HIPisTheAnswer··on A DMT trip 'feels like dying' – and scientists now agree
Darwinism is the least likely explanation of evolution. Randomness? Take a look at how some species evolved in parallel to similar organisms; one was extremely unlikely, two or more is impossible. Darwin was quite foolish, but he had friends in the right places. Just another flat-earth belief.

As for the DMT, there's only one way to find out. One grain of pure DMT in a pipe and get your answers.

HIPisTheAnswer··on Quantum Computing and Cryptography
Perpetual motion machines. We heard it before. Controlled fusion, free energy, bla bla bla, bullshit, more bullshit, and a bit mor bullshit. Ohh look! The Santa Claus !

Easiest question in the world: monopoly (goes under the name 'intellectual property.)

HIPisTheAnswer··on Is the Second Farm Crisis Upon Us?
> I wouldn't worry about this one -- unless foreign investors have a means to enforce physical security of their ownership claims, there's always the option of the government with control over the physical assets to expropriate them

That isn't a good scenario. Foreign? There were no white men in america, no black men either, so everyone is a foreigner, and the natives should expropriate them all? Dangerous ideas. That's how a war turns into a nightmare.

HIPisTheAnswer··on Is the Second Farm Crisis Upon Us?
Exactly, we are eating oil and gas. Once the spigot slows down, things get ugly real fast. This is going to make the great depression and ww2 look small in comparison. Buckle your seat belt, and grow unusual edible species. I don't even eat grains, humans aren't equipped to eat that.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Is the Second Farm Crisis Upon Us?
All of the massive 'at scale' operations are going to turn into dust bowls. 'Small operations' will mean those people do not starve to death. Vegetable prices will make gold look cheap. Grow food anywhere you can, we all have to become farmers now to avoid a very bad situation, where the only thing to eat is other people.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Is the Second Farm Crisis Upon Us?
Not quite; the greatest crisis humanity has ever faced is upon us. Trickles down into farming, and everything else. We are just getting started.
HIPisTheAnswer··on We’re Measuring the Economy All Wrong
Typo: debt without a debtor.
HIPisTheAnswer··on We’re Measuring the Economy All Wrong
Yep. All public property and govt granted leases forego capital depreciation. Since most of the planet falls in this category, it is being plundered while only accounting for the sale of the bounty, without considering the loss of real capital (old forest, clean river/ocean/lake, etc). And a dollar/franc/baht/pound is a mass measure unit of gold. And a BTC is debt (promise of future computation) without a creditor, which ultimately means it is worth nothing, when the price forbids the ponzi from going on.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Cycling Is Key to Safer, Healthier, More Vital Cities
Emitting toxic gases into the atmosphere is a crime against others. Therefore, using (most) internal combustion engines is a crime. We have a lot of criminals today.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Ask HN: Which book(s) did you read this summer?
The 'Dune' series by F.Herbert, and continuation by his son. God emperor of dune is definitely worth reading up to.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Google throws away 12 years of work by investors (Portfolios in Google Finance)
For now, but soon our markets will be run completely p2p, and order books will be shared with whoever wants to see them for really cheap. And no breakage. Like I said before: this is good, the more saas are disrupted, the more we can focus on a real distributed OS.

HIPisTheAnswer··on $250 Trillion in Debt: The World’s Post-Lehman Legacy
Using 150k tonnes of above ground gold, if all of it was minted into currency, would equal +- 100M dollars. Probably not more than 10% is minted currency coins - .999 isn't for currency use. So there is about 10M dollars in existence.
HIPisTheAnswer··on EU approves internet copyright law, including ‘link tax’ and ‘upload filter’
> The only thing this will do is entrench massive players like Google and Facebook

Incorrect.

It will also speed up development of a new web which is impossible to regulate. So I rejoice. When they block entire services for days, I cry in joy. A 10 days blackout is what we need...

HIPisTheAnswer··on Federal chokehold on marijuana stymies studies on epilepsy, autism
A society's diet dictates its form. We are to consume ethanol, caffeine, nicotine, and sugar, for those will create a manipulatable non-questionning society.
HIPisTheAnswer··on Federal chokehold on marijuana stymies studies on epilepsy, autism
Not at all.

There's only one good reason; Psychedelics make people question their existence and therefore, their social situation as well. The dictators don't like that.

Non-psychedelic drugs like opiates are banned to keep people in the mountains from defending their lands using opium money. I know, iv seen it done.

HIPisTheAnswer··on We Can Stop Pretending LTE-M Is a Low-Power WAN

HIPisTheAnswer··on The mysterious case of missing URLs and Google's AMP
Doesn't bother me. IPFS makes AMP obsolete.
HIPisTheAnswer··on The mysterious case of missing URLs and Google's AMP
Ahahahahah!

A monopoly, or cartel, is a business that keeps competitors from entering the fray.

Please go on the street corner with your WLAN and portable server to offer search/CDN and whatever, and you'll quickly attract government thugs who will shut you down for lack of permission from the monopoly bureau (Govt regulation). So Yes it is a big, fat, and really fucking juicy monopoly. That's what govts and big corps all are, a big bunch of fascists handing each other 'licences' stipulating their exclusive self-granted right to do x or z.

HIPisTheAnswer··on Chemists discover how blue light speeds blindness
This is a huge problem. Neon light everywhere. I go out at night with sunglasses. The world is littered with light polluting salvages. That and combustion engines. I used to drive one. I used to behave criminally too. Light, sound, air pollution are real crimes. The world is littered with criminal brutes; anyone who uses bright neons, churns a combustion engine, or plays the stereo loudly. Soon the little people will be angry at the 'rich bastards who burn gas with their machines or waste power on overly bright aggressive lights'. Average person will then only afford a handful of KWh per month, and my life will be better. I wont stop any crowd from hanging gas/naphta burners or smashing neons tubes.
HIPisTheAnswer··on The Market Is Poised For Catastrophic Losses (Part 1)
There are no courts if law in our time. Theyll soon come back on the dark web I hope.
HIPisTheAnswer··on The Market Is Poised For Catastrophic Losses (Part 1)
Shorting isnt a good idea either since all the counterparties to those contracts will be insolvent. Buy lead, gasoline, gold and seeds. Collect rainwater and plant food. That s how bad its going to be this time. 1929 was childs play in comparison.
HIPisTheAnswer··on The Market Is Poised For Catastrophic Losses (Part 1)
Because the fed isnt in control. They just made enough people feel like they were, whih creates a feedback loop. Just look at how the BOJ lost control of their rate curve, and now trillions of long bonds with a zero yield (only potential financial loss) are held by all their major banks... Its an avalanche in the waiting. Can you borrow for 0%?? So the fed doesnt control credit that much after all.
HIPisTheAnswer··on The Market Is Poised For Catastrophic Losses (Part 1)
Yea and dont forget that 'limited liability' is illegitimate, hence equity can go below zero in case of lawsuits. This will eventually be recognized, then watch the stampede out of equity markets.
HIPisTheAnswer··on France bans smartphone use in schools
So the smart ones have to suffer for the students that dont want to learn; so lets just force them to not use tools to learn more efficiently. Hammer the nail that sticks out. We shall all be equally ignorant. Viva el socialismo!
HIPisTheAnswer··on France bans smartphone use in schools
No teachers ever taught me as fast as a computer can today. State school are an anachronism.
