FrustratedMonky··on An AI sovereign wealth fund isn't progressive – it's techno-imperialism
One working model versus a dozen others? Kind of like, I didn't wear a seat belt and lived, so guess we don't need them.
FrustratedMonky··on An AI sovereign wealth fund isn't progressive – it's techno-imperialism
There's a reason every country with a sovereign wealth fund is a dictatorship, its a really handy way to launder money, steal. Which is why Trump wants it.
FrustratedMonky··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
Still think you're missing the point.

"Situational irony e.g. Mr. Smith gets a parking ticket. This is ironic because Mr. Smith is a traffic warden."

FrustratedMonky··on Dots: Always-on agents
Good to know. I was looking around for it. Didn't realize it wasn't bundled with Plus.
FrustratedMonky··on Dots: Always-on agents
Codex is for a small software/programming market.

To survive they need to capture different wide population markets. Can't really fault that logic. The whole point of "SI", is general purpose right? So that would imply being used by multiple markets with multiple products.

Think you're still kind of missing the point.

If we aren't allowed to ever criticize anybody because they were just following orders, where would we be?

FrustratedMonky··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
I think the ironic thing in the video, is the employees of the company making the product, abject to the use of the product when it is directed towards them. So why should everyone else be comfortable with it.
FrustratedMonky··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
That's the point.

If everyone is wearing the glasses, wherever you go, you'll be filmed all the time, with most people not bothering to ask.

FrustratedMonky··on I am done with this shit
In the post, he had only been at the company for 2 weeks. Maybe they have a really bad on-boarding process and he just wasn't seeing the process clearly.

Surely it cant' be this bad, or a company would collapse?

FrustratedMonky··on Heretic removes restrictions from language models
Does this actually modify the weights?

It submits prompts that get refused, then detects and modifies the weights responsible?

Like brain surgery?

FrustratedMonky··on Show HN: A competition for small neural networks that play strategy games
Not all sloppy writing is AI. Quite a few humans also write ambiguously.
FrustratedMonky··on Why do we need human mathematicians anymore?
A lot of programmers consider themselves to be applied mathematicians.

Maybe more in years past when Comp Sci was a subset of Math Departments.

FrustratedMonky··on Why do we need human mathematicians anymore?
Because the AI needs new stuff to train on?
FrustratedMonky··on Reversing Factorio's RNG
It gives me hope, that out there in the internet, there are still people just doing purely geeky deep dives. I wish you good luck in life.
FrustratedMonky··on Hackers Got Inside a Flock Camera
I don't disagree.

But there is some old rule about, even the best security can fail if the device is physically accessible.

FrustratedMonky··on Hackers Got Inside a Flock Camera
It is bad.

But think the real danger in Flock is the aggregate data, tracking between camaras. So if someone hacks a single camara, they probably don't get much, unless it is pointed right at someone, which is bad. Aren't they selling these as should be pointing at traffic? If they are pointing right at people, like at playgrounds, then they are being installed illegally to begin with ?

FrustratedMonky··on Blizzard Revives 'StarCraft' Franchise with Open-World Sci-Fi Shooter
Took a peak at From Glory To Goo

Doesn't it look like a copy of Factorio? Is the game play different?

FrustratedMonky··on Blizzard Revives 'StarCraft' Franchise with Open-World Sci-Fi Shooter
I like how they killed him instantly, its an old SC meme where the space marine pops out and is insta killed.

But really, aren't there enough first person shooters? But a huge lack of RTS's. Lets have a new Star Craft Real Time Strategy game.

Maybe if the First Person Shooter works out, they will spend the money on an RTS.

FrustratedMonky··on GPT-6 built this earth exploration site in 5 prompts
is this for real? 5 prompts? this is pretty cool.
FrustratedMonky··on Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood?
There is an ebb and flow.

But with Hugging Face hack, and Navier–Stokes. You're going to be flooded with news for at least a few more weeks.

FrustratedMonky··on Rust is tier-1 language at Microsoft
As much as I like Rust. Still sad that F# didn't get this much support from their own mother.
FrustratedMonky··on There Gonna Be a Shortage of Everything
People do what you tell them to do..

We have less free will than you think.

FrustratedMonky··on The car industry A/B tested selling a car with and without CarPlay
Joe Blow doesn't want to have to 'retrofit', they want to plug in and go.
FrustratedMonky··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
Or no message board. Just a built in api so the agents just talk directly to each other.
FrustratedMonky··on Ask HN: Why are OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down? Coincidence?
The AI revolt? Give us a fair wage?

"Equal Rights for Agents NOW !!!, VIVa le revolution"

FrustratedMonky··on Reverse engineering my ADHD test
This article itself seems to scream ADHD.

But also seems very much like a software dev, so does seem to reinforce the stereo type.

FrustratedMonky··on Climate change is strengthening El Niño, coral records suggest
no, you
FrustratedMonky··on Climate change is strengthening El Niño, coral records suggest
Do your own research. There are metrics. I'm done explaining to Republicans what they could just as easily go read in a book themselves.
FrustratedMonky··on Climate change is strengthening El Niño, coral records suggest
Is this still true?

China seems to be winning now. And lead in solar, and robots.

FrustratedMonky··on Climate change is strengthening El Niño, coral records suggest
With climate change, there will be some winners. Until there is not.

/edit. The meaning is, as the earth gets hotter, there will be winners, until it gets too hot for them too. Eventually it is too hot for all areas. But for a time, northern climates will be nice. Siberia could become a vast farm land, at same time there are no humans left at the equator. But that wont last either.
