Sure, but there had better be someone there to respond promptly when it says, "Live Help Online". It is very frustrating to click, wait, timeout and be told to fill in a subject so that the question can be emailed.
I hope cash is never obsolete. Here in Vancouver, Canada there seem to be more retailers hanging out "cash only" signs everyday - independent convenience stores, produce vendors at the public market, restaurants large and small. If I were wealthy I would only use cash, if for no other reason than to negotiate prices on large purchases.
Translation. This is a huge area. I'm working on an app that would benefit from "instantaneous" (unseen live bodies doing the work - NOT software) translation between texting parties. Also I work in a broadcast environment where we send English transcripts from Vancouver to Montreal and have to wait for days to get the French copy back. FYI the cost for that is $1.50 per WORD.
I'm not successful yet, but I haven't caved in either. My family has always been quietly supportive, but my friends have always said things to the effect that, "It'll never work". I'm not interested in proving them wrong, rather I'm interested in proving myself RIGHT.
I am also surprised by this. When was the last time that POS advertising made you change your brand of any grocery item that you normally purchase or made you try a new product?
Once a cheque is approved and all appropriate accounts involved have been credited, the cheque is stamped with some kind of cancellation mark, such as a "paid" stamp. The cheque is now a cancelled cheque. Cancelled cheques are placed in the account holder's file. The account holder can request a copy of a cancelled cheque as proof of a payment. This is known as the cheque clearing cycle.
I'm s-l-o-w-l-y creating a web and mobile app for finding "agents" to supply news or information based on geo-location.
In terms of readers I would love to see a map based news reader that would give me geo-specific stories at an international/national/regional/local/hyperlocal level depending on how far I zoom in.
I lived in the Middle East for years. One learns frustration tolerance (patience) there by design. There are generally no queues for anything in the ME - not for the post office, or to pay the electricity bill, or much of anything else. It's bad enough having to wait when you are in a queue, but what if there isn't one? Find the longest queue you can and get in it (even if you are not attending or buying whatever is at its end). Stay there until you either get to the end, or have to leave. Repeat this whenever you can.
You didn't mention exercise but I have found over the course of 33 years of regular physical activity that "lashing out in anger" is a lot harder to contemplate when the body is physically used.
Good Luck.
I'd say you are like a friend of mine who has killed numerous Macbooks, since v1.0. He always uses his machine to the maximum - number of applications, jammed hard drive, lots of media content, used in a mobile state 16+ hours a day, etc. He's had numerous issues with them because he uses them heavily and they are a lightweight machine. And every year or so, when the latest one is in its death throws, he buys a new Macbook, but never the Macbook Pro - the extra robustness of which, might just save him a lot of grief. If you do nothing else, make sure everything is backed up, then nuke and pave it. Good Luck!
As the costs for creating a new product or service continue to be driven down, is there not an opportunity here for a new category of angel investors to meet the needs of startups that need ie., < 100K?
I'm not interested in this question per se, however I am interested in vending machine design. It is only recently that some vending machines are able to take my money AND dispense my purchase (soda pop) fairly near waist level (3-4ft from the ground). However, the change dispenser of this machine is still less that 12" from the ground meaning serious bending over or kneeling to obtain the change. Why cannot change be dispensed at the same height as money in and product out - especially if there is a separate dispenser for it?
Actually, my employer petitioned for a different visa for me, and 4 months later I was happily ensconced in LV. I've worked in many countries and bureaucracy is the same everywhere - bureaucratic.
"I honestly don't know if the border patrol even checks all of this stuff."
In my experience they do. I'm a Canuck who was working in Dubai, got a job in Vegas, applied for and received a TN Visa from the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi (which was a cool document bonded onto one of my passport pages). I transitted through the Vancouver airport on my way to LV. There, US Customs took one look at my TN-1, drew a line through it, noted "Cancelled without Prejudice" and denied me entry to the US to work. When I asked why the response I received was, and I quote, "Abu Dhabi don't know shit".
Steven if you search HN you will probably find a link to a standard NDA. However, almost anyone on this site will tell you that most Angels or VCs do not sign NDAs. If you are a Canadian I can send you one I have on file.
I don't like to see such colloquialisms in job postings, but as someone who has done a fair amount of hiring in my career, I also don't want to see them on resumes or CVs unless you've worked for Rockstar Games or real Rockstars.
