DudeOpotomus··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
There were only a few thousand people at 1/6. There are 40mm people in CA, just as an example. 300mm Americans are not going to bow down to a man who wants to be king.

People who think we'll end up in an armed conflict with some authoritarian enemy, watch too many movies and game too much. If there is a war, it will be financial and electronic. Americans call 911 when their internet goes down, they are not going to be led into a war against their fellow Americans let alone the world because of something like DEI or Juan the illegal. Instead, they'll rise up and take these billionaires and the politicians down.

DudeOpotomus··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
This is an amazing take. You're actually equating his position as a political puppet to being smart. And worse, you actually think he is!
DudeOpotomus··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
What are they fighting a civil war for? Cheaper gas? More fast food? There is nothing now or in the near future that would fracture the country enough to fight. Once commerce stops, people will lose their collective minds. You cant tell Americans how to park, how to dress let alone what to eat or drink or do. Good luck with the collective will needed to fight for an ideologue in the 21st century.
DudeOpotomus··on Corporation for Public Broadcasting Statement Regarding Executive Order
Judges/Courts control the offices that control the military and the executive. Without the rule of law, you do not have a military, you have a militia. If you think a military staffed by patriots, 70% minorities and 1st generation American immigrants, are going to bow down to a dictator and their illegal, immoral orders, you probably watch too many movies and play too many games...

If you listen to him speak, he is not a smart person. What baffles me is how and why you'd think he was anything but an idiot.

Everything about him and his actions and words reek of stupidity. He does not hold any understanding of the complexities of anything. He does not write. When he does, he misspells and uses incorrect grammar. He does not read. He has rudimentary understanding of basics. Etc.

So why is it that you find him to be intelligent? What exactly does he say or write that would lead you to this conclusion?

DudeOpotomus··on You Can Be a Great Designer and Be Completely Unknown
This is well written. It also seems to describe society at large, especially our current society. So many things work so well, they become invisible. After time, people dont even realize how much is working behind the scenes to make everything work well and they assume we dont need those things.
DudeOpotomus··on Mark Zuckerberg says social media is over
Conflating luck and timing to skill and intent is a hell of a way to lionize someone. One man's wealth is not a measure of skill, it's a measure of greed.
DudeOpotomus··on Mark Zuckerberg Says Social Media Is Over
Apple could / should be the one to tackle this by allowing iPhone iOS users the ability to create their own social circles. They dipped their toes into this a little with Invites.

Do we really need a central server to manage our friends and our circles? Decentralize the whole thing and it neuters FB and the ad surveillance universe.

DudeOpotomus··on What if we made advertising illegal?
To measure attention while confusing it with intent, is at the root of everything wrong with today's society.
DudeOpotomus··on Sonos CEO Patrick Spence steps down after disastrous app launch
Agreed but it has better sync tech than most others that I have tried. Yamaha's is buggy, Denon's buggy, but Apple TVs sync well in my multi level, multi system set up.
DudeOpotomus··on Sonos CEO Patrick Spence steps down after disastrous app launch
Buy an older Apple TV, or an Amazon Fire. Connect them to your receiver and you're good to go. Or buy a newer Yamaha or Denon receiver and they'll be ready to go out of the box.
DudeOpotomus··on Sonos CEO Patrick Spence steps down after disastrous app launch
I'd wager it's the Sonos that is the problem. I have 0 issues with my Yamaha receivers and AirPlay, or my various branded soundbars.

Sonos never wanted to work with Apple, so I can understand why they'd never make it work.

DudeOpotomus··on Supreme Court rules to uphold TikTok ban, setting stage for shutdown
It's not a top down broadcast and the SCOTUS has a hard time wrapping their head around 250 individual people receiving individualized content with no oversight or necessity for accuracy.
DudeOpotomus··on Supreme Court upholds TikTok ban, but Trump might offer lifeline
Because it's not the TWEAKING of the content tho tis the problem. It's the ability to manipulate individuals using fake or altered content.

Not sure why this is a hard one to understand but with the ability to individualized media, you can easily feed people propaganda and they'd never know. Add in AI and deep fakes, and you have the ability to manipulate the entire discourse in a matter of minutes.

How do you think Trump was elected? Do you really think the average 20 something would vote for a Republican, let alone a 78 year old charlatan? They were manipulated into the vote. And that is the most innocuous possible use of such a tech.

