KekDemaga··on GM Apples That Don’t Brown to Reach U.S. Shelves This Fall
The same way you determine anything is bad, the smell of bacteria farts.
KekDemaga··on A Robot Makes a Mean Caesar Salad, but Will It Cost Jobs?
That number is probably less than 1%, those stories about chefs being so inspired by ingredients and just wanting to share that vision with the world are written by marketers.
KekDemaga··on Hands-On with the $159 Google Pixel Buds
By what mechanism does Apples headphones translate speech?
KekDemaga··on Dear Silicon Valley: America’s fallen out of love with you
>For example, a 1-standard-deviation increase in “likes clicked” (clicking “like” on someone else's content), “links clicked” (clicking a link to another site or article), or “status updates” (updating one's own Facebook status) was associated with a decrease of 5%–8% of a standard deviation in self-reported mental health.

>Facebook is toxic.

Or alternatively mentally ill people like Facebook.

KekDemaga··on EPA photos show what US looked like before pollution regulation
>I wanted to leave the US during the Bush administration. It’s not easy to do. I would have to gain work in a foreign land in which I possessed valued trade skills, adapt to cultural changes, and build a new network in place of existing ties both socially and professionally. I might have give up my pets, acquire new furniture and amenities, and restart my career from a lower tier. I might have to consider regions with harsher climates than I would prefer. I might not be able to relocate with my spouse if she doesn’t want to, or can’t, do the same.

Isn't the alternative a totalitarian banana republic in your view? Shouldn't these be minor inconveniences in comparison? Syrian refugees have similar concerns when they choose to leave after all, yet they seem to wish to leave and the American left chooses to stay. What is different if not the conditions of the country?

>States have infant mortality rates on par with Thailand, Romania and Fiji

The reason for this is we are more liberal in what we define as an infant as compared to a fetus.

KekDemaga··on Lost Laughs in Leisure Suit Larry
Eddie Murphy was considered offensive back then as well the only thing that changed is a different group of people are offended for different reasons. That's why its art.
KekDemaga··on After the check is gone: The underground economy of rural America
I considered myself poor up until a couple years ago. The biggest kick in the balls each year was the vehicle inspection. If you live in a place without public transit you can't just go without a car. So I would be paying thousands of dollars to replace sensors that did little to improve the actually functionality of the car all in the name of getting rid of that check engine light. Most of the time I couldn't afford it and it was cheaper to just get a fine from time to time.
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
In this very thread I was accused of asking one of these "bigoted questions". I hold no hatred towards any race of people nor am I a big fan of the GOP. I am certainly not a operative of the GOP attempting to swing votes for them. So I just don't understand how this is remotely related to be honest. Quite frankly this all seems like an attempt to limit speech by a political ideology that seems to crumble when debated.
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
Lenin believed “The goal of Socialism is Communism.”, thus all socialists are really communists in disguise is some equally flawed logic from the other side of the aisle. Just because one person on a side of a political spectrum was horrible doesn't mean you get to throw all of those ideas out with the bathwater.
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
I think that is a characterization that you have likely often heard repeated in the media and thus I can't fault you for but statistically speaking white native born Americans make up the majority of food stamp (and most other similar programs are the same) recipients. I take issue with these programs personally because I believe they do more to suppress wages then they do to increase quality of life for people. Perhaps some misguided racists would make claims like you have asserted but frankly those claims don't even make any sense and thus in my opinion can be dismissed.
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
Why do you assume that comment is about African Americans?
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
I appreciate the answer despite the down votes you have received. It seems we are talking about questions that have a false premise as welfare programs do not eliminate a fathers requirement to pay child support if I am understanding you correctly. That seems to have less to do with bigotry specifically and more to do with a poor understanding of a situation.
KekDemaga··on The Supreme Court discussed my research on gerrymandering: some misconceptions
> This is tricky because there are lots of people who "ask questions" just to avoid admitting that they are a bigot.

I am confused on how this would work in practice. What kinds of questions do you propose these bigoted people are asking?

KekDemaga··on AWS does not protect you from devops
>How would running a single MySQL service require a full time dba?

"Enterprise". I've seen guys who manage a single SQL server with 300 users or a share point install of a similar size "full time".

