Pretty excellent alignment, for once?
“…comes as-is, without warranties and without any commitment for future work. Complaints will get your feature request deprioritised, may get you banned, and will look silly to any potential employer googling your name”.
Also, let’s make it a meme to call out unreasonable behaviour: stop Jigar-Kumaring!

That’s just the tip of the iceberg and only wrt the environment. EU and NAFTA are also international agreements that have teeth, as is the Berne convention on copyright (even if you don’t like it). Unicode is the UN in action as is the boat that will pick you up if you happen to get stranded on a deserted island (and have the necessary, and standardized, beacon). If you’re a Mongolian in a Mexican jail or a Mexican in a Mongolian jail, your embassy will be informed and allowed to render legal support, thanks to an international agreement to that effect. If you’re being subjected to cluster munitions, your foe is one of the few people on earth that wouldn’t enjoy a trip to the Netherlands. If you find yourself being extradited to The Hague, the plane you’re traveling on will conform to internationally agreed safety standards. A kilogram, meter, second, or joule is the same as your trading partners‘, thanks ISO, and the T in NATO seems to be some mighty piece of paper, considering how it manages to scare the shirtless man shitless.
As long as there are any ads, the incentives stay the same. You're saying an internet completely free of monetary incentives would be better. I doubt that's true but it really doesn't matter, because it won't be happening.
I mean… I can see HN arguing how it’s a great free speech endeavor to turn a Holocaust victim into a „fun“ adventure game, and how doing so says absolutely nothing about the creator.
But here we have pretty good evidence that it DOES say something about the creator.
And then you can’t think of reasons for the downvotes?
I see a pattern, maybe?
Do you want to use OSS software? Great, go ahead! The license isn't going to get in your way, it's essentially free-as-in-beer for you.
Do you want to make changes to the software and redistribute it? You may need to do so under the original license (for GPL and similar).
