Of course it is relative but I would still assume a switch in aviation is easier to replace than a touchscreen.
This has been my pet peeve as well. I do use Gmaps to show me the route and then I ride it on my bike without looking at the phone but if it is a route that I don't know yet I would like which street to turn at, all the while Gmaps refusing to be a map and telling me what the name of the street is.
Gmaps seems to be less of a map, more of a directory of locations and instructions how to get to those, so the actual streets on which the locations are is not interesting to GMaps at all and it doesn't put any effort into that usecase.
This whole thing seems to be a breeding ground for submarine patents, where in the end nobody has an actual applicable patent to show but the thread of pulling one out of the hat is there to make things worse.
But yes, I think your concern is more about that you wouldn't enjoy living in a city to begin with. Which is fair enough, most of these things you enjoy aren't great if you don't have a workshop and/or plenty of space (though I have to note that amount of pottery workshops in my city is quite high which is nice because it makes it more accessible to people who can't own all the equipment).
I enjoy biking, public transport and the density to support a nice shopping/bar/party street within walking distance, but what do I know, living in the second most livable city.
USB-C is the first time cables have the same connector on both sides, so it obsoletes USB-A and USB-B. But what is sent over USB-C? Can be USB 3 with which it is often conflated because they came around the same time, but it can also be USB 2, so it is a bit hard to tell. But USB 3 can use old style USB-A as well (the blue plugs with the same shape as the classic USB plugs) and USB-C (the microUSB plugs with an extension off to the side).
Yes. I get paid on my account like everybody else in this country and then I can immediately use it at any merchant in the country by using a credit card. No need to run to ATMs (where are they even and if it is not my banks I get charged extra), no need to figure out change etc.
I don't even carry a wallet anymore because I can just pay with my phone, so no need for a physical card.
I think this video[0] is a great introduction why people who don't take their laptops around enjoy using tiny keyboards.
There is a way to design a more "fun" experience but just slapping the biggest tropes on like your users are 5 year olds is probably not it.
I had fun reading it but I feel it is a bad business move to attack your user base, and I assume that they have more users around the 18yo of the spectrum than 75.
Would he also make fun of a boomer mode, with large buttons everywhere and "get me out of the app and just call person" feature?
So yes, it is bad but that's how globalized capitalism works.
Some of the most livable cities in the world have good public transport and low rates of car ownership (a fact that seems more and more correlated to said livability) and are good places to raise families.
And yes, there's plenty of these on the streets, not only owned by rich people.
