That's not to say a $250 Chromebook is the solution, but a $500 one (equal to the value of the laptop in the story) would be exceptional compared to any Windows experience with the same hardware.
This looks awesome though! Thank you for sharing!
We're building the tools to consume, query, and render the massive amount of data available through Moz's data pipelines using Next.js, Javascript, React, etc. I'm specifically looking for Technical Leads to join my team and work with me - but we also have openings for Senior and Mid level engineers. Even if you're just curious about what we're up to, I'd love to meet you and chat more about what you're up to!
We also have roles in our Data Engineering department... crawling the web, collecting metrics, building pipelines, and producing meaningful representations of information that we can expose to customers.

And yes - I've literally done this exact same error (with TB of video data!). Spending the following week remediating all of that data loss was a great lesson in patience and attention to detail. :-)
OP: If you're ever looking for a job be sure to send me a message. Contact info in profile.

I think the article met my expectations - though I have a pretty good understanding of how the grid is built thanks to my father in law (who worked for a natural gas plant for a while).
In either case, onwards and upwards! I'm excited to see the renewable sector continue to grow. :-)
Honestly, my family and I use airbnb pretty frequently, and I would like to think that we're considerate guests... but, maybe there's something we're missing? What makes the guests next-door to you bad ones (or great ones) ?
> Simply put, critical race theory states that U.S. social institutions (e.g., the criminal justice system, education system, labor market, housing market, and healthcare system) are laced with racism embedded in laws, regulations, rules, and procedures that lead to differential outcomes by race.

Put another way, it's allowing the possibility that systems themselves can be racist.
However, I think you will find that the definition is heavily swayed by your political bent (especially if you are a politician).

I wanted to brush up on Golang, and this was a quick/useful project for our internal infrastructure.
But that's really the problem - maintenance. Right? Once something goes wrong _for whatever reason_ the user is then (for the immediate needs) just as stuck as with a cloud provider who disabled their access.
Thankfully there is a better course of action - e.g. find someone to fix it for you. Maybe on upwork as well?
But where are you hosting this? Is it AWS? Did _they_ suspend your account? I guess my point is that unless you host on hardware in your house (or another accessible place) you're at the risk of losing access to your data for any myriad of reasons. And even then, there have been warrants where devices were collected and went into a years-long battle as evidence.
I'm sure there are similar paradigms in most industries (esp. design oriented ones) - I'd be really interested in a book or blog that explored those and talked about why it works out that way.
If anyone reading this struggles with gastroparesis I'd love to chat about diet choices that have worked for me. Contact info in my profile.

But... is anyone else growing tired of the sales-pitch we're all using? And do any of us find it valuable for ourselves when we read them? We've trained ourselves (collectively, as an industry) to expect a specific type of one-page: hero image, call-out-message with CTA, then abstract illustrations combined with text about how great something is. I don't know what I want in it's place (let's be honest, I'm clearly no marketing expert!), but what we've landed on has an incredibly bad signal:noise ratio.
Something like this: https://en-us.sennheiser.com/headphones-bluetooth-momentum-f...
I found the gobyexample site to be invaluable when I first encountered the language, and now I send people there BEFORE I send them to the official go docs (which is saying something - because the official docs are great!).
Here's hoping we can get well-structured documentation that scaffolds like these to replace most medium posts in the top results of most Google searches! :-)
There are dozens of valid uses for this beyond ad-tech. Where we use Segment it barely even touches with marketing. Most of the value for Segment is piping user lifecycle events around to every platform and service you use to help enrich customer experience. Sure, call it sales or marketing or ad-tech, but that's really just an umbrella for trying to maximize revenue-per-customer - and isn't that the point of a SAAS platform?
I think we should be cautious about throwing the terms "spyware" and "malware" around right now; there are lots of very valid cases that should be labeled as such, but if we over-use the word it just makes it harder for us to delineate between powerful tools being used for good/valid purposes or deceptive ones.
In the end I realized what I wanted was something that got out of my way and let me drive with a keyboard (and yes, was full of all the features I'd expect without needing to tweak and script). I've landed with PopOS using their tiling WM system, and I haven't looked back.
Granted, I'm saying this as yet another home-network admin who hasn't quite... ahem... gotten around to installing a DNS server. ^_^; I'm mostly sharing this here in case someone else has a similar problem and wants a solution.
