Guestmodinfo··on Gen Z protests in India demanding resignation of Education Minister
No. But it would be interesting to see in the coming days if the crowds would swell up or ebb down. Because the govt will not accept the resignation of its minister it seems.

Guestmodinfo··on America Changed Me and Europe Was Wrong [video]
'emigrated to'.

Sorry for correcting grammar. But being from one of the previous colonies, one desires to be a master of English and help others also to master it.

We emigrate to a country from our own country.

And other people immigrate into our country from some outside country.

Guestmodinfo··on The fine print that follows you out the door: non-compete clauses are spreading
You don't need money to live a principled life. Change your life lens. Seek the truth, change the company. There are several places that don't ask you to compromise your morals or principles. Be in touch with principled people, learn from them. I never care about money and so I never have it but I have never been found wanting when I need it. God will make it happen. No worries.
Guestmodinfo··on Open Source Low Tech
Also lots and lots of manufacturing and repair work is like kept secret from the common people or at least that is the general vibe. So I'm happy for this initiative.
Guestmodinfo··on KaOS: The first Linux distro to ship dinit, Noctalia v5 without systemd and KDE
Didn't Antix Linux beat KaOS by already shipping dinit before them. I'm an Antix Linux fanboy and I know that they were working on dinit like 2025 November? My memory may fail me but they were working on dinit in 2025 then this year Antix released 26 in March while KaOS has done it in June this year. But yes I like that KaOS is rolling release and I do want to try it
Guestmodinfo··on Whole cross-sectional human ultrasound tomography
MRI is done using X rays which have very very small wavelength compared to sound. And resolution of images i.e. less blurry varies inversely proportional to the wavelength. Yes some algo can make slightly better but I am certain that nothing can beat x rays in clarity for humans
Guestmodinfo··on Whole cross-sectional human ultrasound tomography
I really wanted to make a career in tomography. But had only one elective from another department and didn't know how to make it into this stream.

Guestmodinfo··on Tribblix: The retro Illumos distribution
It is comparable to slackware as I says on the website and for many yas i have wanted to use slackware. So i want to install it on my pentium laptop that I got in 2020. I want to run zoom on it with screen sharing. Can I do that? I can use antix linux on that laptop frthe same purpose.
Guestmodinfo··on Ask HN: Are other OS maintainers being spammed with Security Vulnerabilities?

Guestmodinfo··on Building from zero after addiction, prison, and a felony
Same here, I too feel the same. I don't look as if I am neuro divergent but I am slightly and have radar for others and have begun to tell people, "that person is not late or slow in the mind but that person is simply a neuro divergent and needs to be given chance or looked at differently" lot of neuro divergents have been discriminated against in the past. My one professor used to ask me, "Are you on drugs". No I never have. It's just lack of sleep in college days can otherwise make my lucid brain super foggy

Guestmodinfo··on Are India's GDP figures OK after all?
The article is paywalled so I couldn't read. But my observation as an Indian is that for a few the salaries have sky rocketed. But for most income has declined or is stagnant and combined with inflation there is certainly a dampener on financial freedom. The govt never gives us lucid figures as to how the economy is growing and how much govt funds and effort of govt agencies (India is run by various govt agencies masquerading as business corporations) are diverted to the intense enrichment of the top 100 super rich. A very ironic Indian scenario is that the national census that is going on they ask what company broadband service I use, which company tv I have I have what is my fone number. What is my religion. And the names of my family members. They ask all kinds of privacy defeating questions. But they never ask any health related issue. If my family is suffering from any health or financial distress. Even our census is an excercise in snooping on citizens but the action points that the govt could take those are absent like: 1. Have you been harassed by any govt official (I have not been recently) 2. How do you look at sanitation in your area (it's fine in my area) 3. Do stray dogs pose danger to you (Yes Yes Yes all the way. They are often in packs of 4-8 dogs and are very aggressive especially to women and children and to people walking alone. Walking alone in India is lost due to stray dogs in residential areas) 4. Is your family in health distress? 5. Is your family going through financial distress in the past 2 years? 6. How do you perceive corruption in India? 7. How do you perceive competency in govt agencies and programs? 8. What's your take on pollution. 9. Any thing that you want to suggest to change in India?
Guestmodinfo··on Meteor Explodes over Massachusetts
You are correct in class 9 physics book in India we have a mention of supersonic planes producing a sonic "boom" so the suprsonic planes don't themselves explode but their fast movement makes the air produce the boom. So you were correct as far as I can tell. But meteors do get smaller and smaller due to extreme friction from air and they do break into several pieces so that can also add to the sound.

