Lyle-Cantor··on How Anne Wojcicki’s 23andMe Will Mine Its Giant DNA Database
No one should be surprised, their database is extremely valuable. They have a labeled database of millions of genomes. Once they sequence them all, then they just need to buy Luminosity (which is basically a site full of IQ tests) and find their common customers. If they have a millions common customers, then they can build a predictive model for IQ. Repeat with any other trait you want to predict. Hell, buy a video game company and embed behavioural tests within it.

Sell it for use in embryo selection, employee profiling, to governments.

God forbid if people were allowed to make their own choices.
Lyle-Cantor··on Average IQ scores seem to have been falling and population ageing may be why
We will soon have the selection power to select for many traits simultaneously. Also, much of the problem super high IQ people have is the result of being surrounded by people much less capable than themselves. If we seize the high-IQ alleles and distribute them to the proletariat this would not be an issue.

People confuse the normative and the descriptive. Everything you say is basicly correct. But it's horrible so it can't possibly be true. But why should evolution not be horrible?

Evolution does not care about our ideology. If we don't account for it and nerf its edge, though forms of selection that don't cause suffering to conscious creatures, like embryo selection or genetic engineering, then we will have to wait for Malthus to provide sufficient selection pressure to ensue our survival or extinction. This fingers-in-ears approach to biological reality would be concerning if countries like Korea and China weren't poised to exploit embryo selection and genetic modification for increased health and IQ, thus likely forcing more reactionary countries like us in the west to adopt them, too.

Lyle-Cantor··on If Mark Zuckerberg runs for president, will Facebook help him win?
I don't know. Asian nations like Singapore and Japan have done very well with highly-technical public servants, mathematicians and physicists are often in government in Singapore. Anything that gets technical people into office is good in my books. Zuck is a great leader, smart at the level that politicians were in the past and have not been for generations. He could be extremely good. He could be awful. But he is at least an extremely impressive human being, which is more than can be said for recent presidents.

If he didn't own Facebook and was just a guy, I would take him over Sanders and Trump any day. But FaceBook is a scary thing to own, scarier still if you a president.

As a side note, Zuck's admiration for Caesar is a little more disconcerting in the context of politics than business, especially since he operates the most effective surveillance infrastructure ever constructed.

Lyle-Cantor··on Two-thirds of Americans approve of editing human DNA to treat disease
China has orthogonal moral hysterias. Again, someone will do it and they will have an enormous advantage, 8 IQ points per generation at worst and 60+ at best. Considering the effect on the tails of the distribution, the vast majority of scientific productivity will be from edited or selected individuals.

IQ enhancement is almost the only thing that matters in the genetic engineering story. If we don't allow it, somewhere else will; and it is they who will control future technological progress. Strength matters little in comparison.
