As a fellow Canadian I think you have a misunderstanding of what’s at stake here. There is potential to lose tens of thousands of jobs by agreeing to the bad deal the american’s proposed.
This is the first comment that showed for me, and it’s pretty useless. I don’t think it’s much better than the kind of comments you’re complaining about.
The race has nothing to do with the stadium, other than running past it. They don’t have to get permission from anyone. Also, there’s no evidence that AI was involved, it could have just as easily been some designer googling for “Allianz Stadium” and illustrating the first thing that came up.
I have some big issues with this technology and the companies behind it, but I know of quite a few people personally who were not previously coders but have now been able to use LLMs to make their own custom software, solving real problems they had.
If you want stuff to be referenced regularly, why are you doing it in the conversation instead of just putting the documents in the directory and referring to them in AGENTS.md or whatever?
This is a very long document that says nothing about chunking at first skim. If chunking is actually wrong, then just explain why, here. Wasting space is not actually a problem if it’s optimized for other purposes instead.
I mean you wanted something objective, and they are. I don’t know why you’re being dismissive of them, they’re a huge element of what drives model development forward.
These companies aren’t just making stuff up, they really do want to improve the models, and the models really are improving.
The idea that progress is “slow” in the AI space is absurd. These are some of the fastest growing products and companies of all time. The models are still improving a surprising amount.
I mean maybe I’m missing the point but it seems like it’s intended to be more of a tool for debugging race conditions, than a runtime you actually ship with. For that purpose I think using an LLM is fine.
Do you think it would be a good thing if all music (for example) was made with AI and not by humans? What a lot of people in tech right now don’t seem to get is that art is about how it transforms the artist, not just the final product.
Oh please, they deserve shaming. This is a great use of social media. Put the facts out there as you see them. No need to sue or have a call to action.