Is Fast Mail having human support? Suppose I forget my password or suppose fastmail somehow bans my account then is there a readily available human on the other end whom I can message or talk to. Recently on HN someone posted about a school which lost its 10 years of Google apps data and account with no possible recourse.
Guestmodinfo··on Ask HN: Non-profit school possibly hacked, locked out of Google Workspace.
Sorry for not offering any solution but for the future the adage that I learnt while working in a bank in India is, "Online means double work, i.e. don't stop making hard copies of each and everything you do online"
Guestmodinfo··on I tracked London housing data: We are staying in our homes for 10 years
The title is misplaced. The author measured the data only for the resold houses between 2015-2026 and also the emphasis on the word RESOLD. The author cannot generalize the trend for EVERYONE as the title suggests. Because everyone else is happily or sadly living in their own homes for much longer. Only the people who are have bought in this time period have also sold their houses within this time period. What about the people who bought their houses in 2013? Are they still living there or they have sold off and how long did it take for them to sell off? So the author cannot generalize. The author should have made the title as: "Within the 11 year time duration, on an average people stay in their newly bought houses for ten years".
Guestmodinfo··on Ask HN: How did you find PMF?
I often think about it. My very very limited experience and exposure tells me people as a group behave insanely. They follow other insane people ravishingly but if you tell them as a group some common sense solution then they will shoot it down or are simply unbothered by it. So maybe just do your thing i.e. throw lot of darts and see what sticks or according to me figure out less sane people who are in attractive popularising positions and persuade them to popularize your product. A famous character artist in India said that most actors in India are heavily insane because the drive that's needed to succeed in the film buisness where the odds are always stacked against you, there only the less sane only have the ample drive to keep trying incessantly. So do search for such kind of influential ppl and you may hit jackpot.
Guestmodinfo··on Childhood Computing
You seem to be writing about me :) I also lived a very similar childhood. Class 10 computer science Board paper I prepared using pen and paper computing only. The only difference is that I had BASIC, instead of LOGO. Another difference is that I was not in an industrial town. Since sometimes you write in your posts about growing up in a small industrial town. I have a hunch you grew up in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand state.
Guestmodinfo··on The quadratic sandwich
We studied it in our peparation for college entrance exams in India. Though the detail the article goes in is exhaustive. But I thought that this maybe common or almost common knowledge. We used to call it sandwich theorem
Guestmodinfo··on The spread of Christianity, from antiquity until today, on an animated map
It is not fully correct because St Thomas, who was one of the twelve disciples landed in India and martyred here in India and that's why we have A large autonomous branch, known as the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church (or Indian Orthodox Church), tracing its roots to St. Thomas the Apostle and has its headquarters in Kottayam, Kerala. We in India just call it Syrian Orthodox church. That part is not shown in the video.

Guestmodinfo··on OpenBSD 7.9
I have used OpenBSD as a desktop for 7 years. Though my usage and the machine were minimal. But I thoroughly liked it. I want to go back to it. One good thing is that if your hardware has some problems or about to have problems then installing OpenBSD will make your computer kernel panic. So I use it as a diagnosing tool for my hardware
Guestmodinfo··on OpenBSD 7.9
Yes free from American restrictions. Because America law prohibits from giving out cryptography to outside countries so according to OpenBSD we outsiders have no luck in getting a cryptographically secure operating system except for OpenBSD
