This is hilarious. "a walking brewerey".

Plus, the first sentence.

  >Michelle Giannotto knew something was wrong with her husband Donato after he had an infection following a simple nose surgery.
The guy's name is Donato Giannotto.

Not being mean, just fun to say.

Edit: not at all funny and irrelevant, apparently.

18 hours battery life is mostly marketing. Not even sure how to test that, maybe on 20% display brightness with no programs running, other than the OS...assuming it doesn't take screenlock/display off into account?

doesn't that (export to html) already exist as part of org-mode?
ILMostro7··on Evolving my note-taking processes
Lol was just thinking, IIRC that's how org-mode came to exist

Do you get paid every time the word "idea" appears on the page?

Interesting process, though.

thanks

Age and cognitive issues may hinder you from effectively doing "a good job" of that.

Even so, there is either someone available for some clarification, in my experience. Obviously, this varies across companies and at various levels of helpfulness. Your point is valid, though. The other part there is that it puts the onus on the third-party site(s), exacerbating the problem; whereas, if the interviewers do not understand the question, they are more likely to focus on one of those items to correct going forward.

Scrape a lil more off my backside, please. Of course I understand that as soon as I bend down, I have given consent and two enthusiastic thumbs up!

You could either enjoy the hint of vulgarity there or the lack thereof; otherwise lazy reading, imo. Unless you are of the opinion that the only way a company can make money is through intrusive/abusive data analytics.

Closer to "not in my backyard", until and unless it absolutely and directly benefits ME

Easier to justify. Maybe even a little test or shooting off steam for their own life.

ILMostro7··on Patching an embedded synthesiser OS from 1996 with Ghidra
Thank you very much for the follow up as well. At a risk of generalizing, it's frustrating, to say the least, that a 26-year-old device can be treated like safeguarded property or an industry secret at the same time when they're happily cast in the dustbins of a product cycle; or lost as insignificant pieces of company mergers.
ILMostro7··on Fedora 36: A brave new (DRM/KMS only) world
This actually highlights a great, albeit belated, piece of work. In the end, this cleans up some legacy code and it helps to unify the framebuffer display across vendors AND (some) architectures.

Except, there's a difference when you're in a room with somebody who can tell when the shitty site or the vague nature of a question makes it difficult to complete the request. They can also better gauge someone's understanding of subject matter, merely by talking through the question, approach, etc.

The availability of these sites makes it seem like it's a standard, which adds to the problem. Some small company might not have taken that approach. Now, you don't want to fall behind by not making use of a widely-accepted "standard" practice.

ILMostro7··on Why I Hate Star Trek (2009)
Maybe a popular work needs a common thread, in order to make the storyline more relatable somehow for the reader (or viewer); even if/when it's unintentional. Ultimately, the reader/viewer can draw parallels to their own experience and viewpoints, or they might just get emersed into the fictional storyline altogether. In the end, casting aspersions about anything, especially a work of fiction, with undeserved authority or apparent certainty as if it's a proclamation of facts or some natural law is misguided and too common these days.

Gonna leave that run-on...

ILMostro7··on Pens and Tablets for Linux
I wonder if it has to do with any underlying 3rd-party components. Otherwise, yeah, makes no sense.

It might be worth clarifying that Wacom is not taking that approach. But their statement there suggests that the underlying reason for lack of hardware support in Linux is the OpenSource nature of the software.

ILMostro7··on The Vacuum Tube’s Forgotten Rival
Divide and conquer approach of the populace, IMHO. From an international perspective, though, it may be useful to spur competition.
ILMostro7··on The Vacuum Tube’s Forgotten Rival
Presumably refers to technology that was supplanted by an alternative technology or implementation for wider use. Inferred meaning, no sources to cite.
ILMostro7··on The Vacuum Tube’s Forgotten Rival
Not that it should matter, but considering the source (and time), the phrasing could be understood to imply a level of pride that we got there first. Although, they do seem to give the Germans credit for expanding the technology. Nevertheless, it's the reader that chooses how to interpret the text, and what lessons to learn from it.

Arguably, the names of these lists imply a level of blame; or at least evoke emotion from potential visitors. But, that's the name of the game these days.
