Govindae··on It looks like the state of California is bailing out Tesla
Here's the evidence behind the claim that California's EV subsidy is a Tesla bailout.

>In California, the largest EV market in the US, 2.7% of new vehicles sold in the first quarter were EVs, up from 0.4% in 2012, according to the California New Dealers Association. California is Tesla’s largest market. Something big needs to be done to help the Bay Area company, which has lost money every single year of its ten years of existence.

Certainly not a complete picture. More of an unfinished amaetur impressionist water color.

But something along the lines of the dynamics seen in reaction diffusion systems.

Once you have a "metabolism" where interacting chemicals produce one another, you have a system that can sustain itself on it's reactants.

In a mess of random reactions, order will emerge through feedback effects, chemicals that are used up are used up, those that are replenished will increase in concentration.

Various regions will have different ratios, and different impurities giving a landscape in which versions of the metabolism may specialize or interact. ... Some regions produce molecules that self assemble into things like walls and membranes. ... RNA, likely around as a component the whole time, at some point it is specialized into an information medium role.

Stir continuously, simmer for 1-billion years or until it photosynthesizes.

Why are you certain that _self_ replication would be a necessary condition for "life-ish" chemistry to start happening, and to start evolving?

I expect chemical metabolisms pre-dated organisms, and purely metabolism based replicators pre-dated stored instruction replicators.

The naive way to do calculus. Use secants to approximate the tangent. I think it's called finite difference.

Am I understanding this correctly? The layers do not combine their inputs. Equation (2)

x_l = H_l([x_0, x_1, . . . , x_l−1])

Could be re-written: x_l = [H_l(x_0), H_l(x_1), . . . , H_l(x_l−1)]

>Maybe there is a serious novel idea, but I've missed it.

I don't know if learned models are novel, but they certainly aren't vanilla MPC. (In my quick scan of them, only second paper mentions learning models)

Gravitational interactions become stronger with decreasing distance.

Take the Newtonian gravity model, if force is proportional to 1/distance^2, as distance approaches zero, the force approaches infinity.

You can simplify all points in a region as being one point for points that are far away, but that doesn't help with the infinite force problem with close points.

It's probably going to tend to collect on the heliopause, but there's a lot of surface area there.

And it's a pretty long ride out.

You say that like it's not going to be the next unicorn. You just LOCKER your stuff. We use machine learning AI to process an snapshot and dispatch an appropriately sized box via a car sharing service, the driver packs up your shit, and delivers it to a LOCKER storage contractor. All on the blockchain.
Govindae··on Filecoin: A Decentralized Storage Network [pdf]
Storage rental is a concept that most people are familiar with. Extending that from physical objects to data isn't a very big step. Of course, storage facilities probably have some regulations to comply with that you won't be following.
