That's a wild take. I think its pretty universally accepted the GCC and the GNU toolchain is what made this ubiquitous.
Also, the x32 ABI is still around, support is still around, I don't know where the author got that notion
To be 100% clear, it's not using gdb/gdbserver under the hood right?
The bugs I linked above are over a decade old, and I have to patch them every time I compile GDB server. Ultimately (IIRC) GDB needs to rework how it handles signals (to their credit, ptrace is a horribly stupid API, especially before PTRACE_SEIZE, so I don't blame them for having issues)
Herb is developing a whole second syntax, I wouldn't call that minimal changes. And probably the only way to evolve the language at this point, because like you said Sean is introducing a different language entirely, so its not C++ at that point.
I really like some of Herb's ideas, but it seems less and less likely they'll ever be added to C++
I agree it's not great.
This seems like the kind of problem that could be better solved by coming up with a better algorithm. Like, ultimately the model is performing an "algorithm" of sorts on the data to guess the key length.
Thanks for the ad hominem
I'm hoping something like Herb's C++ syntax 2 will make the language useable for mortals like me.
