This is exactly how the game Seventh Continent works, its just a collection of 1000 cards and if you have a symbol then you sometimes draw a different card for if you have key items.
Issue with flywheels tends to be containment when they explode, flashing a MWh of metal due to containment failure I would hope to be safer.
Additionally a superconductor wouldnt have gyroscopic forces to worry about.
There are other factors here though, if they have a nice watch and freshly pressed suit I see them as that they are putting their money to where they see value. A car to them is just a pay to get to a place.
Its not even that I study with other people, it's the "what is he going on about" while in class that I miss the most. I am expecting to drop a full letter grade this semester from my average just from being online.
Most gatcha want about a hour of your time to two hours a day, you can extend that to about 3-5 hours with energy packs which you can stock up on. Most free to play gatcha players also play more than one gatcha game. Personally I play F:GO and Arknights alternating primary depending on if a event is running.
As someone who has been really hooked into gatcha (I counted 9 hours yesterday) this is honestly true. It's very personally rewarding as compared to Twitter (if a massive time waste).
If I lived in a 1100 ft apartment and had to work out of it every day I would legitimately probably never leave my apartment for anything other than food. It would drive me mad, and I would probably quit to work somewhere else.
The only rebuttal to this that has been effective to a class is: if you see it at the day you ignore the time expecting it to be at 11:59PM. If I put it at 7 AM (to give you the whole night) the next day then you think it will be due at the end of the day so it is staying at 11:59PM.
I anecdotally have experienced exactly zero service interuptions while using various VPS providers around eastern and western europe while accessing websites. If you avoid the big name providers they dont seem to block you.
The thing about that is all the energy from a star is still being radiated, just in infared. So if this was true a IR telescope should see a star like object with no visible light but a large amount of infared emitted.
What is strange about these images is that i can't interpret them as real. I have seen so much scifi stuff like this that i just assume it can't possibly be real.
The issue is not that we all face a catastrophic cataclysm but that climate change makes the earth significantly less amenable to us. Cropland destruction, lack of drinking water and relocation of population centers due to changing coastlines are extremely expensive and preventing that would be advantageous. The earth will be just fine without us.
Considering that the yield strength of a lot of steels is at or below 600 MPa I wonder what these machines are made out of. If you wanted to make one yourself a 50 ton hydraulic press would generate the pressure needed but the seals that you would need for this are crazy to be food safe.
Home canning would do almost the same effect for much cheaper.
If anyone wants to learn more about "non shiny futures" then I highly recommend Issac Author. He explains al of the crazy scifi stuff in very available language and really demonstrates this kind of thinking.
I think that in terms of what you are talking about bitrot is good. People should have their stuff deleted after a while but there is a sense of permanentness in internet culture and that should change to one of fleetingness which more bitrott may actually bring about causing more people to back up their own stuff instead of leaving it to these companies.
Anything outside of telecommunications or earth observation. Human spaceflight is a different can of worms with the additional dilemma of that no large hardware failures can occur. Rockets fail a lot, people dying is bad for PR, and thus you need a really good reason to send a person. The thing then is what do you do with people in space that makes enough money to warrant it? Basically nothing. Thus the lack of any human spaceflight other than research purposes.
My common response is that there are real world costs to having too much stuff, data is pretty small to keep around. You can fit a RAID 5 box with 30 TB of space in a shoebox for $15/month, that is enough to keep pretty much any content that you ever consume so that if you want anything it still exists. My parents and grandparents hoarded files and documents to no end and I have been going through some of them and there is mostly garbage but there is some real gems in the rough. Willingly disposing of the internet through our own negligence is something I don't advocate for because there is some sort of value preserved in what we save for the next generation.
I think the main thing I always see with posts like these are that they always say what could be done but with no plan or process to do any of it. The problem with microbots seems to be a similar problem to spaceflight currently: we can make it and its possible but no current commercial opportunities exist to push the technology past the "we can do it" stage.
As someone in college who has had their classes recorded and posted online, I still go to class because its dedicated time to my brain. There is nothing else I should be doing other than being in class.
The people who don't show up would have not showed up class recorded or not. It is very useful though when you have a morning class miss or be dead tired and not pay attention to re-watch the lecture to get a better understanding.
I read it as:
>I turned off automatic updates after I was waking up in the morning to a ton of lost work more than once a week as a result of automatic updates.
He would go to sleep with his computer left on daily. At least a week it would have restarted on him having expected that the computer would have stayed in the same state that he left it. Not that he would go a whole week without saving his work.
Cody took down that video and a lot of his other ones when YouTube got really trigger happy about flagging explosive context or anything vaguely not advertising friendly due to King of Random. That was one of the videos he took down but he did mention it in others. I cant find the video where he talked about the video takedowns sadly.
The changes to infrastructure can eventually be carbon positive or at least carbon neutral with improved quality of life. Properly designed cities have less energy consumption and co2 per capita because of economies of scale. Consolidating people encourages that behavior.
As compared to 30 years ago. if you follow the graph on the article that I assume you are referring to that was on the front page a few weeks ago, the number of sexual partners in the 1900s was 2-3. Its predicted that number of sexual partners will be 8 for this generation compared to last generations 9. Not a big jump in my perview.