KekDemaga··on Replacing Social Security Numbers Is Harder Than You Think
If I was a bank opposed to this plan here is how I would kill it. I'd say (well, I'd pay people with bullhorns and signs to say) the new requirements for 'wrongly reported debt' require banks to have greater ID requirements, greater ID requirements have been linked to less minority representation thus that plan is a racist plot.

It would be dead in the water before you could draft the bill.

KekDemaga··on Why We’ll Have Evidence of Aliens–If They Exist–By 2035
We are on the cusp I agree but those techniques haven't been found in end user products yet. I think the future of automation will look a lot less mechanical and a lot more biological.
KekDemaga··on Lessons from France's first cyber-attack, nearly two centuries ago
They were attacking the market in a sense as it relied on latency of information to determine prices. Certainly I'd dub these gentlemen posthumously as hackers, maybe they were the first.
KekDemaga··on Why We’ll Have Evidence of Aliens–If They Exist–By 2035
I argue humanity has never left the stone age, when you think about it we are still digging things out of the ground and banging them together. Once we have consumers using biological machines (beyond yeast and horses but things we have written the genetic code for) or manipulating matter at the atomic level then we will have truly passed into a new age.

How is anyone sure of the results of a clinical trial, and how would proximity increase the level of certainty? In regards to world politics when could you ever be certain a report is accurate? Didn't you always have to use critical thinking?

> I live in Sweden. How do I fact check what happens in a neighborhood in the USA?

I question the utility of you having any opinion on US politics, especially at the local level. You are certainly entitled to one but I don't know what it gets you without a vote.

KekDemaga··on Strategies for offline PGP key storage

KekDemaga··on China Forces Norway to Adhere to ‘One China’ Policy
I don't have the information required to tell you specifically what would happen, but I will note the media was very friendly with the Obama administration. Those media organizations are held by parent companies that also often own weapons manufacturers. Obama was a man who was very concerned with his legacy and thus by the transitive property media portrayals of himself. Is it possible that he traded the lives of innocents for his personal vanity? Maybe, but the truth is we will probably never know why he did what he did. The only thing that I can say for certain is he didn't deserve any award with peace in the title.
KekDemaga··on China Forces Norway to Adhere to ‘One China’ Policy
>The President doesn't have as much power as we may believe.

With these "wars" in particular he actually does have a great deal of power. They aren't actually wars but "military actions" for the most part. The commander in chief can unilaterally order the armed forced to withdraw if he so wished. Instead Obama ordered drone strike after drone strike, bombing after bombing (so many in fact that there was serious concerns that we would run out of bombs[0]). His merits as a president can be debated, his merits as a peace prize winner cannot. He simply did very little to promote peace and much to prevent it (see Syria).

KekDemaga··on The jailing of Hong Kong’s young pro-democracy leaders
As a US citizen, if the Chinese people are happy with their government (or at least not unhappy enough to revolt) then the Chinese people should have that government. If the Chinese people are unhappy with their government, then they should revolt and if sufficient momentum is built up in that regard, and we are asked, only then should we consider "helping" anyone. I'd hope the Chinese would treat our sovereignty with the same respect.
KekDemaga··on What Makes Singapore’s Health Care So Cheap?

KekDemaga··on Senator to Ex-CEO: Equifax Can't Be Trusted with Americans' Personal Data
My design would be a ZeroMQ message bus between the database server and the application server. Social Security numbers shouldn't need to be displayed to the user (as they should already know it) thus all the message bus should be carrying is "it matches" or "it doesn't match" in regards to them.
KekDemaga··on China Forces Norway to Adhere to ‘One China’ Policy
Ignorance is why you are being down voted, the man spent his entire time in office at war if that is deserving of a peace prize I'm not sure what you'd have to do to not deserve one.
KekDemaga··on Best CPUs for Workstations: 2017
It depends on the workload but for most cases those extra cores will just sit idle (that Intel is for things like webservers serving many concurrent requests), for most general workstation tasks you'll get better performance from the AMD offering. It's sort of like buying a half million dollar tractor trailer to go fast instead of a hundred thousand dollar sports car.
