If you can retire at 40 having lived your 20s/30s to the fullest then game on, but it would be crazy to sacrifice that time when you are so free and full of energy otherwise IMHO.
FWIW I am fortunate enough to have really enjoyed by earlier years and be mostly retired in my early 40s.
Streaming comments on YouTube give it a run for its money, what absolute garbage.
To be clear I’m talking about the mindless scrolling many of us do, if you’re reading a dissertation on battery chemistry or something on your phone I find that’s a different story.
It’s a tough problem I guess with so many stock systems out there and inevitably whoever creates the site will want to monetise it, then slowly enshitify it.
> Physical activity has little effect on my weight change.
Those two statements appear to be contradictory?
Investing in the stock market is far more common in the US compared to the EU for the average person (something like 60% versus 15% of people in the EU). I imagine that has a huge impact on the amount of money sloshing around to fund companies from the top down.
The EU is bigger than the US in population terms, but when it comes to raising funding for a new startup it’s hard to look far beyond the borders of your own small country for many reasons. If this could be fixed it would make a massive difference in my view.
I’ve been involved in the founding of a few companies in Ireland and raising funding is tough and for all the work the figures are tiny compared to the US. You’ll likely be talking to Irish and UK investors only.
Even that is not boring enough I reckon. It is totally fine to find a problem that already has a solution and just execute better on delivering the solution than your competitors. Many (most?) businesses start out this way yet I've heard plenty of times that somebody will not start a business until they find a problem that needs a solution.
