Hovertruck··on AT&T will start selling customers’ usage data
I haven't experienced any throttling, and I use 3-4 gigs each month. Is T-Mobile that much cheaper...?
Hovertruck··on AT&T will start selling customers’ usage data
That would be annoying. Still, though, it wouldn't change my mind about this topic.
Hovertruck··on AT&T will start selling customers’ usage data
Hmm. This may be an unpopular opinion but I guess I don't really care. I love my AT&T plan since I'm still grandfathered in for unlimited data. I'm not going to walk away from it, especially not when I'm just part of a bunch of anonymous statistics.
Hovertruck··on Why was I banned from Instagram?
My old account is just a 404 now. :\
Hovertruck··on Why was I banned from Instagram?
So all of my photos, followers, comments... are just gone? This is terrible.
Hovertruck··on The 4 AM Army
The only point I'm trying to make is that your original post positioned it as unavoidable. It can happen in any industry, but it doesn't mean it will.
Hovertruck··on The 4 AM Army
Sure they have. Look at banks and other major enterprises, it's exactly the same.

My point isn't about engineers; the same can be said of architects or designers or even middle managers. If you have a team that you trust, having any number and grouping of them able to come together around a problem will produce results. A team being "flexible" does not make them "cogs".

Hovertruck··on The 4 AM Army
That might be true sometimes, but it depends on the expectation. If I have a team of great developers, I'd expect to be able to put any of them on anything and walk away with something great in the end knowing that they brought their expertise and best ideas.
Hovertruck··on Why was I banned from Instagram?
Hmm, it doesn't sound like it. They don't say anything about deleting accounts in there, just deleting the content and what sounds like getting those users to change their passwords.
Hovertruck··on The Reddit sleuths who brought down a meme empire
I'd call this the opposite. It's a devolution, equivalent to if we changed the meaning of the word soda to only apply to cola.
Hovertruck··on The Reddit sleuths who brought down a meme empire
It really bothers me that the word "meme" has become a synonym for these Advice Animal style images.

Hovertruck··on Minimize use of CxO titles at early company stages
"Minimize use of titles at early company stages" would simplify this a bit.
Hovertruck··on Relative Line Numbers in Vim
"Most testing libraries allow you to run a subset of tests based on their line number by running something like rspec spec/models/user_spec.rb:15."

This sounds... strange to me. When would this be an advantage over some sort of named test? e.g. `manage.py test Thing.validation_test`

Hovertruck··on Show HN: The Choice – An online programming puzzle RPG
If you're referring to the "what is more useless" question, the answer is "nothing"
Hovertruck··on Topcoat – CSS for clean and fast web apps
Can we maybe get a more useful title for this submission?
Hovertruck··on Google blimps will carry wireless signal across Africa
They'd probably find more value in the general populace not having access to the rest of the world.

Hovertruck··on Seamless and GrubHub Announce Merger
Not at all. <Street Address> <Apt Number> New York NY 10027. It would present me with three "corrected" options that were all the same, and then when I chose one it would send me to an error page.
Hovertruck··on Seamless and GrubHub Announce Merger
I used to get an error page any time I would enter my address on Grubhub with no other options, but Seamless/Delivery.com/etc worked great.

Hovertruck··on Show HN: Groupdate
At the same time it should probably make itself as easy to find on google as possible.

Hovertruck··on Show HN: Heap is a new approach to analytics. Just capture everything
I can speak to this a little bit, actually.

Chartbeat has never supported IE, which as you say sounds like cutting off a major part of your market. Even moreso when you consider our customers which include pretty much every major publisher in the US. However what we've learned is that if your product provides enough value, people have no problem installing Chrome or Firefox or whatever.

To this day we receive pretty much no requests for IE support at all, which enabled us to build a product with heavy HTML5 (mostly canvas) and CSS3 usage.
