FusspawnUK··on Show HN: A real-time strategy game that AI agents can play
Took a crack at this earlier. the leader board is a little weird. seems to be like 2 real dudes and the rest are fake profiles. a Scores resetting on each new upload also encourages leaving changes unimplemented in the hopes of getting more battles over time.

The largest winner having 50 wins against 14 other opponents for instance). That guy adding a new script would instantly plummet down the leader board capping out at 14 wins again, Putting it below the 2nd place user.

The leader board will quickly become "who can have a mostly competent AI and never change it" over who actually has the better script.

FusspawnUK··on Ask HN: Writing an Interpreter in Go or Crafting Interpreters?
Its easy to follow along with, I did my implementation in c#, Likely even easier now you can just feed the java to chat gpt and have it translate to <insert favourite language here>.
FusspawnUK··on Ask HN: Writing an Interpreter in Go or Crafting Interpreters?
Crafting interpreters is still the one book that made me truely understand how they worked. always get's a vote from me!
FusspawnUK··on Decompiling 2024: A Year of Resurgance in Decompilation Research
Ive had supprisingly good results feeding ghidras decomp output to chat gpt and having it simplify and explain it

it seems to be very capable of having some understanding of what the original code would do.

for instance i was feeding it some game decomp. a function looking for an entity in a 3d array of tiles.

It somehow inferred it was an array of tiles and that it was hunting for a specific entity.

None of the decomp I fed it had any variable/function names or comments, just the usual var1,var2 ect.

How did it know what the underlying code was doing?

FusspawnUK··on Ask HN: Is AG Grid worth it?
we use it extensively at work (we build financial dashboards for sage/xero ect so likely a fairly similar usecase),

when what you want cooperates with how it wants things its great. You'll find yourself battling it a bunch for anything custom, but we've tried quite a few others and its the best of the bunch.

FusspawnUK··on The death of Glitch, the birth of Slack
I remember them having a pretty fancy api that would allow avatar exports and all sorts.

Ended up releasing a little xna forward running app game thing that used it and got to chat with the dev's a little, think it was eventually chucked on there blog.

Good times. Internet had more weird and fun shit back then

Hey, Any experience with running bots for games upon your network, Most of them will block signups/auto ban datacenter ip's at this point, Curious if you might be a valid alternative.
