GlacierFox··on European Alternatives
Well they're not friendly then are they? It's an act to get a tip - and if you don't you get chased down the street.
GlacierFox··on Porsche sold more electrified cars in Europe in 2025 than pure gas-powered cars
EV cars are mostly just appliances now. Not sure how the prestigious Porsche badge (or any other really) can stand out into the future.
GlacierFox··on Earth is warming faster. Scientists are closing in on why (2024)
Are they? I thought you couldn't delete your comments on here?
GlacierFox··on Roam 50GB is now Roam 100GB
Wait until you hear about what the early pioneers of the electronic device you're using right now used to think... And do.

You gonna throw your computer away?

GlacierFox··on Terra - A rolling-release Fedora repository
This is why my current version is always (Fedora Latest - 1)
GlacierFox··on Creators of Tailwind laid off 75% of their engineering team
May I pull you aside and suggest you take a few breaths yourself? If you're finding typing half a sentence on a keyboard taxing, perhaps consider getting some support.

This is put forward with all the humbleness.

GlacierFox··on Eat Real Food
No one's insulting anyone. Put your clothes back on.
GlacierFox··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
I had no idea there was no kernel support for containers. I use containers a lot now but haven't used MacOS in years. Thanks for the info. (Fedora/ Windows user myself)
GlacierFox··on AI is a business model stress test
So this logic is essentially: Look at all these ways you're already getting ripped off. What's one more?! You should be grateful they're siphoning off all your work!

You've got a convert here. I don't think I'll publish my next book. I might just email it straight to Open AI.

And Cory Doctorow - I've attempted a few of his books. Felt like I was reading young adult fiction. He's pretty much the '2 prescient statements and a few average books' guy.

GlacierFox··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
Has apple severely degraded the developer experience on MacOS recently or something?
GlacierFox··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
Keep an eye on the Graphite vecor app that's in development. It's Linux native I think.
GlacierFox··on I dumped Windows 11 for Linux, and you should too
I take it you just read the first sentence and darted to the reply button...
GlacierFox··on Eat Real Food
Thanks for the tip. Just re-read it. Didn't have same effect. Anything else?
GlacierFox··on Eat Real Food
Well done. This might be one of the most childish comment I've read all day.

This give off an air of virtue signalling to the extend of self destruction. Almost funny thinking about it.

GlacierFox··on Creators of Tailwind laid off 75% of their engineering team
I'll be sure to avoid you during a time of crisis...
GlacierFox··on The unbearable joy of sitting alone in a café
What's this hell hole you live in where you can't read a book in a cafe without the world collapsing around you?
GlacierFox··on Stranger Things creator says turn off “garbage” settings
What do you mean? Like you can't hear the spoken dialogue?
GlacierFox··on Thomas Piketty: 'The reality is the US is losing control of the world'
100%. They should just step aside and let all those theocratic shit holes arm them selves with more nuclear weapons and wipe each other out. Problem sorted.

Of course you might get a bit of radioactive dust blow over the sea for a few hundred years but totally worth it.

GlacierFox··on Apple has locked my Apple ID, and I have no recourse. A plea for help
Utterly perplexing you've backed off with a scathing 'Sorry, I can't engage' after literally contracting yourself plain as day a few comments up.

I think you can't understand his analogy no? Without taking it literally to the point of making it your entire life's purpose to counter the point?

How about this: You have a 1 in 100,000 chance of eating an M&M which literally drains your bank account and you have to eat hundreds or possibly thousands of M&M's per day.

(some of your dreaded hyperbole for transactions)

Would you dig in to that bowl? There's shouldn't be a miniscule percentage chance of your entire livelyhood being ripped away and locked forever without recourse simply by using a certain payment platform. Is that fair? Or are you still intent on stepping on the cosmic merrigoround of potential ruin without a care in the world?

He still does offer them for free as far as I know. Perhaps not his most recent ones.
GlacierFox··on Stoolap: High-performance embedded SQL database in pure Rust

GlacierFox··on 1GB Raspberry Pi 5, and memory-driven price rises
These scenarios end up being testers to see what people will pay. If people are buying your product at a ridiculous price, why drop it?
GlacierFox··on I don't care how well your "AI" works
Are we living on the same planet?
GlacierFox··on Researchers discover security vulnerability in WhatsApp
State an open source alternative so I can explain to you why the masses think it's crap.
GlacierFox··on Obsidian Note Codes
This has inspired me to literally build an exact copy of this but use a GUID instead and also not confusingly tie it to the file name. Such weird choice made with this...
GlacierFox··on Slack has raised our charges by $195k per year
Please say you work at Slack and haven't just typed this almost certain time line of events off the top of you head?
GlacierFox··on Nuclear: Desktop music player focused on streaming from free sources
I've copied your sensitive product source code before leaving for lunch then released it to the public for free. Why are you mad? We all die eventually...
GlacierFox··on Kazeta: An operating system that brings the console gaming experience of 90s
I have fond memories of looking at all my GameBoy Advance games stacked up on the shelf as a kid now and then. The idea that there's a little world in each individual one I can dive in to brought great joy. I totally get you. Sure there were custom carts back then to stuff 100 games into one cart but I didnt ever feel like getting one even back then, sucked a little of the joy out of it for me.
GlacierFox··on Ask HN: The government of my country blocked VPN access. What should I use?
You know what, I think I've become lethargic after all the backwards garbage going on in my country attacking my way of life on all fronts - from rampant crime to government censorship. Your comment just gave me a kick up the ass. I'm gonna try and get some local stuff going in opposition to this lunacy.
