KptMarchewa··on JetBrains reported a net financial loss first time in its tracked history
It is a good code viewer but way too heavy if you want to switch between branches often on a sufficiently large product.
KptMarchewa··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
I actually attended high school in that way in Poland, despite it being very rare here. I was 15 when I started. While I think it was great for me, I would not recommend doing it for younger people - you need some basic emotional maturity and safety.

Even then, it would not solve any problems here, really.

KptMarchewa··on How Singapore's government-run dating service works
That still works up to like age 7. It really is needed for that age up to ~18, which means you can get with providing that service for ~15 years (multiple children) and then going back to smaller apartments.
KptMarchewa··on California farmers are struggling to sell grapes as demand for wine drops
>I still see construction workers drinking a can at 6:30pm however.

You mean AM, right?

KptMarchewa··on The senior engineer death spiral
It is still good advice at early to mid stages of career. You can get into senior level much faster, and potentially learn much more, since you're less pigeonholed into current role, and you see more of how other organizations work.
KptMarchewa··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
God no. This has pretty much all of the slop elements save for jizz drops. Paint brush strokes, icon -> caption -> text, ai divisors... pretty much zero effort, compared to OP's posters.
KptMarchewa··on Blizzard Revives 'StarCraft' Franchise with Open-World Sci-Fi Shooter
I'm okay with them generating some popularity with the franchise. That would benefit any potential RTS later.

2030 though... isn't that like 8 years away?

KptMarchewa··on Temporal raises $550M at a $12.55B valuation
The fintech (now bank) that I worked in couple of years ago utilized this pattern pretty effectively.

The overhead of doing something in this way is quite large, but, as this handled literal money, it was definitely worth it.

KptMarchewa··on What do Visa and Mastercard do? An intro to card networks
> You go to your bank website and obtain a random number, either allowing a single transaction or a recurring transaction. You give the merchant the number. After merchant charges it, no other merchant can charge the same number.

That's basically how Blik works in Poland. With the exception being that the number is random 6 digits randomly generated when you open the app, that is active for ~2 minutes. So you don't deal with the issue of very long and error prone numbers to copy.

Much better way to pay online.

Chat Jippity.
KptMarchewa··on Getting your hands dirty is good for you
That interpretation does make sense. Just heating the sauna can take even longer.
KptMarchewa··on Why getting your hands dirty is good for you
>I don't think anyone is capable to sit in a 90-100C sauna for a whole hour without breaks, otherwise with breaks I surely have been in a sauna for more than an hour.

Yes, I definitely do agree with that. I too love what you're describing - we have some of that in Poland too :)

However, I was not sure if we're talking about it - or some American version I know only from various memes - where people are coming in with phones and in shoes.

KptMarchewa··on Getting your hands dirty is good for you
Do you mean you literally sit in the sauna for hour?
KptMarchewa··on Asahi Linux on M3
It's already established that no one cares. Laundering through AI is okay.
KptMarchewa··on GPT-6 Astra on OpenRouter
the only thing that matters is cost per task. Astra seems to be massively efficient.
KptMarchewa··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
I negated the cloudflare outage, providing source. Are you cloudflare so that you might be so affected by my statement?
KptMarchewa··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Not really. The impact isn't as big too - Codex for example did not stop working for me.

KptMarchewa··on Mark Cuban: Why US hospitals "don't know their costs"
The machines cost the same in Poland and yet the personnel costs are still over 80% of the expenses.
KptMarchewa··on Muse Spark 1.3
Neither flash or regular glm 5.3 are close in my experience. I still prefer Sol though.
KptMarchewa··on Syria, eyeing role as Middle East hub, offers options to bypass Hormuz
Good for them.
KptMarchewa··on Muse Spark 1.3
I would imagine your interactions with it are more important than the output.

I am 100% convinced Zuck is maybe better at masking now, but is exactly the same lizard who wrote

KptMarchewa··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
I've told ai to distill Google's developer documentation style guide and IMO it works much better.

KptMarchewa··on Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash
IDK why you'd believe they have a shoestring budget.
KptMarchewa··on Meta reaches $17B settlement over social media harms to children
Banning phones from schools only is not enough.
KptMarchewa··on GLM-5.3-Flash
I agree. They are definitely good - no issues with instruction following for example - but they miss the "intelligence" larger models have.

For implementation tasks, where I have the problem already defined and researched, or just simple task, I'd definitely use something like Luna xhigh or max. If the task is vague, or involves planning, I'd rather use Sol medium, even though it's theoretically worse on benchmarks.

KptMarchewa··on GLM-5.3-Flash
It can bear the load of a few people, at least.
KptMarchewa··on Why some US restaurants are banning tips
A lot of pessimism is caused by the relative change of inequality.
KptMarchewa··on Anti-AI fonts are useless and harmful
There is no realistic possibility to effectively ban LLMs worldwide, which makes advocating for this useless.
