Fin_Code··on Ggml.ai joins Hugging Face to ensure the long-term progress of Local AI
I still don't know why they are not running on torrent. Its the perfect use case.
Fin_Code··on Claude Code On-the-Go
They would break ownership into trusts. The caps idea has forever been dumb.
Fin_Code··on I refuse to date someone who uses ChatGPT
When dating someone you are testing their decision making and preferences. It feels like outsourcing personality and feels insincere.
Fin_Code··on Congress might block state AI laws for a decade
If this was left at the state level some elected official would say the devil is in the code and we need to ban it.
Fin_Code··on Ask HN: Cursor is productive for an hour, then burns my application down
You are working against LLM attention. A LLM looks at a conversation and focuses on its attention points. Usually the start and end. Your previous work falls into the out of attention space and gets nuked.

If your asking how to have everything attention we currently can't.

Fin_Code··on The Death of Daydreaming
You can get all the day dreaming benefits through meditation as well. 30 minutes of a small background noise like rain or something and just sit with your thoughts. Does pretty much the same thing and you can still use a device during the day.
Fin_Code··on Isaac Asimov Describes How AI Will Liberate Humans and Their Creativity (1992)
I'm just hoping it brings out an explosion of new thought and not less thought. Will likely be both.
Fin_Code··on I genuinely don't understand why some people are still bullish about LLMs
LLM interactions are more a reflection on the user than a objective technology. I'm starting to believe that people that think that LLM's are terrible are sub optimal communicators. Because their input is bad the output is.
Fin_Code··on Researchers search for more precise ways to measure pain
Pain is relative to experience and tolerance. Using patient input is inherently flawed.
Fin_Code··on Violence alters human genes for generations, researchers discover
I'm not sure why they are calling out a specific conflict. People don't have objective violence barometers. Every act of new worst violence you ever experience is the worst ever until something worse happens.
Fin_Code··on Gaining Years of Experience in a Few Months
Isn't this just saying apply more master hours faster? Its hours at the task not x time passing.
Fin_Code··on San Francisco homelessness: Park ranger helps one person at a time
I'm with you in that hope. There has been wild growth for a very long time. Realignments are painful but necessary.
Fin_Code··on Avoiding outrage fatigue while staying informed
Just view a topic on Reddit then on X. You can't be outraged both ways and it should cancel out.
Fin_Code··on Payments crisis of 2025: Not “read only” access anymore
When you pay on your mortgage the debt load shrinks
Fin_Code··on Apple denies App Store profit margin is 75% – claims to have no clue
Umm good for Apple? They produce a service that people want. 3rd parties are making loads of money off of it. Its win win all around.
Fin_Code··on Why is the American diet so deadly?
A useful analogy is the Coca plant. Chewing its leaves will give a mild stimulant and is relatively benign. But if you extract and concentrate the active ingratiate it becomes highly addictive. This is pretty much what we have done with our food.
Fin_Code··on What I learned reporting in cities that take belongings from homeless people
As with most homeless issues the problem is a hard one. You can't let them accumulate trash. These sweeps are the only practical way of dealing with the issue. Is there more humane and compassionate approaches, maybe. But storing and proving ownership of property would be difficult and fraught with issues.

As with most other social issues. If you want this compassion find a way to pay for it yourself. The city is already operating on the input of its citizens and would love for you to take the issue off their hands.

Fin_Code··on Amazon workers to strike at multiple US warehouses during busy holiday season
Keep saying that when a vacation get ruined because your connections got messed up and your out thousands of dollars.
Fin_Code··on The EdTech Revolution Has Failed
Customized skill based education should be the future.
Fin_Code··on The EdTech Revolution Has Failed
What is missing in edtech is a concept of progress and partial correctness and guess work. The primary input in edtech is multiple choice. This is selected so a person does not need to evaluate the answer making it cheaper. But leads to kids guessing. Starting a blank line to write a response is what really kicks the brain in. There is no easy way out.

We could replicate the same blank page and grayscale human response to questions. But then we have not made a cheap factory that reduces costs. Its the typical fast, good, cheap conundrum. Everyone keeps picking cheap and getting mad when it does not work.

Fin_Code··on Starship Flight 5: Launch and booster catch [video]
The current Falcon rocket always expends a stage and lands a stage. Starship will land both stages. Also Starship is far larger and in rocketry there is something called the square cube law that means bigger is better. So its far more efficient. That leads to far cheaper mass to orbit costs.
Fin_Code··on Who died and left the US $7B?
Yep step up in basis reform. Thats actually on the table under Kamala.
Fin_Code··on Tortured by regrets? A new study details how best to overcome them
Regret comes from a sense of loss or embarrassment typically. You missed a job, a partner and opportunity. You flubbed a social event, you missed a signal or you messed up at work.

Each has a strategy to deal with specifically. Typical ways are gratitude, acceptance, understanding and more. You just need to change your perspective on the event and it should minimize its impact. Extreme events excluded.

Fin_Code··on Hard work wins in business (a.k.a. it ain't just about luck)
Its both, its where perspiration meets opportunity.
Fin_Code··on Being laid off and unplanned entrepreneurship
Sent an email as well
Fin_Code··on Being laid off and unplanned entrepreneurship
I'm right at your starting point. Can basically build anything but committing to an idea is the sticking point. What product would you want to start with today?
Fin_Code··on The Age of the Drone Police Is Here
I predict the first thing this will be used for is speeding tickets and other traffic infractions
Fin_Code··on The Time I Lied to the CTO and Saved the Day
If they said they were done then the next work would be demanded with holidays cancelled. By padding they got time off.
Fin_Code··on I Spent 24 Hours with GitHub Copilot Workspaces
I'm still not sure how this is different than the vs code plugin. It seems to function in about the same way. Just uses a bit of different context reference. But that scope can easily lead to incorrect code targeting.
Fin_Code··on Anger is eliminated with the disposal of a paper written because of provocation
I think this has more to do with putting your thoughts in order but an interesting result.
