JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on One hour one startup is ready use AI – Here's My Weekend Hack to Find a Good One
"I always wanted to have a waitlist" said no one ever.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Generate impressive-looking terminal output, look busy when stakeholders walk by
It already exists as a scam on the web. A web page that pretends to be your locked desktop, and goes into fullscreen automatically. On top of it you have a scary warning telling you to call a phone number to fix that.

Old people fall for it easily, and don't know that you can hit F12 or something to go into window mode and close it. I had to "fix" that virus a few times recently.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on [dead]
It's interesting but off-topic: "Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, or celebrities."
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Where to Start to Be a Hacker
What do you think a hacker is?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on “Normal” engineers are the key to great teams
I have twice, but it's always huge companies ($billions and 100k employees) who has an established business, and some kind of monopoly which could not threaten the survival of the company.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Cursor told me I should learn coding instead of asking it to generate it
When I see juniors using LLMs, you cannot have technical debt because everything is recreated from scratch all the time. It's a disaster and no one learns anything, but people seem to love the hype.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on New tools for building agents
It feels like I'm becoming way too old for all the new computer stuff. I spent 2 decades trying to use every language available to write reliable programs for everyone, and now the whole world is jumping in this black hole / black box controlled by a few big companies where the output is random and definitely not up to my own standards.

It's very sad because we were supposed to do better than those who came before us, but instead we're throwing everything in the trash for a so-called productivity that I don't think even exists out of the influencers' brains.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Fallacies of MLOps
MLOps... How do you integrate that in your AIgile process?
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Ecosia is teaming up with Qwant to build a European search index
I can confirm this. I was already cautious with Qwant because it was, from the very beginning, the worst search engine I've ever seen.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Take It Down Act: A Flawed Attempt to Protect Victims That'll Lead to Censorship
The GDPR is unrelated to the internet. It is very deep and protects my personal information in every company. Please educate yourself.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on WB offers replacements, but no refunds, for DVDs rotting prematurely
You rent a disk which you cannot legally backup. I expect a refund if it’s not usable anymore.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on WB offers replacements, but no refunds, for DVDs rotting prematurely
I would ask for a replacement if the seller and the law said "I am renting the book."
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on The Return of Digg, a Star of an Earlier Internet Era
They'll have none. Digg was taken over by power-users IIRC and that's why everyone left. As for the spam and policies, I don't expect any change.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Sonauto API – Generative music for developers
Some kind of Dadaist movement I guess. Listen to Breathe of Death, it’s hilarious and then you cry.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Sonauto API – Generative music for developers
The first 80s song I heard was a literal copy of Phil Collins. But there are no emotions attached to it (for me), and the lyrics are random. It’s more like supermarket background music IMHO, not something I would pay for, especially when we have centuries of music to discover already, why make fake stuff like that?

Edit: I have just heard the funniest most ridiculous metal song ever without a touch of metal inside. Breathe of Death, it’s like a bad joke.

If thats the future of anything, I’m going back to plain C (code) when I retire and I’ll never approach the internet ever again.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Hallucinations in code are the least dangerous form of LLM mistakes
They have also found a way to force every developer and company to get a $20/month subscription forever.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: A little go program to git tag the next tag you need
It looks like a pipeline or process problem that should be solved elsewhere.

What happens if I make 10 tags at once? And why would I be allowed to do that? Do you have that authority or are those random tags that are destroyed later?

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Vibecoders – Find software engineers that are good at vibecoding
I’ve heard this a thousand times: You know that small stupid tool you wrote last week? Everyone is using it and you must adapt it to all our services (let’s say 100) by the end of the week. Ask if you need help, we’ll ignore you because we don’t have any specs.

Also as OP said: "a domain expert who understands process" What happens when that expert retires?

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Vibecoders – Find software engineers that are good at vibecoding
> You are to build the website vibecoders.com

Your generator failed to respect this spec. Why?

Also where is the final code --> https://github.com/andrewarrow/aaai (it's weird though, not sure I would approve such a pull request).

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Vibecoders – Find software engineers that are good at vibecoding
They cannot do that yet but it is coming soon!

You only need to upload all your source code to Claude, and tomorrow they’ll be able to do it too. It’s magical.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Vibecoders – Find software engineers that are good at vibecoding
I’m not sure those new fantastic engineers have enough hardware knowledge to do the combo Ctrl+C/V.

Using a keyboard is like writing embedded applications to them.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Louis Rossmann opines on the Firefox debacle [video]
No, remove the quarantine flag on the command-line (find how on Google).
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Louis Rossmann opines on the Firefox debacle [video]
I wonder why they haven't tried that yet:

Firefox Support Edition, for $10 a month you get nothing (or maybe some Sync stuff) but all the funds go to Firefox exclusively, and your copy will show a pretty star on startup or something else.

Patron Edition: for $20 a month, same thing but you also get the VPN from Mullvad.

160M users. If 10% subscribe, you get $160M every month. I'm a marketing genius.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on What, if anything, should I do about using Mozilla's Firefox
I respect what they do, but it's a bunch of patches and scripts on top of Firefox, maybe less demanding that the real deal. Also:

> no donations means no expectations

Which is very healthy way to take care of a personal project. And if Firefox ever closes, all the forks will have to close at the same time anyway.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Hello, World – Introducing Soj.ooO
The content is hidden if you have JS disabled. I'm not asking for a fully functional site, but maybe show the comments of the current page in read-only mode.

Your pojangmacha thing explanation is way too complicated. Just say that it's a mix between Twitter and a forum.

Not allowed: Illegal content. That's broad, we don't even know where you are.

No nudity: there are platforms where it's allowed (BlueSky) and it works fine. But it's your choice.

"How is my data protected": you actually don't answer this question at all.

You can't delete or edit your post? That's a bug don't you think?

As for the main page, you should reconsider your stance on free speech for that specific part of the site since we have a mix of crazy people from p/islam, and crazy MAGA on p/freethinkers. It's not a good advertisement for your site.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Sam Bankman-Fried cozies up to Trump and Elon Musk reportedly looking for pardon
Never was, like Musk. It's insulting to pretend being autistic in order to explain your shitty behavior.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Sam Bankman-Fried cozies up to Trump and Elon Musk reportedly looking for pardon
> I don’t think anyone was guilty

Hannibal Lecter is not guilty either since he's technically crazy, but we don't have many options for people who are innocent like that. I wish we focused on people who became guilty through a series of bad decisions and limited outcomes, rather than poor millionaires who were raised by Stanford professors.

JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Sergey Brin says 60 hours a week is the 'sweet spot'
I wish society frowned upon the stupid and degrading ideas of people like that ugly Bozo.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Show HN: Berlin Swapfest – Electronics flea market
That makes sense. Where I live the large flea markets always have 1 or 2 local cops, and maybe a fireman to handle any emergency.
JTyQZSnP3cQGa8B··on Mozilla site down due to "overdue hosting payments"
> It sounds more like a error

It seems like Mozilla has made quite a lot of errors in the past few years.
