted by 10 concurrent trains of thought. It's a source of great frustration and pain in my life because I do not like being medicated.

Mo3··on Emergency SOS via satellite
Stuff like this is the reason Apple is valued as highly as it is.
Mo3··on Pfizer plans to sell its Covid vaccine at a 10k% markup in 2023
They're going to raise their prices too. Obviously.
Mo3··on FTX Yikes
The service has the fundamental value, not cryptocurrency. That's just collateral
Mo3··on FTX Yikes
> Except backing your payment, it really doesn't.

I think this is the point I was trying to make as well. Obviously this service has value, but not because of cryptocurrency, which was the matter of discussion

Mo3··on FTX Yikes
> Who cares how it's done on the bookkeeping side? I care about my account being lowered by the amount of crypto something has cost me and getting the service / goods I want.

Anybody who understands what cryptocurrency is supposed to be should definitely care about it. There is nothing crypto about these cards, they just liquidate some of your crypto collateral to settle in fiat. You could do this yourself, or use any other random credit card. It's a convenience, but is literally the anti-thesis of cryptocurrency, and/or has nothing to do with cryptocurrency in the first place. The cards are ran by a financial institute or bank and the collateral could be anything.

Sure, the card and its convenience and functionality has value. Cryptocurrency plays zero part in it. Funnily enough, what you see as value here is provided by the fiat system and not by cryptocurrency.
