IChooseY0u··on Everyday Tiktokers Are Making $6k a Month Posting Stealth Ads
I mostly agree. good things often have to buy attention just to be found. I am very suspicious of things that pay for it attention continuously. The extreme influencers have their entire life become adspace.The gross part is its dressed up like a friend telling you about their day.

this one food guy i follow really loves eating out. and this might be the only way he can afford to do it every day. but the entire setup rewards never saying anything negative.. so i can't ever take his recommendations seriously.

IChooseY0u··on Cartesian – AI 3D Modeling for Design
Looking at a bunch of these: I don't think they are even manufacturable. This is something you would use in a video game.
IChooseY0u··on Google Mapped a Fruit Fly's Brain. Now It's Playing Doom and Super Mario 64
how exactly do you decide which neurons to stimulate? dopamine connections are enough to get it to solve problems?
IChooseY0u··on Claude's new system prompt doesn't want to reproduce song lyrics
This is something that Chinese models like Kimi/GLM will never care about. These kind of limitations along with the cyber-program nonsense is exactly why people will avoid OpenAI/Anthropic in the future.

IChooseY0u··on DLL that was not present in memory despite not being formally unloaded
Windows COM is super weird and way over engineered.
IChooseY0u··on Claude Fable 5
Fable 5's safety measures flagged this message for cybersecurity or biology topics. They may flag safe, normal content as well. These measures let us bring you Mythos-level capability in other areas sooner, and we're working to refine them. Switched to Opus 4.8. biology? what the heck?

IChooseY0u··on To teach in the era of ChatGPT is to know pain
> They may view an instructor as an opponent standing in the way of the grade they want. And they see “getting the right answers” as the goal of education because that’s how you secure that grade. But that’s no more true than thinking that logging a count of reps is the goal of bodybuilding.

The author is essentially saying "you're doing education wrong" to students who never signed up for the author's version of what education is for. Students are making a rational economic calculation: they need a degree to get a job.

IChooseY0u··on Wall Street Is Paywalling Your Kids' Sports
Like how much does this actually cost a year?
IChooseY0u··on Tell HN: Amazon has deactivated my seller account
I think people would be surprised what is on the internal seller forums. There is really like a huge amount of issues that Amazon fails to help with. Literally everything from onboarding to protecting sellers from refund scams.

I suspect big sellers must have dedicated account managers

IChooseY0u··on Show HN: ChartDB Agent – Cursor for DB schema design
isnt this what the agents are for, you assign them jobs to make changes then evaluate those changes. there is a necessary orchestration piece and maybe even a triage role to sort through things to do and errors to fix
IChooseY0u··on Th64: Tiny Hash Function in C
why not just use fnv64
IChooseY0u··on Microsoft is working on a Copilot Pro subscription (APK Teardown)
You can just be specific in your question to not to do this
IChooseY0u··on 418 I'm a teapot
Make sure you pre-allocate a buffer that is short and stout
IChooseY0u··on How to make smaller C and C++ binaries
Why is avoiding STL bad advice? Lack of problem solving skills? You could survive with LIST_ENTRY and UNICODE_STRING-type structures.
IChooseY0u··on Modern C for C++ peeps (2019)
What's the point of this? Just use an int.

typedef struct { int val; } meters_t;

IChooseY0u··on Stripe laying off around 14% of workforce
Sounds like they are being more than reasonable.

> 14 weeks of severance for all departing employees > will pay our 2022 annual bonus for all departing employees, regardless of their departure date > 6 months of existing healthcare premiums or healthcare continuation

IChooseY0u··on Why aren't there C conferences? (2018)
There is nothing stopping you from storing size of the string. See: UNICODE_STRING

This is a silly argument.

IChooseY0u··on NotepadNext: A cross-platform reimplementation of Notepad++
This is very nice. Looks like you have a lot of experience with Qt.
IChooseY0u··on We need more boutique search engines
Searchcode looks great. Wish it had a recently indexed sorter.
IChooseY0u··on Launch HN: Senpai.gg (YC S21) – Personal gaming coach for PC gamers
This only applies to Asia. Nobody gets sued for cheating in US/UK/Can. Cheat sellers being the exception.
IChooseY0u··on Naïve UI - A Vue 3 Component Library
I think that grid system is actually really nice.
