The steaks have to be at room temperature. Pat them dry first. Put them on a plate. Sprinkle with salt. Get a clove of garlic ready in a press. Keep the butter nearby. Use a frying pan on Medium High to High heat that has been oiled (Grapeseed Oil or other oil that is safe at high heat). When it gets hot put in some butter, stir that around and then put in the steaks. Cook them on both sides for a couple of minutes. You can turn them more than once if you want. While they are cooking squeeze in the garlic and add more butter if you want/need it. Brown the edges if you want only just before you are ready to take them out of the pan. THEN put them on a plate or cutting board and let them stand for a few minutes (while you plate up whatever else you cooked with them). They're ready!
Hence the dynamics of a family run businesses. In my experience they are ALL dysfunctional. You are in a no-win scenario precisely because it has been 3 months. You should stop the AAB portions of the job immediately and state your IT workload as the reason.
The best advice I can offer you is this: No matter where you go in your travels always observe and listen before ever opening your mouth. Wherever you are you will be new there and will not know the customs, mores, or etiquette.
You're not becoming more stupid - Hollywood IS. In their quest for more return at the box office they make dumber movies that appeal to a large share of their target market (which is anyone with eyeballs - *thanks to Argo for that great line). Audiences, in turn, think that they are seeing really great films as the bar becomes lower with each passing year. In the end it is a complete circle and audiences end up getting the quality of films that they deserve because Hollywood told them so.
At my corp of 40,000 souls we are, year by year, diminishing the number of full time resident workers in favour of mobile workers and home based workers, all as a way to cut costs, save office space and increase the bottom line.
Thank you for creating a humane solution. I know of a couple that used a shock collar on their dog. It didn't stop him from barking. So they locked him into a room of their house when they went out - and when they came back the dog had shredded, chewed, gnawed, clawed everything in the room. I'm sending them this link!
I have zero intention of putting my tax information into the cloud with UFile, Simpletax or any other vendor. If I cannot keep my data locally, then I am not interested.
What about benefits? My current employer values benefits at 22% of one's gross salary. I'm a contractor so they figure if I am going to be an employee that I should work for X - 22% + a non-guaranteed performance bonus of 7-15%.
It is a lot easier to be finished than it is to be satisfied. You can tweak your work, no matter what you do or create, forever. At some point you have to say, "It's Finished".
I'm only my first SP - iPhone 4 - and the only reason I keep it is so I can stream music from SiriusXM. If a lesser device would do this, then I would dump it in a second.
If I can extend your love of film to mean non-celluloid, digital content DELIVERY of movies and TV programs then consider video encoding / streaming media as a career. I work for a major Canadian Telecommunications firm and we have ONE encoding genius and we have been trying to find another person with his skills - and there are NONE in Canada that are looking for work. You may want to check out http://www.streamingmedia.com You can pretty much name your price in this field and you will never be out of work unless you want to be.
I find the OP's idea and post really interesting and this discussion enlightening. It has made me re-think the notion of angel investing as this is very grass-roots (one developer, one idea, one partner/investor). However, as a non-coder (not since 1984) whenever I have tried to find a technical co-founder I always hear the argument that coders have tons of their own ideas so why would they build mine - especially for 5-8K. The OP is calling out the coders WITH ideas - it would be interesting to see how many really have undeveloped ideas vs. how many do not.
