JeroenRansijn··on Gridsome – A Vue.js static site generator
Airtable instead of AirTable.
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: CS papers for software architecture and design?
Write code that is easy to participate in.
JeroenRansijn··on ReSwift 1.0.0: Unidirectional Data Flow in Swift
Really awesome framework! Have been using it for my latest project and is especially great if you have done some Redux for the web.
JeroenRansijn··on NW.js
I designed the node-webkit icon some time ago. However, it would be a good idea to revise it, maybe create a flat version, which it started out to be. The icon is in fact a combination of the webkit icon (a.k.a pre-yosemite safari app icon) and node.js shape with the colors of intel. On my dribbble you can see the evolution of the icon: https://dribbble.com/Jeroen_Ransijn.

Sadly, I my harddrive crashes completely a while back and all files on my side have been lost. However, Roger Wang still has a PSD, and I e-mailed him if he could send it to me again. He said he still had it and would e-mail it back, but he probably forgot. I'll contact him again. So I can at least properly export the icon, and make it available as a download.

Any suggestions or feedback is always appreciated!

JeroenRansijn··on The Humane Representation of Thought [video]
I thought about Robbert Dijkgraaf's TV lectures as well. A must see! I have no idea if there are any english subs though.
JeroenRansijn··on CmdrTaco's Trove
My thoughts exactly. Seems a lot like Flipboard.
JeroenRansijn··on How Typography Affects Readers
I don't agree with a lot of the explanations/guidelines this article gives.

An actually good article about guidelines for Typography: [The 100% Easy-2-Read Standard](http://ia.net/blog/100e2r/)

JeroenRansijn··on Show HN: I am sick and tired of all this crypto coin crap.
Wether or not I agree with this is of no importance. However I do think something like a filter (similar to Email.app search tags) would be a nice feature for HN.
JeroenRansijn··on [dead]
The question is wether this post will start a flame war in the comments.
JeroenRansijn··on Media for Thinking the Unthinkable
Same here! His thinking had a huge impact on my thinking.
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: Cache the frontpage links on HN?
Fantastic, although the extension doesn't work for me? Does it work for the latest Chrome?
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: Cache the frontpage links on HN?
Sometimes the articles on HN are to fresh to be cached by Google yet, it's what I use as well sometimes. But still when I'm in my flow reading the frontpage I want to see the content as fast as possible, and don't waste time on googling it etc.
JeroenRansijn··on Show HN: Hiro – Fast and responsive notetaking meets semantic search
Markdown support would be awesome, great interface. Although, the hover to show the sidebar would be better handled with a click event in my opinion.
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: Website that generates promotional screenshots on Apple Devices
Awesome! Thanks for the share
JeroenRansijn··on How I just unsubscribed every Digg employee from their own service
Alright guys, thanks for the comments, I'll subscribe them again, and let them now. Didn't consider it so serious.
JeroenRansijn··on How I just unsubscribed every Digg employee from their own service
I understand your reaction, but this is basically a backdoor for checking if e-mail accounts exist, and could be misused by serious attacks. I'm only exposing it.
JeroenRansijn··on Hacker News Web App for Mobile
Excellent. From a usability standpoint, please design a blank state for the content area on desktop, it is not clear at the moment. @publicfig "EDIT: I would honestly like to see this scale on desktop, just because it's a pretty great interface for Hacker News. " also backs this up.

How? Instead of the orange, make it light, and add label + icon, (like in Mail.app) to show nothing is selected. Just my 2c.

JeroenRansijn··on I'm creating a website to promote early stage sites and ideas
Cool project!
JeroenRansijn··on Conceptual rebrand of Google's 'Squared' education initiative
Interesting concept, you've put a lot of work in this! First of all, it is 100x better than the current website/branding, but I have a general remark: the style is not quite inline with Google's corporate branding.
JeroenRansijn··on Webflow (YC S13) Lets You Design Responsive Websites Visually, Publish Instantly
Awesome product! Keep up the good work.
JeroenRansijn··on What a 600,000-megapixel-wide picture looks like
Absolutely mind boggling!
JeroenRansijn··on Show HN: Floobits – Remote pair programming done right
Nice release guys! Good to see you on the front page on HN. Keep going.
JeroenRansijn··on Wintersmith – a flexible static site generator
I took a look at your reviews. But can you clarify what you mean with "mishandles symbolic links"? Thank you.
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: Modern stacks and frameworks for fast web app development?
CompoundJS for Node.js — it is very streamlined, and is in active development, although some of the docs are not yet updated.
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: HN meetup in Utrecht?
Thanks for the quick reply, it sounds great to become more part of this community. I am finishing off high school this year, but have been working at the amazing @AanZeeNL as a creator for over a year now (although not actually working all the time due to my obligations to school). As for the Amsterdam hacker/founder community, could I just meet up, or should I qualify to some conditions? Conditions being: working at a startup or being a founder, or is it enough to be interested and be an aspiring founder?
JeroenRansijn··on Ask HN: HN meetup in Utrecht?
For quite some time I have been doing design/development, but HN is somewhat new to me — in the sense there is a whole community I can participate in. What would be the general idea of such a meet-up? I live near Leiden, so Utrecht is not so great for me, but I would like to get in touch more with the startup/hacker community within the Netherlands. In addition, is it common to meet-up together with total strangers, or is it more likely an existing group meets up?
JeroenRansijn··on The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Sass
Working on a Coffeescript project together with node, I figured stylus would be an awesome addition, for an js-only stack. Began out all nice and fine, one thing bugging me was that syntax highlighting was horrible in ST (if you know of a better package please let me know). As the project grew I encountered very annoying implementations when using the arguments keyword in mixins (box-shadow I am looking at you) and I ended up adding nasty if constructs inside my mixins. Stlus was getting annoying over time, at first I thought it to be the liberal kid on the block — who needs braces/colons anymore? But it turns out the highlighting could not figure out what was going on, and me neither. As the project grew, I started missing my braces.

Compared to sass/less, sometimes I needed to build before I knew if something worked the way I expected, in addition visual clues are non existent and comments were needed to identify structure.

So in response to this comments, stylus is quite nice, but it needs some rules, especially for bigger projects, because it does get messy. And last thing, I wish it was more like Coffeescript, at least use # for comments stylus and you make my day.
