Mankhool··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking Freelancer? (February 2020)
SEEKING FREELANCER | Vancouver, BC | Remote OK (must be in BC)

Looking for a mobile app dev to build a photo/video sharing app on both platforms.

This will be the second app I've created with Freelancers from HN. This is the only place I ever look for talent.

Mankhool··on Toys ‘R’ Us Didn’t Have to Die
Here in Vancouver, BC, it IS. The property values are SO high and continue to go up every year, that retail income is almost irrelevant to the owners. They are just waiting for a developer to buy the property so they can cash out.
Mankhool··on Zuckerberg on Cambridge Analytica situation
>“We also made mistakes, there’s more to do, and we need to step up and do it,”

I, for one, am tired of hearing tech companies say that they are sorry - believing that this makes whatever the issue is, immediately a thing of the past so that they can start again from day zero with regard to whatever they failed at.

A company the size of FB must police the usage of their data if they want to be able to promise security of it. That this wasn't being done is a mistake of unforgivable magnitude.

Mankhool··on [dead]
There are all kinds of jurisdictions that will never allow this.
Mankhool··on Lottery winner asking a judge to let her keep the cash and remain anonymous
Both her, and Shane Missler, who won the Mega Millions in January should just disappear. I think her problem is that she wants her life to remain largely the same. Well it can't and it won't. But a few hundred million dollars gives you plenty of opportunities to start over, at any age, and take care of your inner circle from wherever in the world you want to live.
Mankhool··on Remoteindex.io – Simple aggregator of remote jobs
Is/will this be searchable?
Mankhool··on Ask HN: What website, from your early days on the net, do you miss?

Mankhool··on Cape Town Is 90 Days Away from Running Out of Water
An earlier article in The Guardian, that I cannot find atm said that only 54% of residents were meeting their water rationing quota (!)
Mankhool··on Ask HN: Can I ask for more severance pay?

Of those, nine million have zero cash income

If the Supreme Court can do this, then perhaps it could bring the Second Amendment law into the modern era.

I've always tried to live close to where I work, or to find a job close to where I want to live.
Mankhool··on iphone6 on iOS11
I'm not seeing the battery issue, but my iP6 is S-L-O-W. and I'm only using 10% of my 64GB of storage. I regret doing the upgrade.

Mankhool··on $782k over asking for a house in Sunnyvale
Please come to Vancouver, BC. We have bidding wars on houses and many have sold WAY over the asking price. Here's a fine example: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/vancouver-tea...

Mankhool··on Why Can’t Americans Get a Raise?
Not just America. In Canada too salaries have been flat forever. I work at one of our big three telcos and we were told last year that nobody is getting a raise for at least the next 3 years. Like, none of my costs of living are going to go up in the next three years either?