DudeOpotomus··on Supreme Court upholds TikTok ban, but Trump might offer lifeline
TikTok is fun but it has degraded into a commercialized mess of copycats, IP theft and scams.

Like everything else that is commercialized on the internet. It has a lifespan of a few years before it becomes unusable to all but the meek and the ignorant.

A new service will emerge and replace it within months. The truth is their algorithm is about as complicated as a HS algebra test.

DudeOpotomus··on Sonos CEO Patrick Spence steps down after disastrous app launch
Apple airplay works flawlessly. Or you can buy an old Amazon fire and connect them to your own hardware.

Both of these solutions allow you to use any speaker/amp setup you choose. And if you truly care about sound quality, this is the only path.

DudeOpotomus··on Reddit is full of bots: thread reposted comment by comment, 10 months later
Their newly minted status as a Public company will remove any concerns or care for anything other than a (bullsh*t) measure of growth.

Reddit like every other advertising fueled social media company, will ignore the reality of who uses their platform and instead lie cheat and obfuscate the facts in order to remain in "good standing" with the ad tech cabal...

DudeOpotomus··on Tesla recalls all cybertrucks for faulty accelerator pedals
The videos of this issue are telling.

Extremely poor design. With something as simple as a peddle, its almost unfathomable.

Shrinkflation is one very clear example of this in action.

Is selling a candy bar that is half the size of the packaging yet the same cost as it was before they shrank the product fraud or is it just business?

It fits the definition of fraud more than anything...misrepresenting the outcome by hiding the facts. Seems pretty fraudulent to me...

DudeOpotomus··on Embezzlers Are Nice People (2017)
Yes, and it is so much worse. We have very few actual choices for major services and are forced into business with them because life without these services is next to impossible.

Think about the tax code as an example. We literally have to buy software or pay a professional to decipher the madness. It's by design in order to keep all these people and companies profitable!

Or shrinkflation. Is selling a candy bar that is half the size of the packaging yet the same cost as it was before they shrank the product fraud or is it just smart business?

DudeOpotomus··on Embezzlers Are Nice People (2017)
Someone is naive, that's a fact...

Good luck negotiating or even communicating with ATT or American Airlines or any major provider of services you think you buy... Let alone your hospital bill, your car insurance, your health insurance or your taxes... The list goes on and on and on. We're what they call "Captive customers". You literally have no choice.

It's actually astounding that you support this stuff let alone respect it. However, in a world where people put tattoos of Tesla on their bodies, it makes sense.

DudeOpotomus··on Embezzlers Are Nice People (2017)
You honestly feel this way about your bank, your cell provider, your health insurance company, your insurance company? When you read your bills, and see countless arbitrary fees, do you feel as if you're in a personal relationship with the service and in control?

The small shop owner or tradesmen, sure. The giant corp with no human connection and nothing but a walled presence? No way.

DudeOpotomus··on Embezzlers Are Nice People (2017)
There are entire departments at large corporations that do nothing but think of ways to sneak in more fees and higher costs. Its endemic throughout corporate Americas largest industries.

Insurance Banking Finance Media Energy Software

All are infused with opaque business practices and layers of legal protections hiding behind 1000 page contracts.

DudeOpotomus··on Embezzlers Are Nice People (2017)
If you stop and think about it, almost every business is a scam of sorts that relies upon the weaknesses of human nature to thrive.

In a lot of cases we're too lazy to do it ourselves. Or we need it NOW. Or we're too stupid to care or we're overwhelmed by other emotional factors. All these things and more impede our ability to make a clear distinction between value, cost and need.

It's really hard to tell the difference between late stage capitalism and fraud. They're only divided by a thin legal line full of semantics and double speak. Words dont seem to have meanings. ie) Guaranteed, Free, Unlimited, etc. We've become entrapped in a web of tort law and legal ridiculousness.

So in the end this guy tells it like it is... He's the known known, the honest thief.

DudeOpotomus··on Old vs. new growth trees and the wood products they make
With you on this one. It's impossible for me to fathom the thought of cutting down a tree that took 2000 years to grow. Let alone is so majestic!

We humans are incredibly shortsighted. Today, we only have 2-5% of old growth trees left... and that's only because of people like you and me ( who care) fought to purchase them. Otherwise, someone would cut them down and sell them for a few bucks.
