Marciplan··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (October 2026)
Location: Netherlands Remote: Yes Willing to relocate: No, but happy to work US hours (SF/NYC) Technologies: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Supabase, PostgreSQL, Tailwind, Figma, REST APIs, Claude/Codex/AI tooling Website: https://www.marcia.no Email: hn@marcianoplanque.nl

Hey, I'm Marciano, a design engineer with 7+ years of shipping consumer apps, platforms and internal tools. I take things from first concept to production code myself, so there's no handoff in between.

Recent stuff:

- Localthings.nl: an AI map builder that went viral during last year's Dutch elections

- Preparty.fm: a video platform for getting in the mood before a night out

- joinvit.club: a health app I'm building now (yes, like everyone)

- uitgever.verydisco.press/en: A project to help Dutch journalists be less dependent on Big Tech.

I'm looking for a part-time role (~24h/week) on something meaningful in health, sustainability or community tech.

I'm at my best where design and engineering are one role (which, by now, I think we can all agree they should be). I own features from first sketch to deploy (these days I mostly design in code and keep Figma for early exploration). I work fast, think in systems and care a lot about clarity and usability. If you're building something people should actually use, let's talk :)

Hope they add such models to Code too :)

Marciplan··on How accurate have Ed Zitron's AI skeptic predictions been?
zitron is a jester. He knows his audience and plays it well. It is incredibly tiring to listen to his lies, but so are the AI boosters. I think it is net zero

This resonates. Had this in the start of the year with clients sending me their “research”, which, of course, was just a Deep Research result. Lead me to send this article when I work with folks: https://www.marcia.no/words/etiquette

I like to think it helped, but likely what helped was that nobody seems to use Deep Research anymore, haha.

i like ur posts. have u considered recording audio for them?
Marciplan··on Stripe will reportedly acquire OpenRouter for $7B+
I can totally agree that Apple sucks for doing this, but you seem to insinuate they started this. As always Apple wasn’t first not even tenth: Nintendo, Steam, Xbox, Kindle all did it prior to “the platform economy” 3)

Marciplan··on Were Touch Bar's problems software rather than hardware?
this sounds likely, but they definitely did have real plans with Touch Bar. They thought it was an answer to laptops having a touch screen.
