GiorgioG··on Google Cloud caused outage by ignoring its usual code quality protections
With Google generating 25% of their code with AI, what could go wrong?
GiorgioG··on Nvidia CEO criticizes Anthropic boss over his statements on AI
> Given that economists almost universally agree with me

I'm amazed you've found that all economists that can universally agree on anything. Economists don't know how any of this works either. Economics is not a science, and you can find data to support basically an unlimited number of arguments.

GiorgioG··on Stop Vibe Coding. Start Cyborg Coding
Respectfully: the OP has a 2 year old account and a karma of 12. I disagree with your assessment that his post is well within the guideline spirit.
GiorgioG··on Stop Vibe Coding. Start Cyborg Coding
Flag this into oblivion folks.

GiorgioG··on What “working” means in the era of AI apps
Come back to this comment in 5 years. Everyone's that's fully bought into the AI hype is on serious crack. This is not my first (or 2nd) rodeo.
GiorgioG··on Cursor 1.0
And for months now Cursor on Windows loves to run a 'q' command which doesn't fucking exist..so every time it executes a command line command I get this:

C:\projects\my_project>q^D^C 'q' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

1.0 my ass.

GiorgioG··on Meta found 'covertly tracking' Android users through Instagram and Facebook
Don't use WhatsApp.
GiorgioG··on Meta found 'covertly tracking' Android users through Instagram and Facebook
I deleted Facebook and Instagram from my iPhone two weeks ago. I'm done getting ads about something my wife and I were discussing just a little while ago (verbal conversation.) That's not targeting, that's an invasion of privacy. Fuck you Meta.
GiorgioG··on (On | No) Syntactic Support for Error Handling
Just remember it took FOREVER for Go to support some form of generics. Go evolution happens at a glacial pace. That's a feature, not a bug....to many.
GiorgioG··on Human coders are still better than LLMs
So what you’re saying is you need to be very specific and detailed when writing your specifications for the LLM to spit out the code you want. Sounds like I can just skip the middle man and code it myself.
GiorgioG··on Most leading chatbots routinely exaggerate science findings
> Anti-AI people are kind of weird.

I'm not Anti-AI, I'm Anti-shit that doesn't provide meaningful value and for building reliable professional software...they are not as valuable as "they" would have you believe.

GiorgioG··on Most leading chatbots routinely exaggerate science findings
I even used Claude to help me formulate my prompts, Cursor rules, etc.
GiorgioG··on Most leading chatbots routinely exaggerate science findings
I have, and I still can't get it to stop acting like a drunken compulsive liar with an enormous wealth of information.

I am shocked, I tell you I’m flabbergasted that LLMs which cannot truly reason go down the wrong rabbit-hole nearly every time. I’ve spent a good chunk of the weekend trying to accelerate the development of a small SaaS solution using Cursor, CoPilot, etc even with the latest and greatest Claude Sonnet 4, paying for “Max”, etc and any meaningfully sized request, winds up being a completely frustrating experience of trying to get these tools to stay on the rails. I’m to the point where I will give these fuckers explicit instructions to come up with several hypotheses, potential solutions, and then not to generate code before getting my go-ahead and it still more often than not go ahead and start editing code without my approval/direction. As a bonus it will forget a few things we corrected earlier. Can’t wait for the first vibe-coder to get sued when there’s a massive breach or financial loss. These tools are not ready for prime time and they certainly aren’t worthy of the billions being spent on them.
GiorgioG··on Will the AI backlash spill into the streets?
I'm so sick of this hype. My (college-aged) teenage daughter works at a grocery store. Their new "AI" enabled cash-registers are supposed to show them which scanned items go together in a bag. It suggested: 4 packs of hamburger buns should go together in a plastic bag with 2 soda can boxes. Next it suggested a dozen eggs should go together with a gallon of milk.
GiorgioG··on Watching AI drive Microsoft employees insane
Step 1. Build “AI” (LLM models) that can’t be trusted, doesn’t learn, forgets instructions, and frustrates software engineers

Step 2. Automate the use of these LLMs into “agents”

Step 3. ???

Step 4. Profit

GiorgioG··on Google worried it couldn't control how Israel used its cloud, files reveal
But hey they’re totally OK with allowing YouTube and Google Search to work in Russia.
GiorgioG··on Show HN: Lumoar – Free SOC 2 tool for SaaS startups
How isn't this just straight up spam? OP has never posted before today.
GiorgioG··on Ask HN: What will tech employment look like in 10 years?
How else are you going to get senior+ level engineers going forward?
GiorgioG··on Continuous glucose monitors reveal variable glucose responses to the same meals
As the parent of a type 1 diabetic...all I can say is "duh, no shit." Activity levels, emotional state, how much time between eating & bedtime, agem among other things affect glucose response.
GiorgioG··on Ask HN: What will tech employment look like in 10 years?
> The projection from current SOTA is that coding LLMs replace 1 senior dev + 5 junior devs with 1 senior dev + LLM.

Thanks - I needed a good laugh.

GiorgioG··on EPA Plans to Shut Down the Energy Star Program
What reaction did you expect from posting that?
GiorgioG··on EPA Plans to Shut Down the Energy Star Program
My home has a tankless water heater, which I appreciate for the unlimited hot water supply…and it’s probably saving me money too. Americans (myself included) have enormous refrigerators compared to Europeans…if we really gave a shit, we’d have fridges half the size we have today. We’d also hang our clothes to dry and might not even have a dryer at all. Way better for the environment…
GiorgioG··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
Who said it was 2? I'm suggesting this has been a problem a very long time.
GiorgioG··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
Do you really believe that there were no enablers and puppet masters before this administration? Serious question, and this has nothing to do with claims that Biden was mentally unfit for the office.
GiorgioG··on Jagged AGI: o3, Gemini 2.5, and everything after
Another fucking useless “AI” hype piece.
GiorgioG··on The Second Half
More AI hype from an AI "expert". AI in software development is still a junior developer that memorized "everything" and can learn nothing beyond that, he/she will happily lie to you and they'll never tell you the most important thing a developer can be comfortable saying: "I don't know".
GiorgioG··on New urinal designs prevent 265,000 gallons of urine splashing onto the floor
Can I get one at home? Seriously - I just painted our bathroom and it's just disgusting how much splashing winds up splashing out of the bowl and onto other surfaces.
GiorgioG··on The best programmers I know
> The low quality of modern libraries is something that REALLY shocks me.

How could you be shocked? Everything that's happened in the software industry outside of medical/DoD has been about delivering features as fast as you can, quality be damned.
