La-ang··on How the North Korean hackers (WannaCry) got away with a stunning crypto-heist

La-ang··on Grindr and OkCupid Spread Personal Details, Study Says
I was hacked 3 times on okc. Thankfully, all the info there I put was fake, I somehow sensed their security is wack judging from the user interface and the constant app crashes and bugs. There are also multiple reports of users who got hacked. I remember on one occasion my phone number was on a conversation and was picked up by hackers to text me in person pausing under some "Jessica".
La-ang··on $100k/year still might not be enough to buy a home
This definitely applies to nyc xD
La-ang··on Apple Removes HKmap.live from the App Store
I am guessing if iOs is still prone to jailbreaks Apple can blacklist all they can. Is Appcake still around?
La-ang··on GE freezes pension benefits for 20k employees
Lol. I remember Chomsky saying GE is not about manufacturing much as it ought to be, but rather about moving money in very complicated ways.Who foresees its collapse in the next 5 years?

La-ang··on Survivors of rare wolf attack recount how animal tried to drag man from tent
[You should expect to be attacked by a whale because you happen to be in the ocean.] Indeed. You just confirmed what I said. And do you have a peace treaty with wildlife that you should be at peace when in their territory? Quit being a snowflake.
La-ang··on The Coffin Makers of Kabul
2017, yet still relevant seeing the stagnating state of security in Afghanistan.
La-ang··on Survivors of rare wolf attack recount how animal tried to drag man from tent
You're in wolf territory, so what do you expect?
La-ang··on A Walk in Hong Kong
Amazing writing style. I felt walking Hong Kong and every emotion that ought to be felt there. [Trains are now running every seven minutes, instead of very two, and MTR regrets the inconvenience.] Ah the New York Subway :/
La-ang··on The electric car as a talisman of false hope
Too little too late? That's the best the writer could say? Pessimism is not what we yearn for.
La-ang··on Hong Kong student leaders and their families face anonymous threats
No one thought of reaching out to Facebook to see who this Lee is? Oh wait, Facebook can't be reached XD, and please see FAQ related to death threats lol
La-ang··on Watch Out Google, YouTubers Are Unionizing
Can youtubers go on strike and take the content down for a limited time? If such an option is available and they do it, it would be a relevant strike. But since those who are joining the Union are the one demonetized provides that Youtube isn't making as much profit from their presence as those who are still running ads. In such case, the former ones will need a way to engage those who make profit align with their doctrine, so the strike can be a blow to youtube. Bottom line to me; Not Gonna Happen (NGH).
La-ang··on Translating and Interpreting Chinese Philosophy
It also becomes a hurdle to read the footnotes. I often times got sucked in them and forget even how to come back to the original text, let alone the original idea I was reading.
La-ang··on Translating and Interpreting Chinese Philosophy
Yes indeed, although I assume that since Mandarin is more accessible for learners, it can serve as a 101 to classical. Quote: [None of what has been said up to this point is to suggest that studying Chinese language and early thought is only for the classically curious and linguistically intrepid].
La-ang··on Translating and Interpreting Chinese Philosophy
My synopsis: The only way to understand text is to learn the original language. When I compared Arabic text with translated versions for example, although done by supposedly professionals, I couldn't help but sense awkward misalignments in context. Perhaps the interpretation (understanding) of both reader and writer differ, and so does the translation. The transcending misunderstanding can not be rectified unless a glance is made at the original. I know learning another language just to read a book is indeed way too much, but it is worth it, for you will not be reading one book eventually, and learning a language like Mandarin in this instance is an exciting experience. Examples of books I've read in original language and translation include Political Ideals by B. Russell, 100 years of solitude By G. Marquez, Spirits Rebellious By Khalil Gibran. I am also learning Mandarin, but rest assured, I still need another 5 years to be able to read and write decently.
La-ang··on Facial recognition software mistook 1 in 5 California lawmakers for criminals

La-ang··on Chinese military entering Shenzen, just across the border with Hong Kong

La-ang··on Has this scientist finally found the fountain of youth?
I'd say it's more of a clickbait.
La-ang··on Arabic Mathematics: Forgotten Brilliance? (1999)
I'm pretty sure 99% of the comments are from Arabs/Persians/Berbers backlashing one another over who is who. can you stop arguing and move on to the next article please xD
La-ang··on Death Note: L, Anonymity and Eluding Entropy (2017)
Light's mistakes are part of the plot, not an error in it. He eventually loses as the Shinigami predicts that he will be the one writing his name on his Death Note. L also sacrifices himself knowing that he should close down on Kira and Near eventually puts an end to it. Yet my issue was with Light killing using the bag of chips with the TV inside, what kinda TV could fit there and render visible information with low light in a dark surveilled room?
La-ang··on The Origin of Most Coal on Earth (2016)
Imagine having Trichonympha as pets? Of course you cant see them, but if you set up the video camera right with the proper lens and display the view on a 16 inch screen in the living room :D Wait, that's a great idea!

La-ang··on Hong Kong protesters occupy airport amid fears of escalating violence
I do not speak for Bloomberg, solely the article. And maybe you're right, but I'm more of a brute force attack individual, although I love Nmap..
La-ang··on Hong Kong protesters occupy airport amid fears of escalating violence
You're only argumenting your own ideas here. What mass exposure are you talking about and eyeballs? I posted an update on a subject of the hour. Also, the main article I posted was derived from Bloomberg, and Bloomberg has no political agenda in Chinese affairs. Secondly, I have no political agenda in posting about the state of Hong Kong's affairs. You should be mindful of your words and claims that have no substantial grounds. My reposting was not a political push but a trigger to see why the flagging is not stopping. Dang has explained it already and I completely get his point, and agree to stop posting on it. You on the other hand, should refrain from emotionally arguing your points.

Regards,

Understood. I see your point and will not post on the topic again until something worth the intellectual curiosity arises.
