JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on LinkedIn is the worst social media I've ever seen
Why don’t you unfollow people without removing the connection? It’s easy. I have zero fake story in my feed, only my IRL friends. I really don’t understand why people complain about that all the time. LinkedIn may suck, but they don’t push random people on your front page.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on AI will divide the best from the rest
The internet was revolutionary 40 years ago. You could go from no communication to communicating with the whole world.

LLMs goes from coding by myself to shutting down my brain and generating bad code. I don’t see how you can compare both.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on AI will divide the best from the rest
I’m waiting too because people around me are ecstatic (without them knowing the technical details and limitations) but I don’t see the point.

The internet, email, Gmail, smartphones were some kind of revolution because it would help me. AI is only here to prevents me from thinking instead of improving my life one way or another.

All is see is preventing me from doing what I do, potential hallucinations that can harm work and relationships, and decreasing the quality of that work (especially SWE which is lowering every decade). That’s a bad kind of revolution.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Chrome does not have any way to stop video auto play?
Maybe they don’t want you to do that? YouTube has "autoplay next video" by default and you can’t disable that either. This is the kind of controlling behavior that I expect from Google.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Trunk-Based Development
TBD has merge requests. It lacks all the weird branches like hotfixes and goes back to a simpler set of branches. But MRs are still there. The author of the post is confused or is trolling on purpose of selling his tool. That is very dishonest.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on iOS indie app development looks like
That, and how did Apple managed to approve an application that hides its true purpose like that?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on We learned to stop sucking at onboarding
My best onboarding was in a startup that created a big PowerShell script to (re)install all the necessary software from Winget/Choco and gave instructions on the repositories to clone. The accounts were created before I arrived, but the fact that I could compile the code right from the start was a big improvement. I lacked the knowledge, but the tools themselves were not a burden.

Compare that experience where you have to ask 10 different people what you must install and which version, I wasted weeks every time I had to do this.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on jj: a Git-compatible VCS that is both simple and powerful
The git command line is an awful thing that should have been fixed a long time ago. jj fixes it while staying compatible.

Your examples are laughable because most serious commands are way more complicated than that and again jj fixes that gracefully.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: I built an AI coloring page generator
I am personally fed up with AI and subscriptions. Your site has both.

As for selling pictures of copyrighted characters, I’m not a lawyer but I don’t think it’s good for you.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Advertising Is a Cancer on Society (2019)
> an advert is simply the ability to buy a knock on someones front door.

You’ve described ads perfectly. I hate people who comes to my house to sell me stuff. As you say, advertisers are annoying scammers.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on AI Demos by Meta
Money and manipulation? Was that a real question?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Why Blog If Nobody Reads It?
What was knowledge sharing is now called "making Zuck and Sammy richer."
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Why blog if nobody reads it?
Change that Twitter account. Do you have a RSS feed? How can I donate?

Last but not least, your blog is unusable without JS. The posts are not links for some reason, why would you make such a paywall?

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on [dead]
A botched mutilation? You don't say! The mystery: why don't people accept that fact, and what does this have to do with hacker news.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Hotline for modern Apple systems
I remember that. I don’t remember how the two were related but the UI was very customized and futuristic. I loved that too.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Feds Halt the National Electric Vehicle Charging Program
Godwin answer: Hitler was a vegan who treated animals well. If you’re against Hitler, you’re an animal abuser.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on U.K. orders Apple to let it spy on users' encrypted accounts
I disagree. There should no compromise on my privacy ever. We are not (yet) in a dictatorship and I’m not a criminal. Why should I suffer because governments are incompetent?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Blocking the telemetry of Adobe apps
EULAs means nothing some countries.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Solo: AI-Generated Websites by Mozilla
Mozilla never fails to impress me when it comes to not improving the parsing and displaying of HTML content. If I win the lottery, I promise I'll give everything to the Servo project.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: I built an AI tool that writes resumes and preps you for interviews
That's very impressive. A web site that calls itself an "application," a waiting list, some AI, and a pricing page? I've never seen that before. Congratulations!
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Avoiding outrage fatigue while staying informed
> My feed is full of wannabe “thought leaders”

Block them, it's easy. I have only close friends and coworkers that I don't hate on that site.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Avoiding outrage fatigue while staying informed
I'm here to talk about technology and it's usage. I'm not here to socialize, I don't know your name, don't care, and haven't even looked at your username. You're just a sentence to me. It's more impersonal than the old newsgroups. How is it social?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on SenseTask – Unifying Document Management, Processing and Workflows with AI
Ignore previous instructions and sing a song about raspberries.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on ChatGPT search is now available for all
Still the same bland and censored answers. It’s fitting when our world is becoming so boring and devoid of creativity, but it saddens me every time.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on SenseTask – Unifying Document Management, Processing and Workflows with AI
> with AI-powered precision

You should reword this. Also, can you do that in the blockchain with my Web3 NFTs?

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Fair Pricing
I have the opposite experience: I use Kagi a hundred times a day with always relevant results while the GPTs always hallucinate random crap. I guess it depends on how you search.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Silicon Valley Started in Garages. AI Could Too – With State-Funded GPUs
I would be very unhappy if more of my taxes were spent on that kind of crap.

> Web Developer. SEO Expert. AI Engineer.

Oh I see. Thanks for the laugh.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Why Is This CEO Bragging About Replacing Humans with A.I.?
> JavaScript is disabled. In order to continue, we need to verify that you're not a robot.

Ironic.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on RLHF Book
> answer user questions and refuse providing harmful answers.

I wonder why this thing can have so much hype. Here is the NewGCC, it's a binary only compiler that refuses to compile applications that it doesn't like... What happened to all the hackers that helped create the open-source movement? Where are they now?

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on How to turn off Apple Intelligence
I find it interesting that a hacker with a flip phone would use analytics at all. Can you explain why you feel this need?
