Hellenion··on Meet Piper: your first bitcoin paper wallet printer
That'd be my second: http://www.ollydbg.de/Paperbak/index.html

Hellenion··on Show HN: Fail it Forward – you fail so others don't have to
The site fails to load without javascript.

Hellenion··on The origin of zero-based array indexing
And why would it be so bad to have a programmer's mythology? Sure it isn't factual history but it lets us explain the world we see around us in a memorable and understandable way.
Hellenion··on Real Men Go to Sleep
With javascript disabled, I am only locked out when the author didn't intend to do so.
Hellenion··on My Roommate's a Genius
The page source is still readable if you need a quick fix, unlike most other "requires javascript" sites.
Hellenion··on Dutch intelligence agency AIVD hacks internet forums
The NOS reported that at least four important political parties are outraged and want an investigation on the issue. In my opinion this is better than the american government's response.

I believe the Dutch are not being screwed by their government, but simply by inadequate control on its intelligence agencies. The government can fix this.

Hellenion··on The Grammar Book for Programmers, Designers, & Bloggers
So is this American English or British English?
Hellenion··on Show HN: My new project - ask.io
I think this is omitted in spirit of the slow web.

... Are you saying we should buy YouTube?
Hellenion··on Nonplussed
And apperantly Win8 too.
Hellenion··on Nonplussed
I have liked a lot of things as thank-you or acknoledgement to the author. If I want to make something known, if I want to spread the word, I clicked the "share" button, that was its purpouse.
Hellenion··on List of mathematical symbols
This has been one of my favourite wikipedia pages for a long time. It's a shame that it's so hard to search through.
Hellenion··on Why I won't get a Google+ Custom URL
Where can I read more about this seemingly magical era? I'm so young that it sounds like a faerietale.
Hellenion··on In CSS, “px” is not an angular measurement and it is not non-linear
The reason the standards don't speak of 2D euclidean geometry is because they (Very sensibly, IMO) left room for yet unknown devices that might not fit that description but still are able to conform.
Hellenion··on Flying insect-like robot Gimball can crash and recover
Flies have an exoskeleton which, unlike the quadcopters of our engineers, have many flexible parts. This is much like the cage only in a very different configuration. I don't know about the wings in particular, but I can imagine they are more flexible than brittle and may even be capable of growing scar tissue.
Hellenion··on 'W' Considered Harmful
What's more is that 'W' (and 'M') mess up every compact monospaced font.
Hellenion··on Announcing The Dark Mail Alliance – Founded by Silent Circle and Lavabit
How about just "Mill"? It'll maybe help differentiate it from regular (e-)mail, but it still sounds similar.
Hellenion··on [dead]
I'm confused.
Hellenion··on The kilo is losing weight, changing all of science
"I'm not getting heavier, the kilo is getting lighter!"
Hellenion··on Uptime Robot
I read through startssl's ToS a while back but I'm pretty sure this wasn't in there. Has their policy changed or did I miss something?
Hellenion··on Microsoft blames Google and makes 'adjustments' to IE11 on Windows 8.1
Cookies and javascript, that is.
Hellenion··on The Workman Keyboard Layout
Take a look at programmer's dvorak [1]. It treats numbers as second class citizens in favour of symbols. It comes pre-installed on some linux distros, but it won't solve your querty problem.

Hellenion··on Show HN: Linux activity recorder
SeaLion works best with the latest web browsers.

It's even worse without JS, yet I'm still running a webkit browser. Please don't discriminate against unknown browsers.

Hellenion··on Hard drive hack provides root access, even after reinstall
That's an interesting way of looking at "parasitic" programs. Maybe we could even get those parasites to work for us, like trapping them as the house pen-tester. You could employ the constant barrage of attempted ssh logins as remote connectivity check or something.
Hellenion··on Americans Thought They Smelled Fine Until Marketers Convinced Them Otherwise
> What makes you think the smell of sweating bodies can't be hardwired to smell unpleasant?

Because smells are not hardwired [1], we are nurtured into being distasteful of the scent of sweat. One nice example of this that I like is that you can find infants happily playing in faeces without being disgusted by it, it doesn't bother them the sligthest.

Hellenion··on Senators spar over definition of ‘journalist’ in seeking to protect them
It seems to me that some might actually believe that WikiLeaks are not reporters, even after failing to formulate differences. And even if this is accepted, WikiLeaks can probably find a way to "pay" a reporter that needs protection.
Hellenion··on David Cameron cracks down on online pornography
I couldn't find the HN entry, but a quick stroll around the web brought me this: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2009-12/uom-ate120109...
