J_cst··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
Exactly that. 100% correct
J_cst··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
The reason is that it's much smaller in terms of internal volume.
J_cst··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
Yes, exactly. Problem being that it does not fry with air, but with the oil that you need to put in it anyway to fry your chips. That's the thing to be debunked, that air can not fry anything and to fry you need oil or grease. Seems that almost everybody is blindly believing to the marketing name instead of actually realising that the item is still frying with oil. The oil that they put in it. C'mon.
J_cst··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
Three weeks? OMG that's a long journey for a t-shirt...
J_cst··on Ask HN: What sub $200 product improved your 2022
It's not possible to fry without oil or another type of grease, and that's by definition. Did you notice that to use your air fryer you need to use oil anyway? There's a fantastic debunking video on YouTube about that. Unfortunately it's in Italian only.

J_cst··on What Is a Wildcard Person?
That's basically talking about me. On my job they call me Mr. Wolf and I love it. The description is quite accurate, main difference being that the article focuses mainly on semi-marketing tasks instead I tend to be assigned higher level issues (I mainly deal with emergencies raised by our CEOs). It was nice to read it, I feel less lonely now.

J_cst··on Ask HN: How many of you delibrately wear a watch that isn't a smart watch?
I'm sorry, English is not my first language and obviously I was unable to convey my opinion clearly enough. The first sentence was referring to the fact that in western countries almost everybody has a smartphone so there's no real need of a watch to measure time. Being unsure if the above holds true for non western countries too, I have limited my statement to western countries. Basically my statement was referring to general availability of smartphones and not to the preciseness of western smartphones vs. non western smartphones. Probably I should have referred to 'first world' countries vs. non 'first world' countries. Sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you for your comment.
J_cst··on Ask HN: How many of you delibrately wear a watch that isn't a smart watch?
In western countries (at least) nobody needs a watch to keep track of time. We have ultra precise time on out smartphones and devices. So wearing a watch today is more of a statement of appreciation for an item that sits in the middle of craftsmanship and art. Often those people would prefer a mechanical watch (manual winding or automatic of sort). For someone else is a status symbol useful to signal wealth. Then there are specific fields/occupations which require a precise watch on the wrist (military? aviation?) and they would probably use some sort of quartz chronograph. Personally I wear a watch which my father gave me as a present for my wedding, but recently its value grow too much and I'm worried to wear it. So I bought an automatic vintage Seiko. Now I am in the position to have to pay a bank to safely store my watch without being able to wear it. I believe the most rational thing to do is just to sell it, but I don't have the heart to do it.
J_cst··on Most Americans oppose trans athletes in female sports, poll finds
The fight is impressive. The female born athlete has been impressive. In a sane state of mind the challenge should be seen as unfair IMHO. Thank you for the link.
J_cst··on Ask HN: What's your greatest enjoyment in life?
You should talk with your wife about visiting a swinger's club, but only if your relationship is super solid.

J_cst··on Ferrari owner Exor wants to build the Italian Y Combinator
Hi from Italy. What the parent is saying is correct/partially correct. Still Italy is a very difficult place to do business for a number of factors: burocracy, cultural attitude (who you know means too much), strict labour legislation, slow justice system just to mention the first few which come to my mind. If you come from abroad the above factors become 100times harder to manage/understand. We have a lot of talents and the same amount of weaknesses. Not easy at all. Still a great place to visit and to spend holidays in. Sorry I don't mean to be harsh.

J_cst··on Sergey Brin: The Facebook phenomenon is a problem (2007)
Thank you for the nice words, those mean a lot to me. Have a great day
J_cst··on Sergey Brin: The Facebook phenomenon is a problem (2007)
I think this should not be over-read. I believe that that's a form of sarcasm / ironical phrase, meaning _few minor incidents plus some planned retirements_ . As of he's implying that the employees tend to get overworried/annoyed easily for any minor incident.

Sorry I don't speak English natively (and to make things worst, I'm Italian!!) and I'm not sure I was able to express my thoughts in a comprehensible way! Please feel free to rephrase if you can do it better then me! Thanks! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

J_cst··on Strategy is not X
I've been thinking of a definition of strategy for quite a long time alongside a friend and colleague. We opted for the following: Strategy the link of useful choices which need to be taken to reach a new desirable state starting from the current state.
J_cst··on My Daughter’s Homework Is Killing Me (2013)
Wow, that's a real fatality. But perhaps you should have avoided it. OP was just bringing in his/her experience. Perhaps well worth a spelling error? Your shot was too easy/gratuitous IMHO
J_cst··on LiBlast: A Libre Multiplayer FPS Game Built with Godot 4 and Blender
I enjoy it and have (some, little) experience with it. I'd love to team up to build a little project. I'm good at project management and I can propose mechanics. I also can (little) code. j at costantini dot pw . Italian time zone.
J_cst··on Why Musk’s biggest space gamble is freaking out his competitors
Perhaps the parent is trying to pass the message that even if both the projects are a failure is still fine and all the people involved are happy because they are getting their money anyway? Just guessing.

J_cst··on Sonoma County farm strikes black truffle gold after 9 years of waiting
Yes, that's clear. But also accounting scarcity a 3x price seems high.
J_cst··on Sonoma County farm strikes black truffle gold after 9 years of waiting
I'm from an area in Italy where truffle is quite common. This year prices are higher due to lower production (climate has been too dry). The quoted price seems high, expecially due to the fact that that's a black truffle.
J_cst··on Ask HN: What will stay the same in the next 50 years?
Funny enough, just yesterday I was thinking that cloth hangers will stay the same forever... Don't know why
J_cst··on Ask HN: Advice about aging parents
"Americans or Westerners to generalize can simply put their aging parents in elderly care and call it the day - life moves on." That's quite a dismissal. Reading it sound like 'westerners and Americans just don't care about their elderly ones'. I assure you that's not the case and in general every generalization it's wrong almost by definition. Be well.
J_cst··on Atari ST in daily use since 1985 [video]
This comment is equally odd and beautiful. It flows like a nonsense dream. I picture it like the images generated by an AI. Thank you for sharing it. I'm not sarcastic/ironic about it.
J_cst··on Than Average
Humble suggestion to a great project: I'd put a different colour to a single 'person' of the crowd so to represent the user and to highlight in which group he is fallen. That changes for each answer obviously. Kudos for shipping this nice project.
