Not sure why you've been downvoted, but I think this is very much on point.
ElysianEagle··on Income inequality is not the problem, it's a symptom
If you consider the US (and other) wars/interventions of imperialism motivated by capitalism, the number easily exceeds 100 million.

As another person of Indian origin, I'd have to say that unfortunately this is true of the vast majority of Indians and not just Gujaratis.

I can't speak for SF, but for a single person at least, $125k/yr is easily doable in NYC. Sure, you won't have a spacious loft all to yourself in SoHo perhaps, but you'll get by just fine on that salary.

Now if you're talking about raising a family on a single income of that much, that's a different story...

There's also the fact that in many poor nations, there simply isn't enough of a social safety net to take care of you in your old age. The surest form of insurance is to have as many kids as you can and count on some or all of them to support you when you're no longer able to work.

With SS, Medicare (in the US), etc. even though you won't live in luxury, you at least have some kind of income coming in in your retirement years.

Removing the cap would be a boon for employers but would seriously undermine wages for software devs here, I imagine.

India and China each graduate many times more software engineers each year than does the US. Many, perhaps even most, would love to work and stay in the US.

With a massive influx of engineers in a short span of time, I can't see how wages would remain where they are now in areas like NYC and SF. This is probably exactly what the Facebooks et al want, I guess.
